Chapter 520 A good opportunity
Gu Yan considered herself lucky. Although the newly completed design was not yet perfect and needed to be refined, it was barely considered as a masterpiece. And at least, it had already gained a reputation in Annan City.
Gu Yan carefully preserved this doc.u.ment and sent a fax to Jiang Jingcheng. She felt privately that Jiang Jingcheng would definitely be interested in that.
She searched the host company on the Internet and browsed the basic information about it. She couldn’t help being surprised that the company held an interior design compet.i.tion every year. Many of famous designers in the design circle who were unknown before set the world on fire through this compet.i.tion, and then their careers were on a roll.
Gu Yan was delighted. A lot of designers she admired stood out from this compet.i.tion. And because of that, they would serve as judges in it. Gu Yan determined to make some achievements in this compet.i.tion and strove to win these bigshots’ admiration.
Not all designers had their own masterpieces before the compet.i.tion. It seemed that although it was so difficult to partic.i.p.ate in this compet.i.tion, it couldn’t prevent those truly ambitious young people. Gu Yan did not dare to look down on them. Among her opponents, there must be many people who were better than her. After all, it was diamond cut diamond.
Gu Yan carefully scanned the representative works of all judges and found that most of them had no fixed styles, and each one had its own merits. So, there was no rule to follow. She rubbed her head and didn’t consider too much. She didn’t want to be an opportunist. As long as she was fully prepared for that, she could solve all problems.
“Knock.”
“Come in!”
“I saw the email. Is it real? This is a good opportunity. It doesn’t matter if we get a ranking in it, but we will win a prize for sure. If we join the compet.i.tion, our future will have no bounds. And as for the judges, if one of them admires us, we will be so grateful! We have to go! It won’t work without us…”
Jiang Jingcheng kept talking. They had not got to the first base, but according to what he said, he had already been sure to win. Besides, he seemed to convince Gu Yan. Actually, Gu Yan had already made a decision. So, what he said was unnecessary.
The more Jiang Jingcheng talked, the more ridiculous Gu Yan thought he was. Gu Yan had to interrupt him because he was too noisy. His endless talk made Gu Yan’s head ache.
“Well, you talk nonsense. It has not got to the first base, but you think you have already win. Do you think you’re the host! I sent you the email. Do you be interested in the compet.i.tion?” Gu Yan asked seriously. She knew well about Jiang Jingcheng’s talent and ability, and didn’t want him to miss such a good opportunity.
“I won’t go. It’s laborious. If I go, can I ask you for a raise in my salary? Of course, you won’t agree. I just want to be your a.s.sistant. I will serve you as a foil.” Jiang Jingcheng rejected. Watching Gu Yan’s expression, he knew Gu Yan must attend the compet.i.tion. But she couldn’t do it alone, so he could be her a.s.sistant and help her out.
Jiang Jingcheng was afraid that Gu Yan would be too busy, and she could save a lot of energy with his help. Moreover, Jiang Jingcheng acknowledged that Gu Yan’s talent was too unique to learn, and she strove for perfection in all things. If he partic.i.p.ated the contest with her, he would have no chance to win her. So, it would be better to help her. It was also a wonderful thing.
“How good the opportunity is. Why don’t you partic.i.p.ate in…” Seeing that Jiang Jingcheng rejected without thinking, Gu Yan felt that it was a waste of his talent for him to be her a.s.sistant. She thought he didn’t think over about it, so she tried to convince him. But unexpectedly, Jiang Jingcheng interrupted her.
“Stop persuading me. I’ve made up my mind. It will be better that one person in our studio partic.i.p.ate in it. And I don’t plan to find another job. Even if I take the first place, I won’t have the chance to write it on my resume. What a pity. Besides, If I partic.i.p.ate in the compet.i.tion, you won’t have the chance to win. I am offering you an opportunity. I’ve made up my mind. Nothing can change my decision, so stop wasting your breath.”
Seeing him being like this, Gu Yan was annoyed but helpless. Although what he said was false reasoning, it was clear and logical. She wanted to refute, but she didn’t know how to speak and just blushed.
“Come on. Let’s a.n.a.lyze the propositions of this compet.i.tion in the past few years. Hey, I don’t believe that there is no any routine.” Jiang Jingcheng did not want to discuss with Gu Yan on this topic, for fear that she would continue to convince him. So, he changed the topic to what Gu Yan was interested in.
Sure enough, Gu Yan didn’t talk too much about it when Jiang Jingcheng started talking about business. She walked to the printer and took out the printout. It still had residual warmth, just like her current mood, which was nervous and a little excited.
“So much?” When Jiang Jingcheng looked at the thick pile of A4 papers, he frowned and said, “Well, I have to work overtime with you again. Well, an able man is always busy!”
Gu Yan couldn’t help but burst into laughter when she saw Jiang Jingcheng pretend to worry about the work. But she knew that this was a tough battle. It was so difficult to do some achievements and make others surprised.
So, she became serious. She handed the doc.u.ments to Jiang Jingcheng, and reprinted a copy for herself. The two people were at both ends of the desk, and read their doc.u.ments respectively. No one said anything. And the only sound in the room was the underlining on the paper made by Gu Yan.
“It’s weird. The propositions of these years are not regular. They are completely arbitrary. It’s interesting!” After reading the doc.u.ments, Jiang Jingcheng was surprised. The responsible person of the host company must have his own thoughts and personality. He must be full of bright ideas. Jiang Jingcheng wanted to get acquainted with this one if there was a chance.
Gu Yan’s thoughts were the same as his. With the freemasonry of talents, Gu Yan had a little melancholy in her mind. There was no rule, so she couldn’t refer to it. Now the compet.i.tion was more difficult. Those who wanted to partic.i.p.ate in it must be excellent. What should she do?
When she heard what Jiang Jingcheng said, instead of being relieved, she was even more worried and anxious.
She rapped the table with her fingers. What should she do to work out a plan between such messy propositions? Suddenly, an idea occurred to her.
“I know!”
“I got it!” As she exclaimed, her big piercing eyes brightened astonis.h.i.+ngly. Jiang Jingcheng seemed to be infected by her.
“What’s it? Tell me!”
