Chapter 374 The embarra.s.sing lunch
Chen Qian was so happy when she knew that Mo Yichen had come back home. Early in the morning, she got up and called Li Yunhong that she and her mother would visit Li Yunhong at noon.
Li Yunhong was happy with that. To promote the relations.h.i.+p between her son and Chen Qian, she asked Xiangyan and Mo Yichen to stay for lunch on purpose.
The butler had picked up Xiangyan from school. The moment when Xiangyan came back home, he went to Li Yunhong and told her all the interesting things happened at school today.
Li Yunhong took Xiangyan in her arms. Xiangyan sat on his grandma’s lap, and said happily, “Grandma, do you know what I found in school today?”
Li Yunhong looked at Xiangyan happily, shook her head and stroked his thick black hair.
“Grandma, I saw a b.u.t.terfly when I was in school. My cla.s.smates ran to catch it, and I watched them running around.” Xiangyan was a little excited, which made him cough softly.
“Did they catch the b.u.t.terfly in the end?” Li Yunhong gently patted his back and stared at him in confusion.
Xiangyan knitted his nice eyebrows and glanced at Chen Qian and her mother. Then he looked at his grandma and said, “Yes, they did. Grandma, my cla.s.smates caught it when it landed on a beautiful flower. The b.u.t.terfly was so poor.”
“Did you stop them at that moment?”
Li Yunhong asked in a soft tone. Her eyes were full of tenderness.
“Yes, of course. My dad tells me that I am a man, so at the sight of injustice, I should draw a sword and render help. I certainly didn’t watch them run amok. I taught them a lesson.”
Li Yunhong was a little worried. She looked at Mo Xiangyan from head to toe to make a further confirmation. She took him by the arm and said in a serious tone, “Xiangyan, do your teachers tell you not to fight?”
Xiangyan was stunned for several seconds and knew why his grandma said that. He burst out laughing with his eyes narrowed and said softly, “Grandma, I just reasoned with them. I asked them to set it free because the b.u.t.terfly was also a life. At last they were unable to dissuade me, even they told our teacher about that.”
“In the end, my teacher gave them a lesson and I was praised. My teacher also rewarded me with a little red flower.” He patted the red flower on his chest, looking at Li Yunhong proudly.
After that, Li Yunhong also praised him. At the moment, she remembered that when Mo Yichen was young, he always solved all the problems with fighting. He used force to deal with everything he did not like.
In the very beginning, she was afraid that Xiangyan would inherit this trait from Mo Yichen. She was worried about that he would be bullied at school or couldn’t get along well with his cla.s.smates. Now she was relieved because he was more sensible than she thought.
Xiangyan was so cute. She loved him even more for his adorable face, wide bright eyes and naughty but lovely personality.
“Xiangyan is more and more like Yichen. Look at his nose and eyes. He is a chip off the old block. How lovely he is!” Mrs. Chen was full of praise when she looked at Mo Xiangyan.
The moment when Li Yunhong wanted to say something, she was suddenly stopped by Mo Yichen.
“That’s my son. What you did really reflected my verve when I was young.” Mo Yichen walked downstairs slowly, looking at his son with pleasure.
Mo Xiangyan was more excited when he saw his father. He just jumped from Li Yunhong’s lap without her help. Before Li Yunhong knew it, he had disentangled himself from her arms and ran to Mo Yichen.
Mo Yichen crouched down, hugged his son and picked him up. He walked slowly to the table and said without any expression, “Aunt, welcome.”
Mrs. Chen nodded and felt a little embarra.s.sed. Looking at Mo Yichen’s cold face, she knitted her eyebrows and glanced at her daughter.
Chen Qian looked at Mo Yichen obsessively. From the moment when he showed up, she never moved her eyes away from him, so she did not notice that her mother glanced at her.
Mrs. Chen kicked her daughter with her heel. Chen Qian finally realized that she behaved disgracefully, looking at her mother awkwardly. Mrs. Chen winked at her to indicate that she should speak up with Mo Yichen to better maintain the relations.h.i.+p between them.
Chen Qian cleared her throat and said in a particularly soft tone, “Yichen, we haven’t seen each other for a long time.”
Mo Yichen glanced at Chen Qian impa.s.sively and sat down to the table. He said nothing, and just lowered his head and focused on his phone.
When Li Yunhong saw Mo Yichen’s contempt, she frowned, pinching his arm hard. Mo Yichen felt a burst of pain, covering his arm with his hand. He looked at his mother with his mouth open and scratched his head awkwardly when he saw Chen Qian and her mother who were laughing embarra.s.sedly.
“Well, just make yourself at home. Eat whatever you want. Suit yourself. I won’t bother you guys. I have to go because something in the company is waiting for me to deal with. Have a nice lunch.”
Mo Yichen stood up and took his coat. There was no expression on his face. He said to Li Yunhong indifferently, “Mom, I have to go. Call me if you need me.”
“Stop! If you dare to step out of the door today, I will not allow you to come back!” Li Yunhong fell out with her son at once when she heard those words. The previous vitality on her face disappeared and her eyes were full of anger.
Chen Qian was no longer happy. She looked disappointed. In the very beginning, she thought Mo Yichen had changed his att.i.tude towards her and might have lunch with her. But now, when she saw his unchangeable att.i.tude and cold face, she knew that she was nothing to him. To him, she was just like a humble and insignificant creature.
“Auntie, don’t be angry. Yichen does not want to make you angry. Don’t take it to heart.” Chen Qian still pretended to be nice and sensible. In fact, Mo Yichen’s att.i.tude almost made her blood boil. Her body was s.h.i.+vering lightly and even her voice was shaking.
Mrs. Chen knew her daughter’s mind, holding her hands to give her silent comfort. She hoped her daughter would not act on impulse and screw it up.
After all, a rush for quick results wouldn’t lead to the success of love.
