Chapter 141: A Night for Killing

As for spirit stones, the Special Task Force was probably the only organization capable of procuring so many of them without a care.
If Lu Xuan were to go about collecting such stones on his own, there was no telling just how long it would take him to collect that many.
“I have my sources,” Lu Xuan said. There was no way he would have told her that he knew about it due to memories from his past life.
However, what Lu Xuan did say only make Ming Yueyao find him even more enigmatic. She wondered just what kind of legacy he possessed that made it possible for him to have such powers.
“Although I have no idea where you heard such news, I don’t think that will be much of a problem, either,” Ming Yueyao said, nodding.
Trading four pillars that the agency had no idea what to do with for methods of crafting runic ammunition was, without a doubt, quite a bargain.
Regardless of the four pillars’ uses, nothing could be as practical and valuable to the Special Task Force at the moment as the secret of the runic ammunition.
The runic ammunition would allow the Special Task Force’s powers to grow exponentially, permitting even common people in the agency’s ranks to pose severe threats to the likes of Martial Arts Legends and above.
It did not matter if other forces learned how to make such ammunition in the future, as only the Special Task Force was backed by the government authorities. Anything that would boost the power of any force by 10 times over would boost that of the Special Task Force by more than 100 times, maybe even several hundred times over.
Fundamental changes in quality would take place when such changes happened to large enough quant.i.ties, after all.
“Well then, I’ll pay a visit to your Big Boss later, after I’m done dealing with the Song Clan,” Lu Xuan replied.
He had been no stranger to the Big Boss of the Special Task Force in his past life. Lu Xuan was a close acquaintance to the Big Boss back then, so much so that the latter helped the former a fair number of times when he ran into all sorts of danger during his early days of cultivation.
In short, the Big Boss was considered a friend of Lu Xuan.
“We shall await your arrival, then,” Ming Yueyao said.
Ming Yueyao excused herself before long and left the place, boarding a flight heading towards the Capital City.
Lu Xuan arrived at the headquarters building of the Special Task Force in the Capital City and met the Big Boss of the agency.
He was a middle-aged man who looked very militaristic in every way. He appeared to be in his thirties. He sported a crew cut hairstyle, looking extremely vibrant. He always sat bolt upright, making him look as if he was a spear shooting to the heavens.
That was the Big Boss of the Special Task Force, the Dragon.
Everyone knew that the Dragon hailed from the military, but no one knew his real name. They only knew that he went by the call sign “The Dragon.”
“So he wants the four bronze pillars, then?” The Dragon asked. He frowned slightly, as he had never expected that Lu Xuan would want those bronze pillars.
It was apparent that the four pillars would probably serve special purposes to Lu Xuan. While he had no idea what said purposes could be, things happened just as Ming Yueyao had expected—the Dragon agreed to it without a moment’s hesitation.
The Dragon thought for a bit and nodded, agreeing to the demand. “If that’s what he’s after, then by all means let him have it.”
“Give him all 1000 spirit stones he asked for as well. He’s done quite a lot for us over the years, after all,” the Dragon continued shortly after.
“From what I can surmise, he probably wants those four pillars to take on the Song Clan. I’m afraid a clash between the two parties is inevitable,” Ming Yueyao speculated after a brief pause.
“Just let them go at each other, then!” The Dragon answered plainly.
“The Song Clan broke the rules by using such heavy firepower, making it clear that they pay no heed to us at the Special Task Force. If we don’t take this opportunity to teach them a lesson, they will probably think that the agency is a pushover. It’s a great chance to knock some sense into them.”
The way the Dragon said all that made it clear that he did not involve himself too much with the likes of the Holy Dragon Corporation.
Things would only be bad enough to warrant his attention if many forces of such magnitude were to form an alliance. A corporation alone was far from enough to put him on guard.
“Send our men to Han City. I’d like to see how this Mr. Lu takes on the Song Clan,” the Dragon continued plainly.
Lu Xuan had no idea what Ming Yueyao told the Dragon when she was in the Capital City. He was only notified by Ming Yueyao later that night that the four pillars and the 1000 pieces of spirit stone had been delivered to his home.
Lu Xuan came to an empty field not far from where he lived and saw four huge bronze pillars, each about 10 meters long, sitting on the field. There was no one else besides Ming Yueyao around.
Ancient, rustic motifs of the Azure Dragon, the White Tiger, the Vermilion Bird, and the Black Tortoise were carved on each of the four pillars, emanating faint vibrations from within. Common folks would not be able to sense anything, but this was not true of someone of Lu Xuan’s caliber.
Lu Xuan put the four pillars away into his ring, then packed up all of those spirit stones as well.
Lu Xuan then hopped onto the aircraft that the Special Task Force had prepared beforehand. The sky was just about to turn dark when Lu Xuan showed up outside the ancestral territory of the Song Clan.
“The dark of night is a good time for killing,” Lu Xuan said plainly.
When he saw that the external fringes of the clan’s ancestral territory remained brightly lit, it became apparent to him that the battles that had happened during the day had shaken the entire clan to the core. They were probably about to have a meeting that would last all night, discussing how to proceed from there on out.
Lu Xuan took one of the bronze pillars out of the Coiling Dragon Ring. It was the Vermillion Bird pillar, which he then placed south of the estate, planting it firmly into the ground.
The Han City Special Task Force members, who were tasked with surveillance of the estate, had long since received orders to stay far away, although they had no idea what Lu Xuan was up to.
Thus, they simply watched from afar without interfering.
Lu Xuan went to all four directions within the Song Clan’s territory, planting the pillars in accordance to the traditional directions a.s.sociated with each of the four sacred beasts on the pillars—the Black Tortoise pillar in the north, the Vermilion Bird pillar in the south, the White Tiger pillar in the west, and the Azure Dragon in the East.
He then took out the spirit stones and placed them in designated areas.
The four pillars lit up right away in the dark of the night. The sacred beasts carved onto the four pillars seemed to have come to life. Their projections were then seen rising into the air.
A faint purple barrier was erected in midair, and the representatives of the Special Task Force thought their eyes were playing tricks on them. The faint purple color of the barrier was not all that obvious, and it disappeared into the night before long.
“The four pillars are actually meant for setting up a barrier!” Someone from the agency gasped in surprise. No one had guessed that the pillars were actually meant to be used for setting up a formation.
The four sacred beasts—the Azure Dragon, the White Tiger, the Vermilion Bird, and the Black Tortoise—took their positions in their respective directions, sealing the area within the formation.
Then, they saw Lu Xuan walking right into the barrier, after setting it all up with great speed.
Suddenly, a man was spotted walking into the brightly lit compound of the clan out of nowhere, which attracted the attention of the fighters on night guard duty.
“Who goes there?” One of them shouted. Then, a pebble zipped through the air and lodged itself right into the guard’s throat before he had a chance to react. Blood splattered everywhere as the man dropped dead on the spot.
