Chapter 780: The End and an Overwhelming Victory
As the attack tore everything in its path, everyone could see that the entire place was shuddering and howling under the force of the attack.
Not even the environment they were currently in was able to withstand such a force.
The heavens shattered as that attack came down on Feng Qingming.
That attack was actually faster than it looked; it took only an instant to reach Feng Qingming.
“d.a.m.n you, old man. I can’t believe you have something like that up your sleeve!”
Feng Qingming howled and looked as sinister as a beast. The composed demeanor that he had earlier had completely faded away.
That attack came down and made sure that he had nowhere to run to. That entire place that was once his playground now turned into a prison.
There was no way he could shake himself free from the cage.
Arrggggghhhhhh!
Feng Qingming howled. All of the golden light about him burst into b.l.o.o.d.y shades of red all over the skies. These were his literal true colors.
That was the true face of what he practiced.
That Black Tortoise Flag that had been protecting him from above conjured the black tortoise specter, yet it took only a mere moment for it to be reduced to dust by that terrifying attack.
Pfftt!
Now severely wounded by the attack, Feng Qingming spat out blood.
A tinge of disbelief was seen in his eyes; the last time he was so badly injured was ages ago. n.o.body had been able to injure him since his master’s death.
Only the earliest generations of the sacred ones had been able to pose a threat to him, but even then he managed to a.s.sa.s.sinate some of them.
He became so increasingly powerful in the following years following that he came to see even those sacred ones who have had their bloodlines awakened to be beneath him. In his mind, they were nothing but his prey.
He could no longer remember the last time he was so severely injured until now.
Before he was able to mull over it, however, that attack directly hit him.
Everyone witnessed how that attack came down from the heavens and hit Feng Qingming, who was so big that the attack seemed to be the size of a bug when compared to him.
If one stood and watched from hundreds of kilometers away, they would have been able to see the hand that attack but not Feng Qingming.
Arrgggghhh! Feng Qingming tried resisting the attack as he howled.
That was when the sacred ancestor’s voice rang out from above. “My good disciple! Time for you to die!”
Everyone saw a b.l.o.o.d.y mist burst from Feng Qingming’s body. They could even hear the crisp sound of his bones snapping.
Everyone around felt very vindicated and excited. Feng Qingming had just been too much; he had never regarded any of them as being worthy of his attention, going about killing them like how one would with bugs.
He finally got what he deserved.
Everyone was happy to see what was happening.
“That truly is the sacred ancestor! Only the sacred ancestor could bring about such a shocking attack despite being only an energy construct!”
“Even after 10000 years, the sacred ancestor is still watching over us!”
Countless people began to remember what the sacred ancestor did all those years ago. One could’ve said that the sacred ancestor had singlehandedly saved the entire Holy Sun Continent.
10000 years later, they still needed the sacred ancestor to come to their rescue.
Boom!
The attack finally fell to the ground, leaving a gigantic palm print.
All everyone could ask themselves was, ‘Is he dead now?’
That was when a shrill laugh rang out. “Hahahahhahaha! Even after so long, you still can’t kill me, old man! You’ve definitely gotten old!”
Everyone saw Feng Qingming standing in that ma.s.sive palm print, looking extremely haggard and disheveled. That Black Tortoise Flag, which he had worked on for centuries, was completely torn. He was completely covered in blood. n.o.body could tell how many bones had been broken in his body. He looked like a complete mess.
Feng Qingming shouted, “Mark my words! If I were still alive today, I would make sure that the Immemorial Path meets its demise in the future!”
Shortly after he finished speaking, he rose to the air and shot far away.
“No. Let’s go!”
That was when Xuanyangzi realized that Feng Qingming was probably only keeping himself together the best he could. Not only did he look like a mess on the outside, but he had also been gravely injured on the inside.
Judging by how vengeful and merciless he was, he wouldn’t have just given up otherwise.
That was but a bluff. He was so severely injured by the attack that he had no choice but to flee.
Many fighters finally realized what was happening and immediately fled.
Many bowed to the sacred ancestor while they were midair, thanking the sacred ancestor for saving the Holy Sun Continent once again.
Despite the fact that the sacred ancestor they saw was but an energy construct, it hardly made any difference to him.
The sacred ancestor simply accepted their gestures of respect, yet he didn’t actually care for those gestures. He simply said, “I’ve fought once again and I’ve fought my last, yet I remain incapable of getting rid of that menace.”
“It is up to you now, junior.”
The sacred ancestor took a look at the depths of the base as if his eyes were able to see through all between heaven and Earth.
The energy construct of the sacred ancestor dispersed soon after.
While everyone was stunned for quite a moment, countless people wailed. They knew that the sacred ancestor had truly fought his last.
The last of the sacred ancestor’s spirit was probably no more.
Many people couldn’t help but weep, staining their faces with tears.
Even the toughest among them were now moved by the fact that the sacred ancestor actually burned the last of his spirit after his death. Even though he had already done so throughout his lifetime, he was truly fighting for the continent.
The battle was finally over. Without Feng Qingming’s support, the Divine Blood Church’s army had no way of withstanding the Immemorial Path’s retaliation. As the army crumbled the whole time, even the conquered cities were all being retaken as quickly as possible, with the counterattack going all the way to the Hundred Thousand Mountain.
The sect’s retaliation moved like a storm, tearing down all of the cult’s defenses right away.
As all of the branches were quickly eradicated, countless fighters of the cult escaped as they were hunted down.
It was like how monkeys scattered if the tree that they lived on fell.
The retaliation went all the way to the main lair of the cult in the Hundred Thousand Mountain. Without Feng Qingming getting in the way this time, there was simply no way to stop the army of the Immemorial Path.
The cult no longer had any formidable ones within their ranks, and all their elite forces having been wiped out in that war before. It also went without saying that they lost the protection of their G.o.d, Feng Qingming.
All of that made it easy to crush the great altar of the Divine Blood Chuch. Everything was leveled and eventually burned down.
The towering flames lit up the night sky so radiantly that one could see from a distance how the entire place was covered in flames.
The war, which decided the fate of the Holy Sun Continent in the future, finally ended with the sect’s overwhelming victory.
This war was far more important than any other wars that had been fought before. The Immemorial Path had truly eradicated the Divine Blood Church in that war.
Thousands of years’ worth of entanglement and battles finally ended in that generation, bringing everything to a close as the sect finally annihilated their archenemy that had been around for millennia.
The world was in an uproar for quite some time.
