Chapter 510: Black Pills
Translator: Tuiwen Editor: Tuiwen
Yao Tang’s harsh reprimand brought Xu Hong to a loss, and she had to take a moment to recover from the initial shock. When she did, though, she was raring to go for another savage argument.
Out of all the things she had dealt with today, getting slapped by a girl sure took the cake.
It seemed that she wouldn’t get through to these people by playing nice.
That was just as well. She had never experienced such humiliation in all her life. If she didn’t take revenge for her sufferings, then her name would no longer be Xu Hong!
She whirled around and glared at her husband. “What are you doing, just standing there? Your wife almost got beaten to death before your eyes! What are you waiting for, huh? Hurry up and chase these eyesores out of the house!”
!!Liu Zhi did as he was told and slowly approachedXu Xuan. However, before he could launch his attack,Qin Jingstepped forward and stood besideXu Xuan.
Together, the two girls blocked them from getting close to Yao TangandGrandma Xu. Unfortunately, they were no match against a grown man’s strength.
Xu Hong joined the fray, too. She grabbedXu Xuanby the arm and pulled her toward the door. “Don’t worry, Mom.Liu Zhiand I will be back shortly after we take out these pieces of garbage. I won’t give these people a chance to hurt you again!”
Her words aggravated Grandma Xu. The old woman had barely even recovered from her earlier upset. Feebly, she raised a hand and pointed at the door. Her lips trembled slightly, although no words came out.
The more anxious she was, the worse her condition got.
Even the pounding of her head had returned in full force, and her vision started to blur. Grandma Xuhad a horrible sense that she could pa.s.s out at any minute.
Yao Tang frowned at her reaction and quickly adjusted the position of the needles.
Then, she reached into her backpack and took out a bottle of pills. She popped one, intending for Grandma Xuto take it.
This didn’t escape Xu Hong’s sharp eyes.
“You d.a.m.n wretch!” she shrieked. “What are you trying to feed my mother? Don’t think that I will let you do whatever you want!”
She punched Xu Xuanin the stomach and pushed her aside before rus.h.i.+ng over and knocking the pill out ofYao Tang’s hand.
“Ha! I finally caught you in the act! You actually want to murder my mother, don’t you?”
Her eyes darted to the small bottle in Yao Tang’s other hand, and they narrowed at the sight of its contents. “What, is this some experimental specimen of yours?” she sneered. “Where did you even get such disgusting-looking stuff? I can tell it’s poison with just a single glance!”
Yao Tang was still staring at the wasted pill rolling at her feet. The expression on her face gradually turned dark and dangerous.
“You’re the one who’s going to kill Grandma Xuat this rate!”Qin Jingyelled as she struggled againstLiu Zhi.
Meanwhile, Xu Xuan jumped back to her feet and tried to drag Xu Hong outside. “You should leave. Stop bothering us, my family doesn’t need you.”
“That’s enough, you brat!” Xu Hongeasily shook the girl off and shoved her away again.
“You filthy little ingrate. This is my family, too. Even if my mother is no longer here, the house belongs to me, not you! You won’t get a single penny out of this old hag.”
“Shut up!” Xu Xuanexploded. So this was their purpose for barging in today and disrupting their lives. “You don’t have the right to say such things about Grandma!”
Xu Hong cackled at that, and she clapped her hands in mock applause. “Well done,Xu Xuan. I see you’re flipping out over the prospect of losing this house, huh? You ungrateful hypocrite! Your grandmother is lying here, fighting for her life, and all you care about is this dingy old house?”
It wasn’t difficult for her to twist the narrative. She was so used to manipulating others, after all.
“Mom, take a good look at Xu Xuan. She doesn’t even call me Auntie in front of you and yells at me like I wasn’t her elder. Did you hear what she just said? Not only is she lacking in manners, but basic human decency as well!”
To her horror, her mother had already closed her eyes, and her face was deathly pale. She didn’t look like she was still breathing.
“Mom? Mom! What happened?” Xu Hongrushed over and fawned overGrandma Xu.
It only lasted for a few seconds, though. She soon turned to Yao Tangand resumed her tirade.
“This is all your fault! If it weren’t for you, Mom wouldn’t be like this. For all I know, you probably conspired with Xu Xuanto murder my mother. If anything happens to Mom, I will never let you off!”
