Chapter 785: Yan Shenjun’s Death

Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

Lin Jin was afraid too.

This strategy was very dangerous but should he succeed, the effects would be immediate and Yan Shenjun would perish.

Yan Shenjun must die.

And the earlier the better because the more they dragged this on, the more Yan Shenjun’s merger with the saint’s body would stabilize. By then, it would be impossible to destroy that balance.

At that point, Lin Jin wouldn’t know how else to defeat Yan Shenjun. The latter would be the second living creature that was as threatening as the immortal devouring beast.

Lin Jin would not allow that to happen. Especially not when he had an unforgivable grudge against Yan Shenjun. He wouldn’t allow his enemy the opportunity to grow stronger.

He must kill Yan Shenjun and it had to be today.

Even if that meant taking on significant risks. This was definitely better than waiting for Yan Shenjun to grow increasingly powerful and then overwhelm them.

Lin Jin had his focus on Yan Shenjun as he flew over. Yan Shenjun’s body was now double his original size and he barely looked human. He was like a monster now, moving speedily as he fought Xiao Huo.

Xiao Huo was already Rank 8 and stronger than average unfettered immortals so that just further proved how formidable Yan Shenjun was right now.

Yan Shenjun immediately noticed when Lin Jin closed in.

“Lin Jin, you actually came over! You’re just asking to be killed!” Yan Shenjun laughed savagely, abruptly pouncing at him instead. Lin Jin kept quiet and patted the Four Ocean Gourd. A stream of spirit water flowed out to circle around Yan Shenjun. The latter was immediately struck by the water upon closing in.

The spirit water may look ordinary but it had the might of a mountain when pelted on someone. Yan Shenjun was pushed back a little, giving Xiao Huo enough time to come over and hold him down.

Lin Jin was sweating profusely.

That was close.

Looks like if Lin Jin ever got inside a certain range, he couldn’t possibly match up to Yan Shenjun.

So his earlier plan of getting close and attacking Yan Shenjun with the Visitation Hall’s door open wouldn’t work.

Because before he could even attack, he would have died in Yan Shenjun’s hands. The latter was much too powerful that Lin Jin now hesitated.

Only, in such a situation when the arrow on the bow was already pulled back, Lin Jin couldn’t afford to hesitate.

Yan Shenjun had grabbed a large tree, uprooted it, and thrown it at Lin Jin.

The tree was more than a hundred meters long, moving at breakneck speed, arriving before Lin Jin. By the time Lin Jin realized, the Clear Wind Sword had hacked out over a dozen Sword Energies, chopping the tree into pieces. Sawdust danced in the air, sprinkling all over Lin Jin.

Just as he regained his senses, Yan Shenjun had swiped his snake tail at him, destroying several large rocks in the way. Lin Jin felt so helpless that he could only dodge. Then, he realized something.

Yan Shenjun was getting more intense.

And that wasn’t a good sign. Lin Jin had thought he could rest easy after Xiao Huo advanced to Rank 8. But now it seemed like he was too naive.

Tiny streams of blood flowed out from Lin Jin’s body.

It was the blood ghost.

Lin Jin was forced to play his entire hand or he risked losing his life.

The blood gathered in Lin Jin’s hand, forming a ten feet long spear. Inside the spearhead were spirit devouring ghost worms swimming about.

Lin Jin had no choice but to try and see if this worked on Yan Shenjun.

‘Go!’

Lin Jin issued a mental command and the blood spear flew out. Like firing a cannon, the spear left a crimson trail in its wake before piercing right into Yan Shenjun’s chest.

The ghost worms inside the spearhead immediately started gnawing at Yan Shenjun. One ghost worm should have been enough to deal with an average immortal. It was the same even for profound immortals. But now, after the spearhead shattered, over a hundred ghost worms started crawling all over Yan Shenjun, biting at him in a harrowing sight. The average immortal would have died but Yan Shenjun merely yelled in pain, suffering only superficial injuries.

Lin Jin noticed that the ghost worms couldn’t chew through Yan Shenjun’s scale-covered skin. The blood spear condensed by a Rank 7 blood ghost only managed to destroy one scale on Yan Shenjun’s body, creating only a tiny wound that was insignificant to Yan Shenjun.

