Chapter 154: Milk Tea and Cake!
The ones who had gotten the top third, fourth, and fifth place scores were all from Cla.s.s One.
Lin Xin had taken the sixth-place spot, scoring around 692 points. It was generally a good score, especially compared to those around her. She smiled brightly, leaning back against her seat.
However, after her high score, everyone else’s fell back by a large margin.
Yao Tang, amidst all the cries, laughs, and tears, still didn’t reveal her score.
Qin Jing couldn’t help but glance at Sister Tang in curiosity. However, upon seeing how focused she was on reading, she couldn’t help but sigh at the sight.
!!She wasn’t really that surprised. Why would a G.o.d share her secrets?
..
In the teacher’s office, all the teachers were once again gathered around Teacher Luo Hua. The old man was sitting behind his desk, his chin tilted up in the air, enjoying the compliments being thrown at him.
“Yao Ran scored great! I heard she’s estimated to score around 700 points, right? I’m so jealous!”
Zhang Ting, the adviser of Cla.s.s 2, glanced at Luo Hua enviously.
If the students in her cla.s.s had managed to score this high, then wouldn’t that mean that the scholars.h.i.+p at the end of the semester would be given to one of her students?
However, there were always students who would do subpar in terms of their other cla.s.smates.
They must always accommodate to their needs, but even then, she still hoped.
“It’s mainly because Ranran had worked so hard on her scores. I heard from her parents that she doesn’t even sleep. If she didn’t get the highest score, then I’m simply not that good of a teacher.”
Luo Hua grinned in pride. However, upon seeing Xi Yan walk into the teacher’s office, he quickly changed the topic. “Besides, I know how to pick my students, unlike other Cla.s.ses.”
“After all, one may be great at the martial arts, but everyone knows that the pen is mightier than a sword.”
There was a hint of mockery in his words. Anyone with a discerning eye could see that he was targeting Xi Yan.
In the previous examinations, Yao Tang had always been the top student–surpa.s.sing every student in Cla.s.s One. In fact, she had always gained the upper hand.
Xi Yan suppressed the urge to scoff, and instead, turned away.
She opened her notebook and scribbled her other plans for the week, ignoring Luo Hua’s words.
..
The next morning, Yao Tang wore her jacket and stepped out of her dormitory. The calm and cool breeze brushed against her cheeks as she strolled down the sidewalk.
/ .
Even from afar, she could spot Cheng Yan standing by the school gate.
He was dressed in casual clothes, with his lips pursed.
However, as soon as he saw Yao Tang nearing, his lips turned into a smile. He stepped toward her with a nod of his head.
“The plane takes off in an hour. I’ve already prepared you some breakfast in the car.”
He naturally took her shoulder bag.
She hummed in agreement.
As soon as Yao Tang stepped inside the car, she saw a box of fruit cake already propped open. Its beautiful colors had been highlighted, with so many fruits delicately placed on the surface.
Her stomach growled.
It looked sweet–just the way she liked it.
Cheng Yan grabbed a cup of milk tea and handed it to her. “This time, it’s blueberry-flavored,” he stated.
There was a certain gentleness in his eyes.
Qin Hao, who had been sitting at the front, couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable at the sight. From the years he had known his boss, he never saw him speak in this tone, much less to a woman. It was both sweet and scary at the same time.
If the people at the Capital saw this scene…
It would’ve probably shocked them all to death!
Yao Tang took a sip of milk tea and nodded. “I like this!”
The blueberries were quite sweet, with a little bit of contrasting sourness that elevated the quality of the drink.
After drinking half of the cup, she turned her attention to the cake.
There was a lot of thought put into the pastry. The top and mid-layer were covered in fruits, and the cream looked quite a seat. Someone had taken the time to arrange such a masterpiece. Now, it’s time to see whether or not it was as good as it looked.
She grabbed her fork and took a bite. As soon as the chiffon touched her tongue, she closed her eyes in bliss. She didn’t just like it. She loved it!
The cream exploded in her mouth in pure flavor, with the fruits adding a soft, subtle crunch. It was a mixture of texture and taste. Every bite felt like a step closer to heaven’s gates.
Yao Tang smiled. Everything was to her liking.
“It’s very delicious.”
Hearing this, Cheng Yan smiled proudly–like a kid who had just been told he had done a good job. After all, he was the one who had created the cake and the milk tea.
Qin Hao glanced at his boss’s expression. If he weren’t driving, he would’ve already rolled his eyes and rested his head on his hands.
Who would’ve thought that his cold hearted boss would be so captivated by someone like Yao Tang?
It was an intriguing sight indeed.
They had finally arrived in Beijing at noon. By then, the three went to a local restaurant to grab a bite.
After this, Cheng Yan brought her to one of his residences for a short break before actually entering the Cheng Residence.
This time, n.o.body stopped them in entering the old lady’s room.
The Cheng Matriarch was leaning against the pillow. Reading gla.s.ses were propped on the bridge of her nose as she held the book close to her face. She was smiling, looking quite relaxed at the current setup.
“You seem to be in good spirits,” Cheng Yan said, walking in.
Hearing this, her smile widened even further. She was always happy to see her grandson.
When she saw Yao Tang walking behind the young man, she couldn’t help but be surprised at her appearance. However, the thought soon dissipated as she focused her attention back on the man.
“Yanyan!” The old lady put down her book with a smile. “I missed you!”
“I mainly brought Yao Tang here for a follow-up consultation to see how you’re doing.” Cheng Yan nodded in greeting as he moved a stool from under the bed. “Yao Tang, you can sit here.”
