Chapter 569: Say Something Wrong
Translator: Tuiwen Editor: Tuiwen
Did something really happen to the Young Miss?
As Nie Yun felt a s.h.i.+ver run down his spine, he heard one of his subordinates say, “Young Master Yao, Captain Nie, the Young Miss is back.”
He immediately breathed a long sigh of relief. She was back, that’s good. However, a thought suddenly occurred to him and he glanced up, panicked.
“How is she?” he quickly asked. “Has she been injured? Is she okay? Is it serious?”
“No, she looks fine.” The subordinate took one look at Yao Yan and immediately turned to run.
!!Nie Yun could only watch as his subordinate slipped away.
She wanted to go with him, but being the captain of the guards, she knew that she wouldn’t be able to escape.
Before he could speak, Yao Yan questioned, “Is there any news about Tangtang? Where is she? Should I pick her up?”
At that moment, the young man had already taken his keys and was about to leave the room and go to Yao Tang.
However, before he could go, Nie Yun interrupted, “Young Miss is fine! She’s arrived home safely, so there’s no need to pick her up.”
“Is that so?”
While Yao Yan’s voice was cold, there was a trace of concern and relief in his words. He hurriedly left the room.
Yao Tang had just walked upstairs when she saw a pair of bodyguards running toward her. They were then followed by Yao Yan, whose eyes were narrowed directly at her.
Feeling his eyes bore on her back, she could tell something was wrong. A part of her wanted to run out of the house, but it was already too late. He had already seen her.
“You’re here,” she greeted.
However, before she could return to her room, Yao Yan stopped her. “Why are you in such a hurry?” he asked. “Where are you going?”
She had no other choice but to respond.
She glanced at Nie Yun who was standing beside Yao Yan. There was a hint of resentment in the bodyguard’s eyes as if he was demanding where she had gone.
“You’re still at home. I thought you’ve gone to work.” She coughed awkwardly. “The teacher arranged some test papers, so I was about to arrange them and make some copies.”
“Test papers?”
She quickly nodded. “The test is next week, so we need more revision papers.”
“So, when you suddenly disappeared today, does that have anything to do with these test papers you’re speaking of?”
Yao Tang choked.
It seemed that her older brother wasn’t easy to fool. If she continued to lie about it, he’d definitely start looking into it, wondering what she had done. s.h.i.+fting just a bit, she sighed. “I was wrong. I shouldn’t have said it.”
“What’s wrong?”
He raised his eyebrows.
“I should’ve sent you a message when I left,” she admitted. “I made you guys worried. I shouldn’t have.”
When he heard this, Nie Yun’s face softened, and Yao Yan had fallen silent.
There was total silence as the three people looked at each other.
Yao Yan looked at Yao Tang again with a complicated look in his eyes.
After a few minutes, he finally sighed and rubbed his temples.
“It really doesn’t matter whether you sent a message or not, but it’s best that you don’t disappear on them again,” he said softly. “Only then will I be a.s.sured of your safety. If you run away and disappear like that, no one will know what would happen or how they can help you.”
Yao Tang quickly nodded.
However, as to whether or not she’d listen to her brother, that was another thing.
Thinking of this, he sighed. “Don’t leave the bodyguard’s range in the future. We wouldn’t feel at ease if we don’t know where you are. You’re a member of the research inst.i.tute so your presence here puts you at risk,” he explained. “The bodyguards—they aren’t here to monitor your every move. They’re just there to ensure your safety.”
The bodyguard wouldn’t normally report to his boss about what Yao Tang was doing outside of school.
However, Nie Yun would only report to Yao Yanwhen something urgent had happened, like the time when she needed some music scores.
“I really didn’t do anything out of the ordinary.” She shrugged, recalling the shop next to the hall. “I entered the beauty foot spa to soak my feet.”
Hearing the name of the Beauty Foot Spa, the corners of his mouth twitched and he fell silent.
Even Nie Yun looked uncomfortable.
The beauty foot spa she had mentioned…they had other special services tied to it, but she had gone there just to soak her feet?
Yao Yan wanted to say something, but he couldn’t, not really sure what to say.
Nie Yun’s expression was strange.
