Chapter 577: Guinea Pigs
Translator: Tuiwen Editor: Tuiwen
Mrs. Meng already knew what kind of person Qin Manwas. When her daughter had been injured, all the woman had done was gloat about her own daughter. And now, she was pretending to be concerned for her.
Two years had pa.s.sed, and she only bothered to call her now.
She obviously had a motive.
When she heard that the woman was about to hang up, Qin Man’s face fell. She tightened her grip on the phone.
“Wait a minute! I…I actually called you today to ask for a favor. My Ranran…her ankle’s fractured.”
!!Mrs. Meng blinked in surprise.
She didn’t expect this to be the reason!
Yao Ran was injured?
“I can’t believe it! What a pity!”
Her voice was filled with regret and even a hint of surprise.
No one could tell what she really felt.
“I didn’t expect this kind of thing to happen to my Ranran. She was supposed to join a dance compet.i.tion in a few months’ time, and now that her ankle is fractured…” She sniffled. “I don’t know what she’d do.”
Mrs. Meng softened.
“Don’t worry. Our research team is developing a medicine that addresses bone healing. As soon as it’s been developed, I’ll be sure to send them to you too, okay?”
Qin Man sighed in relief as a large smile played on her face.
“Thank you. I’m so lucky to have met you. Thank you, thank you so much.”
Mrs. Meng chuckled. “We’re both mothers. It’s only natural for us to care for our children. Besides, I’ve seen Ranranin the past. She’s so outstanding. It would be a pity if she were to be a cripple her entire life.”
While her words were polite, the corners of her lips inched up into a cold smile.
So it seemed that this woman wanted to come for her medicine. She even pretended to care about Lingling! What kind of woman was she?
But then…wasn’t this an opportunity for her as well?
The medication was still in its development stages. Since this woman pretended to care for her daughter, then she shouldn’t blame the Meng Family to use Yao Ranas a guinea pig.
The medication being developed wasn’t actually known to the outside world.
In fact, the medicine had only been tested on animals this entire time, never humans.
They had been worried about this. A part of them didn’t know whether or not they should give it to Lingling to try, given the lack of human experiments.
Yet, it seemed that time was good to her.
She had finally found someone.
After exchanging a couple more pleasantries, Qin Man hung up the phone and turned to her daughter.
“Ranran,” she said excitedly. “The Meng Family promised to send the medication over.”
“Don’t worry,” she added. “I’m sure they’ve developed the medicine to be very effective. If everything goes well, you might not even have to undergo the surgery!”
Qin Man smiled. “It’s a good thing you remembered her. Otherwise, we would’ve missed this opportunity!”
A smile appeared on Yao Ran’s face.
“That’s great. If the Meng Family was able to develop such a medicine, then Sister Meng Lingwould finally be able to recover.” Yao Ransmiled happily. “I’ll definitely remember their generosity.”
“When we go to Beijing, you must personally go to the Meng Family to thank them.”
“I will.”
What they didn’t know was the plans being formulated by the Meng Family.
It seemed that they would really, only be used as guinea pigs.
..
The weekend pa.s.sed by very quickly.
To keep Yao Tang’s strength up, Yao Yan had her eat these small wontons Jiang Wanhad cooked last Sunday Night.
She had personally wrapped all of them herself.
Under their gazes, Yao Tang finished them all, down to the very last bite. A small smile slipped into her lips as she glanced up at him. “I should go now, thank you,” she said casually.
However, when she arrived at the school gate, she found out that she was late.
The gates were already closed.
Only a small door was left open for all the late students.
At the side of the small door was a discipline teacher who would ask their students to register their names in his notebook.
If their names were recorded, their cla.s.s points would be deducted.
Yao Tang took one glance at the gate before walking to the southeast corner of the campus, where a tall wall was waiting for her.
She took a deep breath and pulled herself up over the wall.
