Chapter 322: Mysterious Ice of The Depths, Breaking The Seal
Had Meng Lei heard the term “Frost G.o.ds” in the past instead, he would definitely have been utterly confused and would even have had to ask Dodola about it. However, Meng Lei knew what they were now.
The vast Void and boundless universe had birthed many, many extremely strong and powerful clans.
Among which, the clans standing at the pinnacle of the deities were the ten great G.o.dly clans.
Traces of the ten great G.o.dly clans could be found all over the vast universe. Ranging from as high as the supreme Celestial Realm and the ten major Divine Realms to as low as every low-end existential plane, traces of the clans could be found on all of them.
The Frost G.o.ds were one of the ten great G.o.dly clans. They were born with the ability to command ice-elemental laws of nature and the origin of ice. In fact, a significant portion of the Frost G.o.ds could awaken their ice-origin divine bodies. They were an extremely fearsome clan.
The most unbelievable thing was that the Frost G.o.ds even had an extremely fearsome special ability known as the Mysterious Ice of The Depths. This was an Innate Special Ability whose temperatures were lower than even Absolute Zero’s and had even greater destructive power than Absolute Zero’s.
Once cast, the Mysterious Ice of The Depths was near invincible among all same-grade skills. It was an incredibly powerful spell!
“Yes, a.s.similate it!”
Meng Lei considered for a brief moment and made his decision.
Boom!
A chilly milky-white current gushed out of his brain and instantly surged into every part and every corner of Meng Lei.
Crack!
Meng Lei turned into a big ice sculpture in an instant. He gave off an astonis.h.i.+ng chill that spread into the surroundings. Everything in the path of the chill was sealed in ice.
In an instant, the palace that Meng Lei was in became fully sealed in ice. The astonis.h.i.+ng phenomenon badly frightened the palace maidservants, eunuchs, and guards in the imperial palace, and all of them distanced themselves from the palace. None of them dared to go near.
Waves of great pain accompanied the whole a.s.similation process. However, this bit of pain was nothing to Meng Lei by now and would pa.s.s with just a bit of endurance.
The a.s.similation process ended quickly. Meng Lei’s clothes had long since been frozen into ice chips, causing him to become naked. His whole body had become a snowy-white color, while his pupils had become red. He had round, bronze coin-like ears, his muscles intertwined with one another, and he had a long tail behind him.
His current appearance looked surprisingly similar to Lord Frieza[1]—pet.i.te and charming, but emanating a terrifying chill and a savage aura.
“So, this is the Frost G.o.d bloodline?”
Meng Lei balled up his fists as he took in the sensation of the changes in his divine body. There hadn’t been any improvement in his body’s physical toughness, yet something about his divine body seemed to have somewhat changed.
He checked his stats interface.
Host: Meng Lei
Race: Human (Primeval Bloodline: Primordial Human <26%>, a.s.similated Bloodlines: G.o.ds-Slaying Rat
“A 39% a.s.similation rate? System, raise my Frost G.o.d bloodline a.s.similation rate!”
Whoos.h.!.+
His Wealth decreased by 61 Divinity Crystals, and his Frost G.o.d bloodline a.s.similation rate was successfully raised to 100%.
One could tell from the cost that the Frost G.o.d bloodline belonged to the same grade as the G.o.ds-Slaying Rat, the Hundred-Armed Giant, and the Divine Netherworld Phoenix bloodlines and was a True G.o.d Bloodline.
Meng Lei asked, “System, how many Divinity Crystals would it cost to enhance my Frost G.o.d bloodline?”
“Ding! The Frost G.o.d bloodline is cla.s.sified as a powerful True G.o.d Bloodline and will become an Ancient G.o.d Bloodline after enhancement. The enhancement cost is estimated at 10 billion Divinity Crystals.”
“My guess was right after all.”
Meng Lei nodded slightly. Then, a rhombus-shaped ice crystal that glowed a pale violet color appeared on his palm with a thought. As though a dazzling and eye-catching crystal or diamond, it was the Mysterious Ice of The Depths.
“As expected, the Mysterious Ice of The Depths’ temperature is indeed lower than even Absolute Zero’s and is also tougher. Not only can it be used to attack, but it can also be used for defense. It’s a pretty good special ability.”
“System, continue to do pickups!”
“Ding! Dear host, please designate your target existential plane.”
“The Frost Divine Realm!”
“Ding! Pickup successful. You have obtained an Ocean Ice Beast’s carca.s.s.”
“Such tras.h.!.+ Continue with the pickups!”
“Ding! Pickup successful. You have obtained a Frost Colossal Dragon egg.”
“Send it into the Tower of Time!”
