Chapter 1617 Going For A Shakedown
Grey looked at the duo and almost laughed when he heard their speculations about who might be behind the deaths of the two Princes, he was even more fascinated by the Second Prince's reaction to this. It could be said that the death of the Sixth Prince would not raise this much attention, but the death of the Third Prince has certainly rattled the entire Royal family, especially the First Prince who feels his life could be in danger.
The Second Prince didn't have any reason to be worried since he is the one behind the death of the Third Prince, but with the way he was reacting to the First Prince's words, it's clear that he was also a little worried about the death of the Sixth Prince and the Third Prince's man. If the Third Prince didn't tell him about the death of his man, he wouldn't have been too worried, but that made him a little apprehensive.
The two Princes continued their discussions, and the Second Prince came up with a plan to investigate the top families, especially those that will want to place someone they can control on the throne.
With two Princes dead, the Second Prince felt if this is true, then all the Princes vying for the throne will be killed. The best person to make an Emperor that can be controlled is someone who never had the thoughts of becoming Emperor in the first place. The Emperor had a lot of children, and most of them didn't try to fight for the position of the next Emperor, and only these seven Princes stood out for the position. Now however, if one of those who didn't stand out for the position was offered this position with ease, it means they will take it, even if it means having to listen to someone else. As for the Princes who were already in the battle, they all believed they could win it, and didn't want to be anyone's puppet.
Grey almost wanted to give a round of applause for the duo as they continued speaking about this. The Second Prince was very smart, and Grey knew there might be a reason behind his words.
The meeting soon ended and Grey followed the Second Prince back to his room which is properly sealed from anyone else, so there is no way anyone could hear their conversations, Grey was already aware of this in all the rooms of the Princes.
"Are you surprised I'm going with my brother's plan?" The Second Prince took a seat and asked.
Grey nodded, curious about the Second Prince's reason.
"Simple, first off, I need to throw them off trail. Besides, there's someone I know who could have such intentions, I just didn't want to say it to my brother without sufficient evidence." The Second Prince told Grey his reason.
They were the ones who killed the Third Prince, well, mostly Grey, but the Second Prince has been seen with Grey on multiple occasions, and most people would pin it to him, especially since they were together during the time they visited the Third Prince. The Second Prince has ways to make the others to believe he didn't do it, but he preferred it didn't get to that point, so he was working towards it, and luckily, his elder brother was making it easy for him.
"I see. So what's the plan?" Grey asked.
"Don't worry about that." The Second Prince didn't have any intentions of sharing his plans with Grey, and Grey didn't mind, he didn't ask any more questions.
He was given a task by the Second Prince, and although he didn't want to head out of the Palace, he didn't have a choice. He couldn't leave Klaus and the others there too, so he took them with him. They need to investigate a top Family that stayed in a city not too far from the Capital.
Grey and his friends left almost immediately, and the Seventh Prince was left alone in the Palace.
The Necromancer was still slowly poisoning the First Prince with the poison miasma in his body. Luckily, he's dead, so being infused with poison miasma didn't cause any harm to his body. Grey's understanding of the human body has grown to a frightening level thanks to all his research, of course, it's not something he's proud of, but someone has to do the dirty work.
….
Outside the Capital.
Grey informed his friends of the Prince's plans. They couldn't help but feel amused since they knew the Second Prince is well aware of who killed the Third Prince, and even though he was suspicious of the group, he didn't point it out yet.
"So what do we do there?" Klaus asked.
"A shakedown." Grey laughed.
"A shakedown?" Alice was confused.
"The Second Prince has something on them, and we're going to force them out, and then take all their treasures before anyone comes in." Grey explained with a grin.
"Now that's what I'm talking about." Klaus could feel his blood boiling when he heard this.
He has been missing excitement since they came to the Capital, he had even spent all his time cultivating and broke through to the Second stage of the Sovereign Plane. His strength has increased, and he needed someone to test it. Grey was completely out of the picture, he didn't want to get beat up. Reynolds isn't strong enough, so he wouldn't see his true strength. These top Families have a few Mid stage Sovereigns, he just needs to clash with one of them.
Reynolds was also excited about the prospect of doing this shakedown, it was time for fun.
Alice preferred fighting, so unlike the boys, she didn't see any excitement in this. Since she couldn't travel alone, she could only follow them.
The Gnome world isn't as bad as they thought it'd be. With the top experts absent, they were pretty much doing almost anything they wanted to do, which wasn't within their expectations when they first had the thought of coming here.
