Chapter 1035: Academic Mecca
Monday.
Capital University.
Lu Chengzhou sent Gu Mang to Princ.i.p.al Ren's office, where Yang Tianming, as well as Princ.i.p.al Ren, had been waiting since early this morning after receiving a WeChat message from Gu Mang last night.
Both of their statuses weren't considered low in the capital, and they had attended Gu Mang and Lu Chengzhou's lavish and breathtaking wedding. However, at the thought of Gu Mang's age, they couldn't help but look at Lu Chengzhou with a complicated gaze. Despite their awe for the latter, they found him a little shameless for marrying the young girl who was only in the second semester of her freshman year. She was the only student to have gotten married at such a young age in the history of Capital University.
As usual, Gu Mang politely greeted, "Princ.i.p.al Ren, Professor Yang."
"Young Master Lu. Princ.i.p.al Ren and Yang Tianming stood up and greeted Lu Chengzhou in a deferential tone; to which, the latter bobbed his head in respect for once as he held Gu Mang's hand and walked to take a seat from across them.
Princ.i.p.al Ren and Yang Tianming weren't aware of Gu Mang's Miracle Doctor ident.i.ty at first and only knew that she was extremely gifted in medicine from her performance at the Jijing Island's International Medical Compet.i.tion.
However, they heard a rumor the day after the wedding saying that Yu Zhongjing—their medical school's honorary dean, as well as the highly respected Elder Yu of the entire medical community—addressed Gu Mang as 'Master'. Both of them would be rendered speechless out of shock each time this matter was mentioned.
After looking hesitantly at Gu Mang for a long time, Princ.i.p.al Ren couldn't resist asking, "Gu Mang, is it true that Elder Yu… is your apprentice?"
That short sentence made Princ.i.p.al Ren stutter, which was only natural since the truth was just too hard to calmly accept. It would've been more believable for everyone if Gu Mang was Yu Zhongjing's apprentice, but it was the other way around instead—a middle-aged man was addressing a young teenage girl as his master.
Gu Mang looked up and flashed them a bland smile. "Yes."
Princ.i.p.al Ren was dumbfounded, and he couldn't help feeling utterly embarra.s.sed. To think that we've been all along boasting that Yu Zhongjing is the medical school's honorary dean. It turns out that the honorary dean we spent so much to hire is actually the apprentice of our student… Nothing can be crazier than this…
Yang Tianming gulped. "Gu Mang, you… didn't actually need to attend university, did you?"
The question made Princ.i.p.al Ren snap back to his senses. Even though he had seen and handled plenty of large-scale events, his voice couldn't help but tremble as he said, "Yeah, given your capabilities, the teachers at the medical school aren't qualified enough to teach you. You ought to be the one conducting lessons instead…"
Gu Mang said nothing as amus.e.m.e.nt twinkled in Lu Chengzhou's eyes. "What do you mean by that, gentlemen? Since you see no need for Gu Mang to attend school, then why did you urge her to return?"
At that, Princ.i.p.al Ren exchanged a look with Yang Tianming before turning to Gu Mang. "We plan to set up a 'Chinese Medicine Science Experimental Cla.s.s' to specifically groom the top students and put you in charge of it."
As the country's top inst.i.tution for science and technology, Capital University had always been the dream school of all provincial scholars. However, once they entered the university, they would realize that getting into the university was nothing—only by getting into the focused cla.s.ses would one be considered to have stepped into the university's mecca.
Currently, Capital University had four focused cla.s.ses, namely the computer science experimental cla.s.s, the artificial intelligence experimental cla.s.s, the mechanical engineering experimental cla.s.s, and the world literature and culture cla.s.s.
They were where the top students were gathered, yet Princ.i.p.al Ren wanted to set up a traditional chinese medicine-focused cla.s.s and let Gu Mang take charge of it. The abbreviations of these cla.s.ses were based on the name of the teachers in charge of them.
Gu Mang drummed her fingers against the sofa's armrests. "I haven't graduated yet."
