Chapter 53: Bullying And Humiliation, Raging Fury
There were more than 70 warrior academies in Fire Dragon Capital City, and Great Axe Academy was one of them. This mid-range warrior academy had a history of more than 5,000 years and had groomed a large number of excellent Warriors and experts!
It had a long-standing history and was a producer of innumerable experts!
When Meng Lei stood at the Great Axe Academy entrance, he noticed two giant decorated axes over 20 meters long towering aloft above the school gates. The axe blades gleamed coldly in the light, the sharpness of the blades displayed to their fullest!
They were the symbols of Great Axe Academy, the Saenger war axes!
“Halt!”
The guards stopped Meng Lei in his way.
“I’m here to look for someone!”
“Please register here first!”
“Alright!”
The management in warrior academies wasn’t as strict as in magic academies. After a simple registration, Meng Lei successfully entered Great Axe Academy and headed toward the freshmen condominiums.
He had been here five months ago and knew where the freshmen condominiums were. Thus, he naturally knew his way around when he came here again this time. It didn’t take him long to reach the freshmen condominiums.
It wasn’t any less crowded than in the magic academies. Warrior academies recruited a lot of students every year. As long as they could fork out the expensive school fees and their ages met the requirements, the academies typically accepted everyone into the school.
Thus, this led to very mediocre living conditions in warrior academy dormitories. For example, Joseph and Andrew’s dormitories were just like the student dormitories on Earth. Six people occupied a single dormitory unit and slept on bunk beds. The living conditions couldn’t compare to the magic academies’ at all!
It was already 11 p.m. However, the student condominiums were brightly lit. Carefree laughter and sounds of conversation could be heard from every dormitory. There were people playing magical beast chess, people drinking and playing finger-guessing games, people singing and howling... It was a complete change from its usual iron-fisted solemness. The whole condominium building was extraordinarily lively and bustling!
Looks like winter vacation has also started in Great Axe Academy!
Meng Lei rode the magic ladder up to the 11th floor and arrived in front of Joseph’s dormitory. Unexpectedly, he’d only just reached the entrance when someone was thrown out of the dormitory!
This particular building was a single-sided condominium. Rooms were only built on one side of the building, so the other side was empty thin air. Should anyone come flying out and fall off from the 11th floor, they would definitely die very tragically!
“Look out!”
With his sharp eyes and quick reflexes, Meng Lei appeared behind the person in a flash. He caught him lightly with an arm and pulled him back easily.
“Ugh!”
The person threw up a mouthful of blood, within which were a few broken teeth. Half of his face was badly swollen, and his nose bridge was also sunken in. He honestly looked rather wretched and miserable!
“Joseph?”
Upon looking at the person in his hold, Meng Lei’s expression instantly darkened!
“Big Brother Meng Lei?” A jolt went through Joseph upon hearing his voice, and he hurriedly looked toward Meng Lei, his eyes full of joy and surprise. “Big Brother Meng Lei, why are you here?”
Right after he spoke, he grimaced and held one side of his face, in so much pain that he couldn’t stop gasping. From the look of it, he had really suffered a pretty bad beating just now!
“Joseph, what exactly is going on?” asked Meng Lei in a loud and low voice, his countenance somber.
“I-it’s nothing. I accidentally tripped and fell!”
Joseph’s eyes were rather evasive, and he deliberately changed the topic. “Big Brother Meng Lei, has your academy also entered the winter vacation period? Are you here to look for me to go home together?”
Joseph seemed very excited at the thought of going home. His tanned face was br.i.m.m.i.n.g with joy. After all, he was only 14 years old, and not only was this his first time away from home, but the duration had even reached as long as half a year. This was especially when he had even been bullied and humiliated by others during this half a year in the academy. He really wanted to return home at this point!
“Tell me, who was the one that hit you?”
Meng Lei’s voice was icy cold as he shouted the question again. If he hadn’t coincidentally arrived just now, Joseph might really have just fallen down from here. This was the 11th floor! With Joseph’s Trainee Warrior battle capabilities, wasn’t it a given that he would be smashed into bits and pieces?
