Chapter 301: Wind Blade Grand Burial, Life Guardian
A waterfall measuring tens of thousands of meters wide cascaded from the sky like the Milky Way gus.h.i.+ng down from the heavens. Mist wafted about the surroundings, forming a spectacular sight that looked as though it came straight out of a celestial realm.
However, no one was admiring the spectacular-looking waterfall at the moment because of the highly tense situation in front of them.
“Human, G.o.ds-Demons Continent isn’t a place where you can act so presumptuously! I’m warning you—leave at once!”
An icy glint gleamed in the Magical Beast G.o.d’s eyes. It gave off a forceful and intense aura as though a ferocious primeval beast that might go berserk and kill Meng Lei anytime.
This guy is much more powerful than Lorenzo, the six-winged Virtue Angel. Be it its divine body or its power of divinity, both are top-notch even among intermediate deities!
Meng Lei could totally sense how strong the Magical Beast G.o.d was. Its divine body was terrifyingly mighty, and its life force was strong and vigorous. Power of divinity surged intensely with great force while its divine spirit was as enduring as a rock.
It was hard to imagine that a low-end material plane could birth an existence like that. What was even more unbelievable was that it hadn’t even been 10,000 years since its deification. Who would believe something like that?
Meng Lei wondered, “How many divine incarnations does that guy have? And how strong are they?”
Intermediate deities were defined as those that had fully comprehended at least two types of basic laws of nature and owned two divine incarnations, though they were considered the weakest among intermediate deities. The Dragon G.o.d was a fine example of this.
Whereas those that had fully comprehended five types of basic laws of nature, owned five divine incarnations and were only a step away from becoming a higher deity—such as the Beast G.o.d—were the strongest among intermediate deities.
The Magical Beast G.o.d’s divine body, life force, power of divinity, and divine spirit had all reached their pinnacle. Meng Lei’s bold conjecture was that it most likely owned four divine incarnations.
Four divine incarnations! Yet it hadn’t yet been 10,000 years since an existence like that had deified? Would anyone believe that?
“What a shame that no matter how strong you are, you’re ultimately still just an intermediate deity.”
Meng Lei looked at the Magical Beast G.o.d and said, “It’s impossible that I’ll leave, Magical Beast G.o.d! I don’t mind telling you this—this existential plane is only allowed to wors.h.i.+p one person, and that’s me!
“But if you’re willing to become a subsidiary to me, I don’t mind allowing you to continue ruling over this continent.”
“You’re courting death, human!”
The Magical Beast G.o.d’s vertical snake pupils narrowed as murderous looks surfaced in them as though it wanted to devour someone.
“You’ll only know whether or not I’m courting death after we battle!” Meng Lei shook his head and let out a soft chuckle. “Go on and attack. Show me your—the Magical Beast G.o.d’s—strength!”
“Divine Technique: Wind Blade Grave!”
The Magical Beast G.o.d didn’t hold back at all. Innumerable violet wind blades shot out of its mouth and reached right in front of Meng Lei in an instant.
These violet wind blades were unlike ordinary wind blades. Not only were they as quick as lightning, but they were also extremely compact and condensed, making them shockingly sharp.
Had it been any other ordinary intermediate deity, they would undoubtedly become riddled with wounds and heavily injured even if they survived. Even the act of fleeing would be tough for them!
“Not bad, but what a shame!”
Meng Lei shook his head lightly and slowly uttered four words, “Life Guardian!”
Splas.h.!.+
Countless green leaves appeared in front of Meng Lei and formed a thin wall of leaves that blocked him.
An icy smile surfaced in the Magical Beast G.o.d’s eyes at the sight. “Do you think that you can use mere leaves to withstand my Wind Blade Grave? What a futile attempt!”
Yet the violet wind blades collided against the wall of leaves as though sharp arrows embedding themselves onto high tenacity fibers. The wall of leaves merely quivered a little and easily blocked all the wind blades. No matter how furiously the violet wind blades slashed at it, it simply couldn’t make even a hint of a gash on it.
“How can that be?”
The Magical Beast G.o.d’s expression changed drastically. Disbelief filled its eyes.
“Nothing is impossible!”
Meng Lei shook his head.
The Ancient Tree of Life is a great Ancient G.o.d! It’s impossible for you to hurt me even if my Ancient Tree of Life bloodline a.s.similation rate is only 13%!
