Lin Jin meant what he said. More than a thousand enemy soldiers charged over, but they froze up the moment they entered the range of Clear Wind Sword. 

Thanks to the Divine Blade Scroll, although Clear Wind had not finished cultivating it, the foundation of his aura had been laid. He could kill any being within a ten thousand feet radius. Unless the enemy was a Rank 6 beast or an immortal, no one could withstand his attack.

The area was so wide that the citizens of Maple City were standing in the kill zone. Lin Jin was trying to save them when he instructed them to leave. 

Whoever stops them would be killed by Clear Wind.

Hence, part of Lin Jin's announcement was an order for Clear Wind.

Many citizens had witnessed how Lin Jin rescued Zhao Ying and Jia Qian earlier. As proud citizens of Maple City, who hasn't heard of Lin Jin's name?

Forget Maple City, everyone in Jade Dragon Kingdom knew who Lin Jin was. So when they heard it was Lin Jin who came to their rescue and instructed them to leave, these citizens began to flee.

Although most of the enemy soldiers froze up out of fear, some weren't fearful of death.

A gargantuan soldier who stood eight feet tall refused to believe this. He barked at his pet beast, ordering it to stop the escaping citizens.

Then, a hundred-feet long sword beam came slas.h.i.+ng down from above. 

It sliced the giant soldier and the area behind him, killing the dozen or so soldiers who stood near him. Most suffered severe cuts, and some even lost their limbs. Following the attack, the air was filled with painful wails. 

The enemy general's eyes almost popped out of their sockets. 

He couldn't see exactly what happened. The dangling sword managed to carve a ten feet deep trench into the ground, even cutting through rock like b.u.t.ter. 

It was too frightening.

For a moment there, none of the thousand soldiers moved.

The citizens of Maple City cheered as they ran away.

On the horizon, the Gra.s.sy Continent army continued to move forward. At one point, their convoy split in half. Due to the distance, they were out of Clear Wind's range.

This scene indicated to Lin Jin that the enemy was no laughing matter. He got on his fire cloud to chase after them.

Clear Wind remained where he was so he could guarantee the citizens' safety and also deter the soldiers from acting carelessly.

Lin Jin was competent enough that he would do fine without Clear Wind's support.

The fire cloud traveled at breakneck speed, delivering Lin Jin to the Gra.s.sy Continent's main force in the blink of an eye. In a hilly area ahead, he saw a formation of tens of thousands of Gra.s.sy Continent soldiers, and an equal amount of beasts lined up in front. The grandiosity of this display made Lin Jin's heart pound madly.

Their strength aside, the aura brought on by this ma.s.sive army of beasts and brutish soldiers was overwhelming.

Lin Jin had to admit he couldn't compete with that.

After all, he was only one person; one man's aura couldn't possibly stand against the aura of ten thousand men.

However, aura was only a fraction of one's strength. 

In most cases, true strength determined the outcome of a battle. For instance, if Lin Jin were to use Dragonfire right now, he could injure and kill thousands of enemy soldiers. 

As his friends were still among the enemy, Lin Jin had to refrain from acting rashly.

From this distance, he estimated that several thousand Maple City citizens were still being held captive. Interestingly enough, the enemy had released tens of thousands of citizens on the other side.

They were aware that it was c.u.mbersome to look after these captives. Now that Lin Jin had been lured out, they no longer served any purpose. 

Now, it was only important for them to hold onto the important hostages.

One person emerged from the formation. This man was at least twice height of his comrades. It was as if he had a giant spirit's blood in his veins. After all, it wasn't easy to find a person who was about ten and a half feet tall in the mainlands.

This man held a staff-like item that was crafted from a beast's spinal column. Aside from his leather pants, his torso was left bare. His skin had a green-purplish tint and his body was littered with tattoos. 

As such, he commanded quite a domineering aura. At first sight, Lin Jin was reminded of a Yakuza boss who was getting ready to enter a bathhouse. 

No doubt, this man was a capable fighter. 

Thanks to his blood contract, Lin Jin's senses were as keen as a beast's. He sensed that the strength emanating from this man was nearing that of an immortal's.

His beast might be at the peak of Rank 5.

This man must be the head honcho of the Gra.s.sy Continent army. From the beginning, he noticed how much their soldiers revered this giant. 

Wherever this giant pa.s.sed, the soldiers would cross their arms in front of their chests and bow to him.

In the Gra.s.sy Continent, this was considered the highest salutation.

Lin Jin was quite familiar with their customs. While the continent consisted of many different nations, their cultures were largely the same. 

Almost all Gra.s.sy Continent natives were followers of the 'Beast Deity Cult'.

When saluting royalty, n.o.bles, and even their king, they used only one arm. Only when saluting high-ranking priests in the Beast Deity Cult would they use both arms.

This was why Lin Jin arrived at the conclusion that this tattooed giant must be one of the senior clergies of the Beast Deity Cult.

Lin Jin had learned about the Beast Deity Cult before. Their religion served little purpose, and its teachings are not particularly ambitious. It was mostly viewed as a spiritual belief, a token of having faith in a higher order. 

Of course, not everyone from Gra.s.sy Continent shared the same religion.

Daluo Temple was one example.

Gra.s.sy Continent had many believers in Buddhism, but their numbers still couldn't compare to the Beast Deity Cult's.

Lin Jin heard that for the past few centuries, the Beast Deity Cult had been serving as a spiritual token. It wasn't involved in any power struggles, which allowed it to flourish freely in the continent. If the cult were to seize power, more than eighty percent of the countries in Gra.s.sy Continent would be under the cult's control.

Upon seeing the religious salutation given by the enemy, Lin Jin came to realize that the Beast Deity Cult must be involved in the operation against Jade Dragon Kingdom.

The Beat Deity Cult priest stepped forward and shouted at Lin Jin, "Hand over the sacred stone!"

His accent was thick and his intonation was rough. Nevertheless, Lin Jin understood him.

What sacred stone? This guy was crazy.

Lin Jin couldn't be bothered to correct him. Since he now had overwhelming strength, why should he show courtesy? After taking a deep breath, he roared, "Let them go!"

His voice came like cras.h.i.+ng waves. It quickly became apparent that Lin Jin was more powerful than the enemy. 

The priest was enraged. He slammed his scepter into the ground, where cracks formed in the shape of a spider's web. It was a demonstration of how powerful his scepter was.
