Chapter 1056 - Pray For A Miracle
To Wern, it felt like his whole world had come cras.h.i.+ng down in a single moment.
The ground began to shake once more and this time it did not stop for a good few seconds. The moment the rock broke it felt like the bubble of reality that was surrounding the room also popped and thousands of screams flooded in.
It was not something ethereal but the actual screams of the residents of Argham. They could be heard even in this underground chamber so one could only imagine how loud and utterly chaotic it must be outside.
Even Wern couldn't hold himself back at this moment as a wave of anger erupted forth.
"NOOO! DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'VE DONE?!"
All of his Qi exploded in one ma.s.sive blast that obliterated the demonic blob that was holding him down. Unfortunately, the creature had some kind of a special ability that sapped most of his energy without letting it spread out.
It died in the process but not before exhausting Wern's Qi reserves, which still didn't stop him. He pulled the bowstring and aimed it in Eurig's direction.
Every iota of energy that was left in his body was pulled towards the bow as three bright blue arrows materialized.
"GO BACK TO h.e.l.l!" he threw out the words before releasing the bowstring.
The first arrow pierced the brute demon's chest before it could even react, creating a hole the size of a football. The second one hit Eurig's right arm sending it flying away.
The third one was meant for the masked demon but it was too fast. It scaled up the side of the wall and before even Wern could even blink it was on him.
Its tail pierced Wern's stomach and flung him into the wall behind.
By the time Eurig reacted the damage was already done. He looked at his arm that was laying several meters away and shook his head in disappointment.
"Now why would you go and do something so stupid? I mean, the barrier is already broken, isn't it a little too late to try and be a hero? You should have tried this before...not that it would have worked, hahaha."
There was no blood coming out of his severed arm, only a viscous green liquid. He casually walked up to it and picked it up before placing it back on the shoulder. Dozens of small snakes shot out and latched onto the arm, dragging it back into position.
Within seconds it was back to normal with nothing more than a small scar to show for Wern's efforts.
"Are you okay-" Eurig glanced towards the Brute demon that hadn't even realized there was a gaping hole in its chest, "-ah, never mind."
He then directed his attention to Wern, gesturing for the masked demon to get off of him.
"Hey, are you still alive?"
The masked demon moved aside to reveal a barely intact body. He was still holding onto the bow but the severe blood loss from the wound on his abdomen coupled with the impact with the wall had left him in tatters.
His left leg was broken in half and the bone was poking out of the flesh. The pool of blood underneath him was only getting bigger but it looked like he didn't even care about it anymore.
Wern's gaze was unfocused and he was barely even conscious but still trying his best to stare down Eurig.
"You *cough*cough* f.u.c.king lunatic. You have...doomed us all!"
Eurig chuckled before shaking his head, "No, I have doomed only you and the weak-hearted. Your people will be slowly exterminated either by your own kind or the monsters outside. The people of Argham on the other hand will watch in horror as they too are slowly but surely culled from this plane."
"And those that remain, the savior will make them part of his flock. But...it is a shame you won't be around to see that happen."
Wern had indeed lost too much blood and if he wasn't provided urgent medical care in the next few minutes then he was most certainly going to die. And from the looks of it, that was going to be the case.
"Now then, that leaves only you," Eurig looked to the side at the other blob which was trying to eat Arnett whole.
Only his eyes and nose were still left uncovered while everything else was covered by the blob's gelatinous body. Parts of his skin had been already burned off.
"I was going to let you live since the savior said you would bring me to the chosen one but now I am not so sure. What do you think, boy? You want to live?"
Eurig bent down to look him right in the eye as he whispered, "Hmm? Do you want to go outside? Maybe try and get to that half-bred sister of yours just in time to see her take her last breath? Or maybe you will be ripped to shreds even before that if those creatures have already made it past the gates."
Arnett's eyes began to water until tears finally rolled down his face and into the blob's body, making Eurig's heart race.
Arnett's gaze s.h.i.+fted left and right, at Alfen who was barely breathing and Wern who couldn't even sit upright. He was so terribly scared that he didn't know what to do anymore. And since he couldn't even scream for help anymore the only choice left was to pray.
To pray for some miracle.
'Someone...please help...I don't want to die...'
"What do you say? Come on, I will let you choose. Die here or die out there, I will enjoy both equally. What will you-"
"Too...G.o.dd.a.m.n loud."
Eurig's query was cut short by a third voice, and it was coming from right behind him.