“Divine Technique: Wind Blade Grand Burial!”
The Magical Beast G.o.d howled and opened its mouth again to blast another violet wind blade from within. Unlike the previous one, however, the new wind blade spanned about 500-feet-wide and looked like a rainbow that could blot out the sun itself.
The wind blade reached the wall of leaves in under 1/10th of a second.
It made a hole in the wall of leaves with a loud rip and pa.s.sed through it, reaching right in front of Meng Lei in an instant.
“The quant.i.ty has decreased, but its might has increased!”
Meng Lei neither dodged nor ducked the attack. Instead, he reached out his right arm. Innumerable vines extended from his right arm’s surface to form a thick and solid s.h.i.+eld.
Bam!
The wind blade collided against the s.h.i.+eld, producing intense sparks and a deep and dull metal collision sound as though two pieces of metal had knocked into each other.
However, the same scene unfolded once more:
No matter how the wind blades slashed at the s.h.i.+eld, it still couldn’t cut it apart. The s.h.i.+eld formed from innumerable vines was incredibly tough and st.u.r.dy. The wind blades simply couldn’t do anything about it!
“Why is it so st.u.r.dy?”
The Magical Beast G.o.d couldn’t believe its eyes. It could totally sense Meng Lei’s divine body’s level of st.u.r.diness. He was also an intermediate deity like it. In fact, he was even a notch inferior!
So, why was his divine body so st.u.r.dy?
Wind Blade Grave hadn’t worked, and neither was Wind Blade Grand Burial working now, too?
What kind of living being species was Meng Lei, exactly?
“The great Magical Beast G.o.d actually can’t even break past Master’s defenses?”
“Just what kind of background exactly does Master come from?”
The 28 divine beasts watching the battle were incredibly astounded. They simply couldn’t imagine why a powerful existence like the Magical Beast G.o.d couldn’t even break past Meng Lei’s defenses.
Meng Lei!
Why was their new Master this physically st.u.r.dy?
“I don’t believe this!”
The Magical Beast G.o.d roared incessantly. Suddenly, it opened its mouth and sprayed out a blast of violet flames. They burned furiously at Meng Lei—it was the divine technique, Violet Flames Scorch The Sky!
Boom!
The violet flames expanded sharply the moment they appeared and came into contact with the wind. In an instant, they had become as tall as 1,000 feet, completely engulfing Meng Lei in no time.
Boom, boom, boom!
The violet flames blazed away furiously. They emitted a terrifyingly high heat, causing even the water in the waterfall and pool to simmer and boil. Large amounts of steam formed and shrouded the surroundings.
The 28 divine beasts withdrew a great distance away. They had no choice but to retreat when facing terrifyingly mighty fire-elemental divine techniques even if they didn’t fear high heat or low temperatures.
“Fire naturally restrains wood. I simply don’t believe that you’re not scared of fire-elemental divine techniques!” The Magical Beast G.o.d’s vertical snake pupils bore coldly into Meng Lei, who was currently being engulfed by the flames.
However, the violet flames gradually extinguished as they blazed away, revealing Meng Lei’s form, who had been in the fire for a few dozen seconds. Everyone was stunned the moment they spotted Meng Lei—he was currently wrapped inside a “sh.e.l.l” formed from green vines just like the s.h.i.+eld from earlier!
By right, wood feared fire the most. Once burned, they would definitely be reduced to ashes. Even in the best possible scenario, they would still be turned into charcoal.
Yet this wasn’t the case for Meng Lei’s sh.e.l.l at all. Even after burning away at it for half a day, the violet flames actually couldn’t leave even a scorch mark on its surface. They didn’t leave even a hint of charred blackness!
“How did this happen?”
The Magical Beast G.o.d was close to breaking down. How st.u.r.dy must the other party be if he feared neither wind blades nor fire?
“I don’t believe this!”
The Magical Beast G.o.d’s eyes were bloodshot as it roared, “Divine Technique: Rolling Heavenly Thunder!”
Crack!
A moment later, the thunder-elemental divine technique also left the field in dejection while Meng Lei remained well and intact. It was subsequently also followed by metal-elemental divine techniques, yet they were all in vain.
In the end, Meng Lei was still fine and dandy, but the Magical Beast G.o.d had already completely broken down mentally!
