Chapter 55: Why Did You Pretend to Be a Normal Person?
They had sealed the entire Street 91 off. Thus, it was strangely quiet.
The golden-haired man watched the limousine drive off through the video.
He could see the woman’s posture on the car rooftop. With one hand supporting her weight as she stood on the rooftop, she held the transceiver with her other hand. She then slightly curled her lips up to form an arrogant smile.
However, before he could carefully see her face, the black car had already disappeared from their sight.
He quickly opened the door and got out of the van to inspect the front wheels.
There were two poker cards deeply plunged in it.
The tires had long exploded, but the poker cards remained unharmed.
Upon plucking out the poker cards, the golden-haired man noticed that both were the ace of hearts.
His eyes darkened, and he placed a transceiver to his ear. In a deep voice, he said, “Mission failed. They are going towards your direction, but I have lost track of them. Be careful over there.”
The person on the other end of the transceiver responded, and that made the golden-haired man curl his lips up to form a cold smile.
“Two poker cards.” He lowered his eyes, his expression looking especially sour. “Was all it took to puncture the tires. Do you really think you can take the blow if she were to use a dagger and throw it towards you using the same strength and speed?”
With that said, he cut off the connection without waiting for the other party’s reply.
While his men were still changing the tires, he typed a few words on his laptop.
A series of information appeared on his laptop screen.
They had only used a paper card to puncture the tires, and with such accuracy and skills, he should have at least heard of her or seen her name on the rankings.
He looked at the results of his search, but he did not find a single piece of information about poker cards.
Even the International a.s.sociation had no records of it.
Who exactly was this expert who turned up out of nowhere?
“He is searching about poker cards?” Chi Yue, who was on the other side of the transceiver, finally hacked into the golden-haired man’s laptop. Looking at the search history, he could not help but feel strange. He then put on his earphones. “The other party stopped tracking, so you guys are safe.”
After he had said that, he looked at the screen again and narrowed his eyes. He continued, “He keeps on searching about poker cards.”
“Young Master Yu asks you to send the tracking video over.” After hearing Chi Yue’s reply, Chu Xuning paused for a moment, trying to figure out Yu s.h.i.+jin’s intentions behind his actions. He then replied, “Track Doctor Luxe’s whereabouts and keep in touch with us.”
Chu Xuning could sense that Yu s.h.i.+jin was purposely trying to avoid Chi Yue.
Although he did not know the reason behind it, it was still safer to keep Chi Yue by their side.
However, Yu s.h.i.+jin actually let Chi Yue go.
Hence, he did not tell him anything that had happened earlier on.
The good thing out of that situation, Chi Yue was not suspicious of him. He reached out to type on his keyboard. “Okay. Please help me pa.s.s a message to Young Master Yu. I really hope that he would give me a satisfactory reply.”
With that, he switched off the transceiver and slightly pursed his lips.
He hadn’t forgotten his sole purpose of coming, and it was because of what Yu s.h.i.+jin told him. “Don’t you want to know how she died?”
Chu Xuning turned around and looked at Yu s.h.i.+jin.
He was sitting in the front pa.s.senger seat of the limousine while Yu s.h.i.+jin was sitting in the middle row. On the other hand, Yu Xiangyang and his two other friends were sitting in the last row.
His mouth twitched, and he was just about to say something when the car door opened.
Since the car was driving at an extremely fast speed, the wind gushed into the car all of a sudden.
With one hand gripping the car door and another hand on the top of the car, she entered the car in a swift and smooth action.
Before Chu Xuning could even react, she was already sitting behind him.
Su Huiqing took off her school bag and placed it near her knees. She seemed to have sensed Chu Xuning’s gaze on her, for she slightly raised her eyes and curled her lips up.
It was a very faint smile.
However, why did he feel as if there was a hint of wickedness in her smile when he looked into her pitch-black eyes?
The scene that had happened earlier on, where Young Master Yu and Miss Su had a great interaction, was still deeply etched into Chu Xuning’s memory. “Miss Su, how did both of you do that?”
Once he said that, not only did Yu Xiangyang and the others look at her, even the chauffeur could not help but look at that indifferent girl through the rearview mirror.
From opening the door to throwing the poker cards, both of them cooperated with each other so well that it was so flawless, and they had done it under a few seconds.
If it wasn’t because Chu Xuning had seen it with his own eyes, he would not have believed it.
Yu s.h.i.+jin had a strange fighting style and few could guess his thoughts and plans.
