Chapter 1797 - 1797 Old Liang Family Residence, Du Zhong Wants to Leave
1797 Old Liang Family Residence, Du Zhong Wants to Leave
Fang Yu nodded without thinking. When he thought of Brother Qi’s words, he regretted it a little. However, Zhou Chengfei’s expression and behavior were very normal at that moment. After secretly observing him for a while, he didn’t seem much different from before; how could Zhou Chengfei not be human?
Fang Yu immediately relaxed.
Xiao Ying was a little unhappy at Fang Yu and Zhou Chengfei’s arrangement. She wanted a bit of something today, and had been thinking of looking for Zhou Chengfei tonight. Fine, she would hint to Zhou Chengfei later that she would go over tonight, so he should leave the door unlocked for her.
On the other side, Qi Hao found his sister-in-law by the well in the outer courtyard. Seeing his sister-in-law look expressionlessly into the well without the slightest bit of warmth in her eyes, Qi Hao shuddered for some reason and hurriedly walked over to his sister-in-law. He also looked curiously into the well and saw that it was very deep. Qi Hao was a little afraid of heights. He sucked in a breath and said, “Holy sh*t, this well is too deep. Sister-in-law, let’s stay away. If we accidentally fall in, we’ll either be crippled or die!”
Chi Shuyan originally didn’t have much of an expression, but when she heard his words, she reacted a little. “Even if a person doesn’t die, they’ll be crippled?”
!!Qi Hao immediately nodded. “Really, Sister-in-law, the well is too deep. There’s no water at the bottom, and it’s all concrete – you’ll definitely be crippled if you fall in.”
Chi Shuyan nodded. She and Qi Hao thought the same. Zhou Chengfei could fool others, but not her. Although she couldn’t see what was going on with Zhou Chengfei now, she was sure that he was already no longer the same person, and there was something strange about him.
Chi Shuyan retracted her gaze, and Qi Hao continued, “By the way, Sister-in-law, I’ve already asked Lu Ningwen and Fang Yu about last night: The two of them did quarrel with that Du guy; according to them, it was because the Du guy suddenly said that Zhou Chengfei isn’t human, and he wants to leave the production team immediately. Fang Yu and Lu Ningwen quarreled with him for a while.”
If Chi Shuyan had only suspected before, she was now certain that the Du guy had indeed seen something he shouldn’t have at the bottom of the well last night, and it had something to do with Zhou Chengfei. Maybe Zhou Chengfei really wasn’t human anymore?
But what puzzled her was that though there was something wrong with Zhou Chengfei, she actually couldn’t see what it was; it didn’t seem like he had run into evil or was possessed. Chi Shuyan rubbed her temples and continued to ask, “Did Du Zhong tell Lu Ningwen and Fang Yu what he saw?”
Qi Hao shook his head guiltily. “Sister-in-law, I forgot to ask!”
“It’s fine!” That man was a very cowardly and selfish person who only thought about protecting himself; the lives of others didn’t matter to him at all.
Last night, he had suddenly revealed to Lu Ningwen and Fang Yu that Zhou Chengfei wasn’t human. He had probably been too agitated and hadn’t really wanted to say anything. Perhaps he regretted revealing this information to Lu Ningwen and Fang Yu last night.
He was afraid that if word got out, ‘Zhou Chengfei’ would find him and silence him.
If she wasn’t wrong, the other party would leave in a day or two.
Chi Shuyan was right. Du Zhong didn’t even have the appet.i.te to eat today. As soon as he woke up, he immediately called his manager and said that he didn’t want to film anymore. He even told his manager to come and pick him up today.
Du Zhong’s manager’s surname was Huang. When he heard that Du Zhong didn’t want to film the show anymore, it was simply a bolt from the blue. It had to be pointed out that Du Zhong had paid a lot of money and used his connections to fight for a spot on this show.
Although the theme of the variety show was horror, it aired on a major and reputable media platform. Besides, this horror variety show had a pretty good reputation and was quite popular.
The media platform and production team had put in even more effort for this event. One could tell, just from the fact that Song Yanru, the popular film empress, was here, how much the production team had spent, not to mention that the production team had also invited a very popular A-list pairing. If this variety show aired successfully, it would be popular no matter what. Du Zhong’s acting skills were good; the only thing he lacked was popularity. If he worked hard this time, his future definitely wouldn’t be bad.
So why did he suddenly want to pull out?
Unfortunately, this was a matter of life and death. Compared with Du Zhong’s future, his life was naturally more important. He didn’t care when his manager talked about paying compensation. He was determined that Manager Huang pick him up today. If he didn’t, Du Zhong would leave on his own.
Manager Huang was shocked by Du Zhong’s firm att.i.tude and asked for the reason. Unfortunately, Du Zhong didn’t say a word about the real reason. In the end, Manager Huang was afraid that he really would leave the show on his own, and he could only agree to pick him up. He calmed Du Zhong down and said, “Ah Zhong, since you want to come back, I’ll pick you up. However, we can’t afford to offend the media platform, and we have to give them an explanation. After we negotiate the penalty fee, I’ll pick you up right away. Hang in there for another day, and I’ll pick you up tomorrow night at the latest, alright?”
When Du Zhong heard his manager say that he would pick him up at a later time, he was very unhappy and anxious. However, he really couldn’t afford to offend the platform. What if he was blacklisted in the future?
He couldn’t bear the consequences. It was just one more day, and he would be able to leave tomorrow. The veins on Du Zhong’s forehead throbbed. In the end, he suppressed the urge to leave immediately. He gritted his teeth and nodded. “Okay, I’ll give you another day. You must pick me up before 5pm tomorrow.”
