After the press conference, Xia Meilin went to meet Yong Biqi in the police station.

The conference was actually one way of distracting Yong Biqi while she was exposing her. It was a good thing that things went as what they have planned.

While Xia Meilin was on her way, she tried calling Lu Yifeng. It took a while before the answer went through.

"Meilin, call Nian Jiezhen." This was the first thing Lu Yifeng said when he answered the call.

"I'm being followed." He calmly said from the other line.

"What? Who's following you?" Xia Meilin asked worriedly. "Yong Biqi and Feng Huiqing have already been captured by the police."

"It's Lin Yiyang and his men. I can't speak for long, I will turn on my GPS, tell Nian Jiezhen to call for backup."

So it was Lin Yiyang!

"Yifeng, please be careful..."

"Mm, I'll buy as much time as possible." Lu Yifeng said softly.

After the call ended, the moment she arrived at the police station, the first person Xia Meilin went to was Nian Jiezhen. "Jiezhen, please save him."

"Huh?"

Xia Meilin handed her phone to her, "My husband is being followed by Lin Yiyang and his men. Lin Yiyang is one of Yong Biqi's subordinates."

As soon as she finished saying that, Nian Jiezhen went to her subordinates and quickly told them about it. A couple of police officers went out and the sirens of their cars were heard from outside.

"Let me go with you." Xia Meilin hurriedly held Nian Jiezhen's arm before she can leave the place.

"No, if the men following Lu Yifeng is armed, it'll be too dangerous for you. We cannot allow you to come." Nian Jiezhen said firmly.

Tears were forming on the side of Xia Meilin's eyes. She can't just sit and do nothing while her husband was in danger. Her body was shaking at the thought of the danger Lu Yifeng was currently facing.

"Don't worry, I will make sure that I will bring him back safe and sound here." Nian Jiezhen said, giving her rea.s.surance as she held her hand. "I promise to bring him back alive, Meilin."

"Meimei, trust her." Shu Yang said as he held Xia Meilin shoulders.

She couldn't stop her tears from spilling, if anything happened to Lu Yifeng, she didn't know what to do.

"Trust him, Meilin." Nian Jiezhen let go of her hand, "Your husband is not a weak man."

Xia Meilin raised her head and looked at her. Nian Jiezhen was right, Lu Yifeng was a person who is not easily killed. She should trust him more.

She wiped her tears away, "Make sure to bring him back alive."

Nian Jiezhen smiled, "I already promised, right?"

After saying that, she turned and left with her partner.

Shu Yang brought Xia Meilin to a bench and made her sit there. "He'll be fine."

Xia Meilin didn't say anything, her head was just hanging low and her hands were clasped together. She couldn't do anything else but wait for him.

A while later, Detective Chang approached her. "Do you want to talk to her?"

Xia Meilin knew who he was talking about and just by the mention of her, Xia Meilin's eyes turned cold. She stood up and nodded, "Bring me to her."

Xia Meilin was brought to the interrogation room and inside, she saw Yong Biqi with handcuffs around her wrists.

When Yong Biqi saw her, she didn't have any expression in her face.

This was the first time Yong Biqi and Xia Meilin faced each other but as they stared into each other's eyes, there was nothing but hate for each other.

Xia Meilin went and sat on the opposite side of the table.

"How's your husband, Meilin?" Yong Biqi said with a taunting smile on her lips.

Xia Meilin glared daggers at her. Did Yong Biqi send Lin Yiyang to capture Lu Yifeng as a hostage?

Although Xia Meilin refused to let Yong Biqi have her way that's why instead of las.h.i.+ng out to her, she stayed calm. "He's doing well."

Yong Biqi chuckled, "My, look at how you've grown. You are indeed my daughter."

"Daughter?" Xia Meilin scoffed, "Who's your daughter? I never knew that you actually have one."

"Even if you will never accept me as your mother, the fact that my blood runs in your vein is there."

Xia Meilin chuckled a bit at what she said, "Indeed, I can never deny that fact. But so what? You never cared about me in the first place so what right do you have to be my mother?"

Yong Biqi stared at her for a while before she leaned at her with a sinister smile on her lips, "Have you ever felt the pleasure of killing someone? The way someone's life fades away in front of your eyes... have you felt it?"

Xia Meilin narrowed her eyes, "No, I haven't."

The way Yong Biqi chuckled sent s.h.i.+vers down Xia Meilin's spines. "I bet you did. To be honest, I can never forget the feeling of Yong Biqi and Xia Bolin's warm blood on my hands. The feeling of stabbing them was like ecstasy in my-"

"Why are you after me and the Xia family?" Xia Meilin interrupted. "Why do you badly want to kill us?"

Yong Biqi smirked, "Why? I've been killing so many people these past years and yet, I couldn't feel the same pleasure I felt when I killed your father."

Xia Meilin stood up and slapped her hard on her cheek. "If you think that you will have it easy, I'll make sure you don't. I will make sure that you will rot in h.e.l.l, b.i.t.c.h!"