Furthermore, it wasn’t the first time they had such a good rapport. The time they caught an international fugitive, both had superb cooperation, too.
Do they… really not know each other?!
After hearing Chu Xuning’s words, Su Huiqing also turned around to look at Yu s.h.i.+jin with her hand resting on the car door.
She was dead sure that she had not seen this person before. As to why they could cooperate with each other so well…
Perhaps it was just a coincidence?
“Everyone, please take note. We are reaching the lab soon.” Yu s.h.i.+jin did not raise his head and instead, lowered his eyes to look at the video that Chi Yue sent him. He then reached out to place the transceiver on his ear and in a calm voice, he said, “Prepare to fetch Doctor Luxe.”
Their princ.i.p.al purpose was to fetch Doctor Luxe.
Yu s.h.i.+jin neatly changed the topic.
However, he did not notice that the person sitting next to him, which was Su Huiqing, had narrowed her eyes upon the mention of Doctor Luxe’s name.
“Stop the car. Students like us shall not partake in your messy warfares.” Su Huiqing reached out to grab her schoolbag. Upon seeing that the chauffeur had no plans to stop the car, she could not help but raise her eyebrows. She repeated, “Stop the car.”
‘Screech—’
The chauffeur saw her pair of black eyes through the rearview mirror and a chill ran down his spine, causing him to step on the brakes with such urgency.
The smile on Chu Xuning’s face, who was sitting on the front pa.s.senger seat, twitched.
‘Those skills… Miss Su, why are you pretending to be a normal person?’
Could a normal student make those people come and try to catch her?
He finally got to know another of Missy Su’s special traits. She could spout nonsense while keeping a smug, confident face even!
“We are already within the base of the lab. I know you have a way to escape…” Yu s.h.i.+jin placed his laptop down and looked towards Su Huiqing while giving off a very distant vibe. “But your friends can’t.”
He purposely lowered his voice for the latter part of his sentence.
It was so soft that even Chu Xuning could not hear him, but Su Huiqing, on the other hand, heard it loud and clear.
Her hand that was gripping on her school bag froze, but she said nothing further.
After all, these people were coming after Gu Li.
Yu s.h.i.+jin knew that she had admitted that fact and kept his laptop away.
Before he got out of the car, he gave her a quick glance using his deep, pitch-black eyes and coldly pursed lips.
Because of a big and bright lamp located outside of the base, she could see his slender and tall figure and even the cold glint in his eyes.
The others also got out of the car. Upon seeing the ma.s.sive laboratory base, Yu Xiangyang and the others immediately held their breaths in awe.
Su Huiqing picked up her school bag and was the last one to get out of the car. She raised her head to look at the ma.s.sive laboratory base and a serious yet familiar feeling crept up to her.
Yu s.h.i.+jin took out an ident.i.ty card from his pocket and tapped it on the sensor next to the door of the laboratory base, to which the door quickly opened.
Yu Xiangyang and the others followed behind Su Huiqing.
“Don’t touch it.” Upon seeing Yu Xiangyang accidentally touching the wall, Su Huiqing reached out and dragged him aside by the collar. Without turning her head around, she said, “There are b.o.o.by traps all around.”
It was considered an explanation.
Yu Xiangyang could not help but tremble. He was more than willing to trust Su Huiqing’s word, but it was just that… He looked towards Qu Yan and Gu Li. “Isn’t this our first time here? But why do I feel like Qingqing knows this place very well?”
“I know right.” Qu Yan looked at the calm expression on Su Huiqing’s face, which didn’t have the innate curiosity a person should have whenever they visited a new place. “She looks like it, too.”
This sentence caused Chu Xuning to take another glance at Su Huiqing, his gaze full of curiosity.
However, Su Huiqing did not reply to him and Yu s.h.i.+jin, who was walking in front of her, threw an earpiece backward.
Su Huiqing swung her school bag over her shoulders and raised her hand without even raising her head. The earpiece that Yu s.h.i.+jin threw safely landed in her hands.
They pulled off another perfect collaboration without even speaking to each other.
Su Huiqing wore the earpiece and remained silent. However, that did not mean that she did not hear Yu Xiangyang’s words.
Even if her current ident.i.ty was Su Huiqing, the Missy of the Su family who could not be more normal than any other student in the country…
It could not hide the fact that she used to be Su S.
She used to be a person who walked on the path of danger all the time.
Playing with bombs, catching fugitives, and protecting the order in the International a.s.sociation… those were the things she was used to.
She reached out and switched on her transceiver. This was where she really belonged.
