Chapter 617: Simple and Straightforward Solutions
Translator: Tuiwen Editor: Tuiwen
She may never know how Yao Tang had done it, but Yao Ran was sure that the former had a hand in her injury.
Besides, if Yao Tanghadn’t shown up at the party all of a sudden,Yang Nianwouldn’t have publicly acknowledged her as his fiancée, andYao Ranwouldn’t have been forced to pretend she was hurt.
In the end, she had only humiliated herself in front of their schoolmates.
Yao Ran could just imagine the horrible things those busybodies must be saying behind her back.
Yao Tang glanced at her briefly and spoke in an indifferent tone.
!!“Maybe if you stopped appearing in front of me like this, you could live a better life. Also, don’t move around when you aren’t fit to do so. Just stay at the hospital. That would be best for everyone.”
Yao Ran’s lips curled into a sneer, her hands balling into fists. “In that case,” she said through gritted teeth, “I do wish Sister a long and healthy life!”
Although she spoke of blessings, the look on her face conveyed a litany of curses.
Yao Ran vowed that she would never stop looking for the truth. One day, she would prove that Yao Tang was notYao YuanandQin Man’s biological daughter at all.
‘Let’s see if Old Madam Yaowould still favor you when that happens!’
“Likewise,” Yao Tangreplied with a smirk.
Yao Ran flushed with rage.
She struggled to calm herself.
Before leaving, she couldn’t help but lean close to Yao Tangand whisper, “You’d better be careful in the future. Don’t let me catch you doing anything you wouldn’t want me to know.”
“Be my guest,” Yao Tangdrawled.
She didn’t seem bothered by the threat at all, or its underlying implication.
With one last glare, Yao Ranturned on her heel and stomped away.
Yao Tang watched her go, not quite sure what just happened. Why did that girl even approach her when she had nothing important to say?
The test format and the number of items were still the same as in the preliminary exams, but the questions were more difficult this time around.
More than that, the level of difficulty also increased with each question. The final compet.i.tion employed the process of elimination, as the board of examiners deemed it the best way to distinguish the most outstanding student among the rest.
Sure enough, the examinees felt the blow of their decision all too well.
Most of them couldn’t even get past the first question.
In the midst of their struggle, however, a girl stood up from her seat and walked across the examination hall to turn her paper in.
Some of them craned their necks to take a peek at her answer sheet.
Although they couldn’t see very clearly, they could at least tell that she had managed to answer every question.
Not a single item was left blank.
One of the examinees looked up at the clock on the wall and saw that only half an hour had pa.s.sed since they had begun with the exam.
It was inconceivable for someone to have finished the entire test in such a short amount of time.
That girl was terrifying.
Or, at least, her speed was.
Even the invigilator herself was shocked by Yao Tang’s submission. Her first thought was that the girl had probably given up on the exam, but she was surprised to find that she had answered every question.
The woman had supervised countless exams in her career, but she had never encountered a student who had submitted her paper this early.
Perhaps this student had filled out the items blindly… She must have, right?
A small smile crept into the invigilator’s lips.
She understood that a student might break under pressure and resort to such reckless behavior, but this was unacceptable when it came to Math Olympiad exams.
When the invigilator glanced at Yao Tang’s answer sheet, however, she froze.
She had been bored a while ago and decided to try her hand at answering the test herself. She had already solved the first question and was in the middle of the second one when Yao Tanginterrupted her.
She looked back and forth between her paper and Yao Tang’s. They had the same answer to the first question.
The only difference was that Yao Tang’s solution was much simpler.
It didn’t even make a third of the invigilator’s entire equation. She had to admit that she found this impressive.
The woman then proceeded to the second question. Yao Tang’s solution started off differently, and they eventually used different methods to address the problem.
Even so, they still arrived at the same answer.
The invigilator’s eyes widened as she pored over Yao Tang’s solutions. Her methods were very simple and straightforward.
So simple, in fact, that once the invigilator berated herself for not thinking of them sooner.
But it would have taken a great deal of training for one to think of these methods to solve such difficult problems.
To think that a student was able to apply them so efficiently…
