Chapter 149: A Naturally Gifted Cultivator

“You really are a genius, Mr. Lu!” The Dragon said with an impressed tone.
The Dragon sounded very sincere when he said that. The seven-day-long exchange ended with him being completely taken by Lu Xuan.
In his eyes, the breadth of Lu Xuan’s knowledge was so profound that even someone as powerful as himself was awestruck.
While the seven-day-long conversation was really supposed to be an exchange between the two, it was actually a seven day-long one-sided lecture from Lu Xuan, instead.
Many of the problems that the Dragon faced when he was training had gotten him stuck in quite a rut, but a great number of those problems were solved with Lu Xuan’s guidance over those seven days.
Lu Xuan’s level of cultivation was so high that it was completely stunning to the Dragon. He was vaguely able to sense that Lu Xuan had far surpa.s.sed his own position.
It was as if an ancient and powerful monster was hiding behind that young face, concealed in the form of Lu Xuan.
The deeper the exchange went, the greater the awe he felt toward Lu Xuan became.
Lu Xuan smiled slightly. He respected the Dragon very highly, which was why he was willing to guide the older man in his training. Furthermore, given how Lu Xuan had been officially inducted into the Special Task Force’s ranks, the two parties were already considered allies.
The more powerful the Dragon got, the more advantage Lu Xuan would gain.
“Thank you for all your guidance over the past seven days, Mr. Lu. You have my sincerest grat.i.tude,” the Dragon cupped his hands and said. “However, I’d like to ask a favor of you, and I do hope you will help me out.”
“Please speak, Chief Dragon,” Lu Xuan said.
The Dragon rose and continued with a severe expression, “I’ve gained a lot throughout this seven-day-long exchange with you, Mr. Lu. The favor I’m asking is the opportunity to spar with you, and I do hope you won’t mind, Mr. Lu.”
“Sparring, eh? Hardly worth mentioning. No problem, of course,” Lu Xuan replied casually.
Ten minutes later, Lu Xuan and the Dragon stood facing each other in a training room somewhere deep inside the headquarters.
There were many fighters from the Special Task Force who’d caught wind of the news and were observing on the sidelines.
“Who’s the guy that the Big Boss is about to fight?” someone asked, feeling astonished.
It was worth noting that the Dragon was the number one fighter in the whole of the Special Task Force.
He was also one of the few top-notch fighters to be found in the world, to the extent that he was sometimes considered the number one fighter in the whole world. It was the Dragon who had put things in order in the world of cultivators in the early years and prevented the scene in Huaxia from degenerating into the chaotic mess seen in Southeast Asia.
The Dragon gradually s.h.i.+fted away from fighting as the years pa.s.sed. It was his subordinates who took his place in quelling any unrest now.
Many who joined later only knew that the Dragon was very powerful, but by this point, there were few who actually knew just how powerful he was.
So much time had pa.s.sed since the early days, and there were increasingly few who needed the Dragon’s personal attention, even to the point that there were hardly any such beings left.
The Dragon was about to fight someone in the headquarters of the Special Task Force, and that alone was extremely rare.
“Who’s that guy? How come I’ve never seen him before?”
There were some who looked at Lu Xuan with curious eyes, seemingly intrigued by who he was, as they had never seen him before.
There were few in the world who were capable of standing toe-to-toe to the Big Boss in a fight, and there were even fewer whom the Dragon took so seriously. No one in the agency had even heard of such a being.
Ming Yueyao, the Chief of the Min Province Special Task Force, stood casually with her arms crossed in a corner of the training room.
However, her eyes sparkled as she locked her gaze on those two standing in the center, seemingly afraid that she would miss something if she so much as blinked.
“Yueyao, who’s this guy? Why would the Big Boss take this guy so seriously that he wants to spar?”
A middle-aged man of medium build walked in behind Ming Yueyao with long strides. He too had rushed to the scene after catching wind of the news.
Ming Yueyao took one look at the man. The middle-aged man with the medium build was not a common fellow. He was the Chief of the Ji Province branch, Chen Feng. He came to the Capital City often due to his province’s proximity to the place.
All the others in the Special Task Force made s.p.a.ce for the two chiefs.
The status difference was apparent.
“It’s that guy from our province,” Ming Yueyao replied, without bothering to turn her head around.
“That guy from your province?” Chen Feng was perplexed for a brief moment before realizing who she meant.
With a jolt, he realized who she was talking about. There was one man in Min Province that had shaken the entire Special Task Force, the one man regarded as one of the leaders of the entire world of cultivation.
There were not many formidable fighters to be found in Min Province, and the man whom Ming Yueyao spoke of in such a manner was probably that Mr. Lu and no one else.
“He’s Mr. Lu?” Chen Feng’s eyes were thrown wide open, his words half question and half confirmation.
“That’s him, alright,” Ming Yueyao replied. “There is only one national-level fighter in all of Min Province, and he’s probably the only one capable of getting the Big Boss to take him so seriously. I heard that it was the Big Boss who asked for the sparring session to be held.”
Chen Feng nodded. There was no mistaking it. There were only a handful of Deity-level fighters found throughout the entire country, but he knew that the Big Boss was one of the best among them all. He had even defeated other Deity-level fighters.
Common Deity-level fighters would not have roused the Big Boss that much, but Lu Xuan was a different case altogether.
Lu Xuan had practically become a celebrity lately.
He’d become widely famous for having annihilated two cultivation forces single-handedly, killing two Deity-level fighters while he was at it.
If Qiu Zhen had been said to be a Deity-level fighter who had barely made it, then Song Lingfeng, the Great Ancestor of the Song Clan, had undoubtedly been a true Deity level fighter. Furthermore, he was a veteran at that level.
The footage of that battle had rattled the entire Special Task Force a while ago. Although the footage was taken from afar, which made the fighters looked rather blurry, the powers demonstrated by Lu Xuan had been more than enough to stun all of the agency.
It was precisely for such reasons that Chen Feng understood why their Big Boss was so eager to fight Lu Xuan immediately. If he were to be in the Big Boss’s shoes, he would have probably felt an itch himself and wanted to fight Lu Xuan as well. Worthy opponents were a difficult find, after all.
Everyone kept their voice down as they chatted for fear of interrupting the two at the center of the ground. Watching this battle was quite a rare opportunity for all present.
Lu Xuan eyed the Dragon with his Delusion-breaker Eyes as they stood across from each other. The Dragon could keep no secrets from his gaze. He was even able to see just how much energy was contained within each muscle fiber of the Dragon’s body.
“An exceptionally talented specimen, indeed!”
That was what came to Lu Xuan’s mind right there and then. As someone who had been able to keep the peace in the world of cultivators for so many years back in Lu Xuan’s past life, the Dragon was definitely one of the handful of formidable ones found anywhere in the entire world. The Dragon was definitely a cut above the others.
Diligence alone definitely could not have gotten someone that far.
Such a being absolutely needed to have exceptional talents and put in a lot of hard work at the same time. Unparalleled diligence and exceptional talents had to work hand in hand to make such a man.
The Dragon was indeed such a person. Lu Xuan could even see all that terrifying power underneath the muscles of the Dragon, a power that was several times that of anyone at his level.
That monstrous strength alone would give him the absolute advantage.
It was common for one of less skill to beat a master at a similar level to death through sheer brute force alone.
Cultivators were still people, and anyone hit by attacks of such monstrous force would very probably end up dead.
It was not like every Deity-level being out there was as powerful and monstrous as Lu Xuan, after all.
A person like the Dragon was a naturally gifted cultivator, the kind of man who seemed as if he was born to become a cultivator, and that made him extremely powerful.