“Ding! Pickup successful. You have obtained a Fusion Laws of Nature Fragment. Will you a.s.similate it?”
“It’s a quadruple-elemental one with earth, water, fire, and light elements. What a shame. The five currently known supreme laws of nature’s fusion combinations don’t include these four elements.”
“Ding! Pickup successful. You have obtained an Ice Flame Spear.”
“Ding! Pickup successful...”
Time pa.s.sed bit by bit. Meng Lei carried out pickups continuously. Unfortunately, despite designating a high-end existential plane as a target, his rate of picking up good finds was still as low as ever.
After a series of pickups, most of his gains turned out to be true G.o.d-level and lesser deity-level items, and he didn’t gain even a single useful item. Meng Lei was filled with a sense of helpless resignation.
This was probably a downside of improving one’s capabilities. The treasures that used to be useful in the past had all become useless.
Meng Lei stayed in the imperial palace and carried out pickups for three consecutive days. It was only when Ol’ Amos came over that he finally wrapped up his pickup session.
“Meng Lei, I’m going to return to the Light Continent.”
Ol’ Amos stated the reason for his visit right away. Amolin, his younger sister, was also with him.
“Ol’ President, you can just leave the matter of spreading faith to your subordinates. Why do you have to personally see to everything yourself?”
Meng Lei didn’t quite agree with his way of handling things. He said, “I’ve just killed the Dragon G.o.d and was even intending to let you take over his divine nation.”
“You’ve killed the Dragon G.o.d?”
Ol’ Amos was greatly astonished, and so was Amolin.
“A few things took place during the last few days when you were at Dragon Island.”
Then, Meng Lei did a rough recount of what had happened the last few days.
“Little did I think that something so serious would happen when all I did was make a trip to Dragon Island!”
Ol’ Amos was astounded. He asked, “In that case, this means that you’ve already become a higher deity?”
Amolin was also looking at Meng Lei with a face full of shock and horror. The first time she had met Meng Lei, he had only been a tiny little Saint Domain, and yet now...
People commonly said that the wheel of fortune turned and that one should never bully the young who were down and out. Even so, how many years had it only been since then?
“Yeah.”
Meng Lei nodded slightly. “That’s why, Ol’ President, stop running about here and there. Hurry up and become stronger. Otherwise, the gap between us is going to become bigger and bigger!”
“What the f*ck! I’ve been looked down upon by the little kid again!”
Ol’ Amos rolled his eyes and said, “But I have to go this time. A s.p.a.ce-time rift has appeared in Light Continent, and demons have frequently been gus.h.i.+ng out of it. I have to go and deal with it.”
“A s.p.a.ce-time rift?” Meng Lei raised an eyebrow. “Something like that has been going on?”
“Yeah.”
Ol’ Amos nodded lightly and replied, “According to my subordinates’ reports, the other end of the s.p.a.ce-time rift is likely a demon existential plane, and it’s definitely not a weak one. I have to seal the s.p.a.ce-time rift as soon as possible. I can’t sit by and let it expand bigger and bigger.”
“A demon existential plane?”
A shrewd glint flashed across Meng Lei’s eyes. “Just as well that I happen to be free lately, too. I’ll go over and take a look at it with you!”
“That’s great! With you, the master of this existential plane, around, things will become a lot simpler.”
A hint of craftiness flashed across Ol’ Amos’ eyes as he let out a sneaky chuckle. Him coming over to bid farewell to Meng Lei this time was just a pretense. Rather, his true purpose in coming over was to get Meng Lei to help.
“Let’s go then!”
The trio arrived at Light Continent in no time and found the group of Light Church higher management officers that Ol’ Amos had subdued.
Of course, calling them the Light Church officers was no longer appropriate now. Rather, it should be the Kroc Holy Sect instead.
“Greetings, Great G.o.d Kroc!”
The Kroc Holy Sect higher management officers, who were led by the 108 half-deities, bowed respectfully in greeting.
“You may rise!”
Ol’ Amos waved dismissively. A look of satisfaction couldn’t help but come over his features as he gazed at a 100-feet-tall statue in the shrine. Stern and imposing-looking, it was exactly a statue of him.
Ol’ Amos went straight to the point. He asked, “Tell me, what’s going on with the s.p.a.ce-time rift that suddenly appeared?”
“O n.o.ble Great G.o.d Kroc,” a Red-Cloaked Archbishop half-deity replied respectfully, “That s.p.a.ce-time rift has already existed before this. It has been around for at least 50,000-odd years, but because it has been sealed by the Light Church all this time, nothing has ever happened until a few days ago.”
“What happened after that?”
Ol’ Amos frowned lightly.
“Someone broke the seal!”