When he thought of that, rage blazed within Meng Lei. He was the one that had sent Joseph and Andrew into the academies. How was he supposed to live with himself if anything were to happen to them?
“Where’s that cheap and lowly commoner? Get your a.s.s back here and pour me some feet-was.h.i.+ng water!”
At that moment, a piercing and arrogant voice drifted out from the dormitory. Joseph couldn’t help but tremble upon hearing it, his face full of fury and terror!
“Cheap and lowly commoner?”
Meng Lei’s eyes narrowed. He kicked open the half-closed door with one leg and walked in!
Bam!
The door slammed against the wall heavily and caused a deafening boom, giving the people inside the dormitory a huge shock. They looked over one by one, and their eyes fell on Meng Lei!
“Big Brother Meng Lei, I really tripped and fell out of my own carelessness just now. No one hit me!”
Joseph was badly frightened upon seeing Meng Lei kicking open the door with mighty momentum. He hurriedly caught hold of Meng Lei and said, “Let’s go and look for Andrew. He’ll definitely be overjoyed to see you...”
“There’s no hurry!”
Meng Lei waved him off. His sharp and piercing gaze swept across the five people in the dormitory. “Who was the one that hit Joseph? You’d better step forward!”
“Who are you?”
A muscular man, who was 2.2 meters tall, had sharp horns on his head, and had a physique as brawny as an ox, walked over to Meng Lei. His strong and well-built chest muscles were practically pressing against Meng Lei’s face as he looked down from above and replied, “I’m the one that hit him. What about it?”
“Big Brother Meng Lei, let’s go!”
Joseph held Meng Lei back and said softly, “That’s Larry. Not only is he ranked third in our level, but he’s also n.o.bility. He isn’t someone whom we can afford to mess with. Let’s just go!”
Meng Lei didn’t budge. “Joseph, judging from the situation today, he must have frequently bullied you, right?”
“I...”
Joseph’s mouth opened and closed. He tried desperately to hide his misery and indignation, but the more he did, the more he couldn’t hold back his tears. As though a breached dam, tears streamed from his eyes!
Bully?
It was far more than that!
People that could enroll in warrior academies were either the wealthy or the n.o.ble. Even at the worst, they were still fairly well-off families that had excess money in their pockets. But what about him?
He was nothing more than a commoner and even came from a remote region. He didn’t fit in with the people in the dormitory at all. Putting the fact that he was excluded from everything aside, the key here was that he was frequently bullied!
Out of the five people in the dormitory, four of them bullied him. They constantly shouted at him and ordered him around arrogantly. They made him wash their clothes and socks, pour them feet-was.h.i.+ng water, tidy their beds and tables, bring them food...
They ordered him around like a slave!
But that wasn’t all of it!
The key was that they had even beat him up!
Whenever someone upset them or something he did displeased them, they would beat him up. They would slap him across the cheek, hit his face, kick his head, make him kneel and apologize...
During the last half a year, he’d been subjected to all kinds of bullying and torture and suffered all sorts of hards.h.i.+ps. How could all of that be so simply described with just the word ‘bully’?
“Looks like you have really been subjected to all kinds of bullying during the last half a year!”
Meng Lei clenched his fists, and then patted Joseph on the shoulder. He felt very guilty. During the last half a year, he had been busy upgrading his battle capabilities the whole time and had rarely paid any attention to Joseph and the other two.
In fact, he had even almost forgotten about the three of them. After all, they were the old Meng Lei’s companions, not his. His memories of the three of them were limited to just the period of slightly over a month’s time after he had transmigrated here!
It was really... very little!
However, Meng Lei felt very guilty during this moment, because to Joseph, he was his closest companion, and was a good buddy to whom he could vent his frustrations to!
“Hurhur, bully? I just like bullying him. What are you going to do about that?” The muscular man named Larry crossed his arms. “Not only did I make him wash my clothes and socks, and pour me feet-was.h.i.+ng water, but I even made him kneel and apolog—”
“Hmph!”
Meng Lei flew into a rage, and his palm went flying across!
Smack!
The sharp wind impact from his palm grazed Larry’s cheek, and his palm landed solidly on his cheek, throwing Larry backward completely!
