Chapter 140 - His Call
He heard what Ye Zhenzhen just said clearly! Of course, he was furious!
The woman that he loved but could not be with, as well as her biological daughter that he had not nurtured, were both branded as a 'coquette.' How could he not be angry?!
Ye Qiao never thought that Ye Shengxun would come over. She had left without saying goodbye earlier after seeing him still on the phone in the car. Nevertheless, since he was here, he should have heard his precious daughter's words, right? This was his so-called well-behaved daughter, who was educated by Madam Qin!
Ye Shengxun strode over angrily.
"Father... Ye Qiao... she wanted to hit me!" Ye Zhenzhen quickly complained, thinking that her father had not heard what she said just now.
"Ye Zhenzhen! What did you say about your sister? What did you say about your sister and your sister's mother? Who taught you this?!" Ye Shengxun was furious.
This was the first time Ye Zhenzhen had seen her father venting out his anger toward her. To make matters worse, it was because of Ye Qiao and her mother!
Intuitively, she backed away in fear. Ye Qiao could feel Ye Shengxun's murderous intent under the dim light. She felt somewhat comforted in her heart for her poor birth mother…
"Father… I…" Ye Zhenzhen could not speak her mind... Tears came flowing down from her eyes.
"Ye Zhenzhen! I'm telling you! I loved Ye Qiao's mother sincerely. I had not met your mother yet when we were together. Ye Qiao is your sister. If I learn that you disrespect and insult her again in the future, I will not take it lightly!" Ye Shengxun said every word bluntly.
In Ye Zhenzhen's memory, her father had always been polite and gentle... but at this moment, he was scolding her mercilessly. All she could do was to continue shaking her head and crying.
Of course, she hated Ye Qiao even more after this incident.
"Ye Zhenzhen, even your name should have originally belonged to your sister! Also, you should show more respect for the deceased. You already show no respect toward your elders, and now, you are even cursing a deceased! You're really…!" Ye Shengxun was still very angry. He gritted his teeth in intervals the entire time he spoke.
All his regrets from the past just came out of his mouth at this moment. If he did not return to the city and protected Qiao Yi back then, would the ending be different?
Meanwhile, Ye Qiao felt delighted listening to Ye Shengxun's words. She wanted to see whether this little girl would keep on messing with her after this incident unfolded!
"You were originally the only child... and suddenly, you have a sister. I understand that you can't accept her so easily. But you are not allowed to bully her! If you want to blame someone for this matter, blame it on me! This is not Ye Qiao's fault!" Ye Shengxun spoke his mind again.
Ye Zhenzhen was so scared that she could not utter a word. She only continued to cry.
Ye Qiao did not speak either. Instead, she turned around and left. She had nothing to say to them. She just hoped that Ye Zhenzhen would not cause her any trouble in the future!
"Qiao Qiao! I'll send you back!" Ye Shengxun's voice was heard from behind her. Apparently, he had calmed down. He had wanted to send Ye Qiao home all along but was preoccupied and accidentally found the two of them in the alley.
"No need!" Ye Qiao said and left quickly.

In the still of the night, she closed her mother's - Qiao Yi's - diary. Then, she took a deep breath and wiped away the tear in her eyes. She still felt sad reading through the diary even though it had been so many years. She felt sad for the young couple who were in love at that time.
Suddenly, the cell phone on her desk vibrated.
The call should be from her uncle. He was in N town recently, and he often called her when he was around.
But just when she was about to speak, she heard a familiar breath from the other end of the phone. Her heart throbbed. "Brother Xiao?"
Her voice was hoa.r.s.e when she yelled out the two words. It was the sound of his breathing! What a connection the two had between them!
She already knew that it was him before he could even say a word!
"Brother Xiao! It's you! How is this possible…?" How could he have the chance to call her? She was so excited that she was about to cry.
