He glanced at the dagger that Juin was now holding and said with a solemn expression, "The dagger can not only protect you, but it can protect others as well…"
Juin and Lucifer exchanged glances before the former asked, "Wait, before we get into the dagger's ability, there's something that I don't get it, Mr. Warlock. What path are you talking about?"
Warlock thought for a while as he stared at the boy and the soul in front of him. "You went back to your foster parents' house, didn't you? And the cliff… I'm sure you know of everything by now."
Juin raised a brow suspiciously. "How… How did you know? Did you follow me?"
Even Max didn't know about it until he told her today, and he doubted that Mrs. Martin talked to Warlock about it since she still didn't know that the weird priest from before was now his teacher.
"I have my ways…" Warlock said cryptically. In actual fact, he "overheard" his conversation with Max earlier through one of his eavesdropping wards. In order to better control the supernatural students, he placed a lot of wards around the school.
It took a lot of soul power for him to maintain all these wards, but he wasn't lacking in soul power… And besides, if he needed to, he could remotely disarm the wards and gather all his soul power.
"What does that have anything to do with his path?" Lucifer asked with his arms folded as he looked down at Warlock from midair.
Warlock glanced up at him, and in a split second, his green eye glowed a little. As if there were a huge boulder pressing down upon him, Lucifer fell onto the ground, struggling to even stand now much less portrayed his own expression.
"Are you going to talk more respectfully to me now?" Warlock asked nonchalantly as he glanced at the young demon king before him.
"NO. F*CKING. WAY!" Lucifer spat out with difficulty as he tried to maintain a straight pose, with his arms still folded.
"As you wish…"
Warlock made a drop signal with a finger, upon which Lucifer's foot planted an inch into the floor, as if he had a physical body instead of just a soul. He could no longer fold his arms together and had to put them at the sides.
"If we were in Alercane and I had my physical body…" Lucifer gritted out. But he knew… If he had a physical body, he would have sweat buckets by now.
Warlock chuckled. "Too bad we aren't, huh?"
He then snapped his fingers, upon which Lucifer could move freely again. "Take note, Lucifer. You are now on Earth and in only your soul form. You should know the limitation of your power. I don't know what happened to you back in Alercane and why did you come to Earth in only your soul form, but as your uncle..."
Warlock c.o.c.ked his head slightly and thought for a second before saying, "As someone who is old enough to be your uncle, let me warn you. This is not Alercane, and I'm not the only one who has the power to tame your soul. If you don't watch yourself, you will get your soul extinguished one day… When that happens, you can forget about going home."
"I'm not afraid of all these G.o.dd.a.m.ned humans!" Lucifer spat out in anger as he glared at Warlock. It infuriated him to know that there was someone he could not beat up immediately.
"Humans? You've been here for a while, do you really think I'm talking about Earth humans?" Warlock asked with a brow raised. There was a look of disdain on his face as he scoffed, "Your lack of wit shows that you are indeed his son."
Clenching his fists, Lucifer gritted, "You've been speaking that way for a while now! Do you know my father?"
"Know him?" Warlock scoffed. "I used to beat him up! That guy was such a crybaby..."
"Liar! My father is undefeated!" Lucifer snapped as his aura proliferated forward. At this moment, he was very much the "baby" that everyone in the council back in Alercane said he was. He tried to pressure Warlock with his aura, yet it appeared that the man did not even feel it as he smirked at Lucifer arrogantly before yawning in an exaggerated manner.
"Like I said, his son…" Warlock chuckled.
Angered by the lack of effect he had on Warlock, Lucifer increased the strength of his aura, releasing 90% of it and hoping that Warlock would be scared.
"Y-Your Majesty…" Juin groaned as sweat leaked out of his every pore. He had to hold onto the table in front of him with both hands to prevent himself from falling off the chair.
Warlock glanced at Juin with an amused expression, but he didn't do anything. Lucifer had totally forgotten that his vessel was just a human boy who could die from this intense pressure! He then looked at Lucifer, who had no idea who he was actually hurting with his outburst.
Tak!
Tak!
Tak!
The intense aura spread throughout the room, and it was so strong that some of the lighter things, like papers and pens, were blown off from their places by it. Even the windows rattled slightly, creating a constant clanking sound that seemed to get louder with every second.
Yet, unlike before, his aura could not be felt by anyone outside of the office. From outside the office, everything remained normal. If someone were to pa.s.s by now, they would not be able to hear anything coming from within the office.
It was obvious that Warlock had a lot of wards and spells placed around and in his office for this kind of situation.
After a while, seeing that Warlock did not even break a sweat, Lucifer could not help but look at him in horror while panting. For the first time ever in his life, he met someone who was as strong as his father. Even then, despite his strength, Lucifer's father would still be worried whenever Lucifer got really mad, yet Warlock barely had a change of expression. It was almost as if he were dealing with a human instead of a fully grown demon king who had come to full control of his power.
The man was still looking at Lucifer with the same infuriating smirk when he said, "Undefeated? I used to beat him up until he cried for your grandmother! If your--"
He nearly said "your mother", but Warlock quickly stopped himself before he mentioned her.
As for Lucifer, when he finally realized the futility of his action and had an idea of who Warlock truly was, he stopped his action and dismissed his aura with a wave of his hand.
Plop!