The ghost worms didn’t work either.

Because the instant some ghost worms crawled into Yan Shenjun’s body, Lin Jin immediately lost contact with them. And that told him that his idea didn’t work.

Yan Shenjun scoffed. “Lin Jin, you stole my ghost worms and thought it would work against me? How foolis.h.!.+ Don’t forget, I’m the one who nurtured them. I understand these creatures far better than you do.”

“That may not necessarily be true,” Lin Jin barked back, albeit sounding less confident. He gathered more blood and had it condensed into a large claw. He issued another mental command and the claw pounced on Yan Shenjun.

Yan Shenjun unleashed a powerful saint’s aura, forcing Xiao Huo back. Invincible in both aura and strength, Yan Shenjun smirked. “Lin Jin, it’s no use no matter what trick you try to pull. I will kill you today!”

The immortals watched solemnly from afar.

“Yan Shenjun has become strong enough to oppress Lin Jin’s pet beast.”

“This is bad!”

Even Tianzun looked grim. He could tell that Yan Shenjun was using his fight with Xiao Huo to speed up his merging with the saint’s body.

They hadn’t expected this. Also, Tianzun realized that Yan Shenjun was also using his fight with Xiao Huo to refine his body.

“This Yan Shenjun is a cunning man. He seems clumsy and arrogant but is in fact calculative. He’s trying to use the fire wolf’s flames to refine the saint’s body. This is bad,” Tianzun conveyed to Lin Jin telepathically after making this discovery. Lin Jin cursed under his breath after learning this.

Only, what could they do even after learning this?

Xiao Huo had to fight Yan Shenjun. If Lin Jin summoned him back instead, who would fend off Yan Shenjun?

There was no other combat force at Lin Jin’s disposal now. Despite knowing that Yan Shenjun was using Xiao Huo’s flames to refine his body and improve his cultivation, Lin Jin genuinely had no other options now.

He also knew this mustn’t be dragged on.

Having the blood ghost surround him and using the Four Ocean Gourd’s spirit water to further guard his body, Lin Jin charged forward.

The blood claw had been destroyed by Yan Shenjun. When he saw how helpless Lin Jin was despite playing every card in his hand, he laughed out loud in satisfaction.

Yan Shenjun had the upper hand now. He had been using Xiao Huo’s flames to refine his body this whole time but it was a pity that they discovered it too late.

Yan Shenjun could now use twenty percent of the saint’s strength, which would help him secure victory in this fight. That being the case, he was no longer anxious.

He wanted to toy with the enemy and enjoy himself.

Seeing Lin Jin approach him, Yan Shenjun smirked and flashed away, seizing Lin Jin in the blink of an eye.

The blood and spirit water barrier couldn’t last long under Yan Shenjun’s claws and had started to crack. Blood began to spill from Lin Jin’s body and he was in excruciating pain.

“Let’s see what you can do now, Lin Jin!”

Yan Shenjun figured if he just strengthened his hold slightly, he could crush Lin Jin like pinching an ant to death.

Despite his face twisting in pain, Lin Jin said, “Yan Shenjun, allow me to offer you a sentence.”

“What?” Yan Shenjun asked, smirking.

“Villains die from talking too much!” Lin Jin said, emphasizing each word. Before he finished speaking, a door abruptly flung open behind him and a powerful aura rushed out, followed by a wave of great strength that helped Lin Jin break free from Yan Shenjun’s grasp. A blood claw formed and scratched forward.

Lin Jin’s counterattack came so quickly that Yan Shenjun couldn’t react in time. He felt a chill on his chest.

“I’ll kill you!”

Yan Shenjun swiped out a claw, wanting to tear Lin Jin to pieces but Lin Jin had already retreated into the door behind him after that successful attack. Yan Shenjun’s attack fell short.

He glanced down to see a hole in his chest, all bloodied and messed up. His heart had been dug out.

Yan Shenjun became frightened. His strength subsequently depleted quickly like a deflating balloon. Aside from the agonizing pain, the snake part of his body began to separate from his upper body. His skin even started to rot. What frightened him even more was how the half-snake widened its opening to further swallow Yan Shenjun’s body.

Just moments later, Yan Shenjun was swallowed whole by the terrifying snake.
