Chapter 513: Momentarily Recovered
Translator: Tuiwen Editor: Tuiwen
Liu Zhi had yet to recover from the fall. She wasn’t expecting Yao Tang to be so strong.
He weighed almost 200 kilograms, and yet he was easily thrown down by a slip of a girl. Who would have thought?
Liu Zhi couldn’t help but cower asYao Tanghovered above him.
“No, no, not at all!” he stammered. “There’s definitely nothing wrong with the pills!”
A few feet away, Xu Hongwas still flopping on her back. She seethed at her husband’s words. She was hoping that her darling husband would defend her, but it was apparent that he didn’t have the guts to even stand up for himself.
!!In the next second, the burning sensation left her throat. It just vanished without a trace, as if it had never been there at all.
Xu Hong patted her neck in surprise. After making sure that she was well again, she got to her feet with renewed vigor.
She pointed an angry finger at Liu Zhiand spat out, “Look at you, you sniveling coward, you’re even worse than me!”
No sooner had she spoken than the burn returned. Xu Honggrabbed her throat again, her already pale face turning even whiter.
She had clearly recovered just now, and Yao Tanghadn’t even done anything, so why was she being tortured again?
It was so much worse this time, too.
It was utterly unbearable.
“Tell me,” Xu Hongbit out through the fires raging at her throat. “What’s in that pill?”
She ended her question with a gasp as she lost the ability to speak yet again.
Liu Zhi scampered toward his wife, his face wrought with panic. “Xu Hong,Xu Hong! What’s wrong, huh? Please don’t scare me like this!”
Xu Hong’s eyes welled with tears. She didn’t know how to explain it herself.
She was fine just a moment ago. Her suffering only returned after she had spoken.
She didn’t know what in the world was going on.
Furious and desperate, she pinched Liu Zhi’s side with all the strength she had left, all while glaring at him in disdain.
Liu Zhi seemed to understand what she was trying to say, and he whirled around to yell atYao Tangonce more.
“What the h.e.l.l did you give my wife? Tell me right now! If you don’t cure her, I’ll be sure to beat the life out of you before handing you over to the police! First, you harm my mother-in-law, and now you’ve poisoned my wife. I will make you pay for this!”
After his declaration, Liu Zhitook out his phone and dialed the authorities.
But before the call could go through, Grandma Xuwoke up and sat up in bed. She looked around in confusion and rasped, “What happened here?”
Even as she asked them, her memories returned, starting from before she had fainted. She made to get out of bed, determined to seek justice for her loved ones.
Yao Tang was next to her in a split second, pus.h.i.+ng her back against the pillows. “Leave it to us, Grandma.”
She sounded unbothered, and her calmness carried over to the old woman and soothed her anxious heart.
Grandma Xu glanced around and was gratified to see that Xu Xuan was safe and all right.
She was just about to sigh in relief when she spotted a figure sneaking up behind Yao Tang.
It was Liu Zhi, and he was holding a large earthen jar in his hands.
Since Grandma Xuhad regained consciousness, everyone’s attention had s.h.i.+fted to her, and no one else noticedLiu Zhi’s movements.
He came up to Yao Tangand lifted the jar high up, clearly planning to smash it on the girl’s head.
“Be careful, Little Tang!” Grandma Xucried out.
She tried to pull Yao Tangout of the way, but it was too late.
Liu Zhi was already bringing the jar down beforeGrandma Xueven touchedYao Tang.
‘No!’
Grandma Xu felt cold all over. She shut her eyes, unable to bring herself to watch the horrific scene that was about to unfold.
To everyone’s amazement, Yao Tangturned around just in time.
Bang!
With a twist of her elbow, she smashed the jar into pieces. It exploded in the air, sending broken shards down to the floor.
