Chapter 26: Nothing to Fear
Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios
When the news about the Su Family and the Zhang Family breaking off their engagement broke out, almost everyone in the upper-cla.s.s society found out about it.
It did not cause a big hoo-ha. Instead, most of them joked about how the Su Family was reaching its downfall soon.
During the shareholders’ meeting, Su Ruohua was sitting at the head of the table and she scanned her surroundings. “Does anyone have any other opinions?”
Once she said this sentence, someone immediately stood up. “I disagree on terminating our contract with Shen Anan!”
“Su Ruohua, you are so biased! You are not fit to be a leader!”
“…”
Su Ruohua furrowed her eyebrows.
“I have no opinions.” Just when everyone was debating on the issue, Su Zhi slowly stood up. He firmly said, “I wholly agree with President Su’s stand.”
Once he said this sentence, the room suddenly fell silent. Even his words stumped Su Ruohua.
Su Zhi was the biggest shareholder in the company besides her, and thus, he had the highest authority. He was well-known as a sly old fox and was very difficult to convince. This was the first time he agreed with Su Ruohua without a fight.
“President Su, why did you agree with them?” After the meeting, one shareholder walked to Su Zhi’s side. “The Su Family broke off their engagement with the Zhang Family. We don’t have to be afraid of them.”
A bunch of old, weak, and dumb people comprised that family. They did not have to be afraid of them at all.
Su Zhi did not reply to him and instead threw a question. “Do you also agree that Su Huiqing is not worthy of Zhang Mingxi?”
That person burst into laughter. “Well, everyone thinks this way!”
This was the answer he expected. Su Zhi turned around and walked towards the car park without a word.
He would have thought that way too if it was a few days ago.
The reason the Zhang Family wanted to break off their engagement with the Su Family was that they wanted to move towards the capital and develop their business into the international scenes. With that said, they felt that Shen Anan was a better fit than Su Huiqing considering their drastic difference in talents.
If they were to know that Su Huiqing purposely built a fake image… Let’s just hope that the Zhang Family would not regret their decision after the truth is out in the open.
Su Zhi was pulling out his car keys as he walked toward the car. As he drew near, he saw a figure leaning against his car.
With her arms crossed and her legs overlapping each other, she gave off a very casual vibe.
He did not even need to see her face. He could recognize her by her posture and aura alone.
“It looks like you have made a wise decision.” Upon seeing that Su Zhi had walked over, Su Huiqing relaxed her arms and casually carried her bag over her shoulders.
It was just a simple sentence, but it was enough to send a chill down Su Zhi’s spine.
Su Zhi suddenly blurted a question out. “If I didn’t support… What will you do?”
Su Huiqing did not reply. Instead, she pulled out a doc.u.ment bag from her backpack before casually throwing it to Su Zhi.
Su Zhi raised his head and looked at her, stumped.
“It didn’t happen, did it?” Su Huiqing slightly curled her lips up and hooked her finger around the strap of her backpack. She stuffed one hand into her pocket and lazily strode forward.
She stopped walking and turned around to side-eye him. She narrowed her pitch-black eyes and in a casual tone, she said, “Well, if it happened, you will end up… like the contents in that bag.”
After she had left, Su Zhi opened the doc.u.ment bag with trembling fingers.
‘Pa!’
He dropped the bag onto the floor after he had seen the contents inside the doc.u.ment bag.
–
Su Huiqing walked out of the Su Corporation. The sun outside was very bright, and so she raised her hand to s.h.i.+eld her cold, brazen eyes from the sunlight.
Just then, a black car parked in front of her.
“Missy, stop skipping lessons, and attend the predecessor training. If you continue acting like this, Uncle Chen will nag at me again…” The chauffeur rolled the window down and persuaded her in a bitter tone.
Su Huiqing entered the car and threw her backpack beside her. She looked at the chauffeur, and she firmly said, “Start the car.”
Her words sent a chill down the chauffeur’s spine. He did not dare to say anything further and stepped on the gas.
He drove to the predecessor training cla.s.s.
Su Huiqing opened the car door and got out of it. She threw her backpack over her shoulders and slightly squinted her eyes.
“Qingqing, you are finally here!” Yu Xiangyang, who was leaning against the door, immediately had his eyes lit up when he saw her.
Su Huiqing had hummed in response before spinning the phone in her hands, which made her seem very laid back.
Yu Xiangyang scratched his head and kept staring at Su Huiqing with admiration. “You are so cool! That cartwheel you did the other day… It’s so cool…”
‘Pa!’
Su Huiqing threw her backpack on the table and slowly smoothed her hair. She then turned around to face him. “Enough! You just want me to teach you that, right? I got it.”
Yu Xiangyang suddenly froze, but there was a hopeful glint flickering in his eyes. With his hands tightly clasped, he could not hide the gleeful look in his eyes.
Shen Anan and Zhang Mingxi sat at a corner and watched Yu Xiangyang in confusion.
They just couldn’t understand why an ill-tempered and impulsive boy like Yu Xiangyang would willingly listen to Su Huiqing?
“Mingxi, do you think we should remind Young Master Yu?” Shen Anan was a little worried.
“No need. He should be responsible for his doings.” Zhang Mingxi retracted his gaze. He had already broken off his engagement with Su Huiqing and had no interest in that good-for-nothing. As for Yu Xiangyang, he had already reminded him once. If the Yu Family were to meet their demise in the future, he wouldn’t be to blame.
Eight O’clock.
A handsome young man walked in and everyone immediately looked at him with pa.s.sion and admiration.
He was from the International a.s.sociation!
“Last week’s test allowed me to have a better understanding of everybody.” Xie Zhengyuan leaned against the table and switched on the projector. “I have prepared a question that is out of your syllabus. This is a question which even students from the International a.s.sociation may not know how to answer. With that said, my area of focus today would be the stock market crash that happened eight years ago.
“You guys may be unaware, but this is a compulsory history lesson which everyone must learn at the International a.s.sociation.” Xie Zhengyuan stood upright and wore a serious expression on his face. In a deep yet respectful voice, he said, “Back then, Country R disobeyed the rules made by the International a.s.sociation. But a certain person caused a stock market crash in Country R, which eventually led to them admitting to their mistake. They even begged her to show mercy…”
As he said that, two black words slowly appeared on the screen behind him.
Su S!
‘Pa!’
Yu Xiangyang dropped his pen and it alarmed the bunch of pa.s.sionate students.
Su Huiqing reached out to pick up his pen before giving Yu Xiangyang a faint glance.
Xie Zhengyuan gave a few knocks on his table. “Alright, everyone can start answering the question.”
“Let Anan do it!”
“That’s right! Professor Xie, Anan is the smartest student in cla.s.s!”
“…”
Xie Zhengyuan nodded his head and watched Shen Anan stand up in excitement. However, she somewhat produced an immature explanation of the question.
He could not help but s.h.i.+ft his gaze to the girl sitting on the last row. While everyone else had excitement on their faces, she was the only one with a casual and laid back att.i.tude. She leaned against her chair and slightly curled her lips up to form a lazy smile. It seemed like she was mocking the other students.
Xie Zhengyuan laughed at this. After his phone vibrated, he casually said a few points and ended the lesson.
When he walked out of the cla.s.sroom, he immediately saw a black and handsome figure.
With his back facing the sun, his eyes looked a little cold.
“You must be Young Master Yu?” Xie Zhengyuan’s face turned serious while he politely walked towards him. “Let’s go somewhere else to talk.”
“Yes.” Yu s.h.i.+jin retracted his gaze and maintained a stoic expression.
Xie Zhengyuan looked to where Yu s.h.i.+jin was looking, only to see Su Huiqing and the others. He could not help but raise his eyebrows. “Strange, isn’t it? The talented student hid her true talents from everyone while the mediocre student could not wait to show herself off to everyone.”
