Chapter 750: No Manners
“There’s no need for Madam Meng to worry about me. I’ve already booked a hotel. It’s not far from here.”
“All right. If that’s the case, then at least let me send you off.”
However, on the inside, Yao Ran was panicking.
She had initially a.s.sumed that Qin Man would be accompanying her. After all, there are rooms in this ward, and the conditions were quite acceptable.
!!However, it seemed that she had already booked a hotel far away from her.
She immediately grabbed onto her mother’s arm. “Mom, can you stay with me, please?” she whispered. “The conditions aren’t bad here anyway. I’m sure we’ll be fine here.”
She had hoped deep inside that her mother would choose to stay. After all, they were in such an unfamiliar place with so one by their side. She was nervous, as any kid would be.
Although Qin Man didn’t love her, she’d still feel more at ease with her around.
After all, the woman also wanted her foot to recover as soon as possible.
However, before she could even reply, a burst of laughter echoed from the other corner of the room.
Madam Meng crossed her arms over her chest, her eyes are bright with mockery. “You and your daughter have such a good relations.h.i.+p,” she said snidely. “She couldn’t even bear to part with you for just a few days, unlike my Lingling. She has grown to be quite an independent woman over the years.”
As soon as Qin Man heard this, she froze.
Was she trying to say that she didn’t teach her child well?
Flames burned inside her heart, and she immediately shook off her daughter’s hand. “How old are you?” she snapped. “You’re still so clingy!”
She still had to go shopping later in the afternoon. Where would she find the time to take care of her?
Besides, it’s not like there’s no one to take care of her in the hospital.
She was indeed really spoiled!
“This child is just a little scared,” she quickly explained to Madam Meng before turning to her. “Ranran, you have to learn to stand on your own two feet. You’re almost an adult now. If I’m still going to be by your side, you wouldn’t have the chance to grow up.”
“Be good, okay? I’ll be back.”
This was a hospital after all. Who knew if anyone had died in here?
Wasn’t it bad luck to live in this place?
Just the thought of it was enough to push Qin Man even further away. She certainly wasn’t going to live here!
Whatever!
“But—”
“Mrs. Yao, we haven’t seen each other for quite some time. Why don’t we head over to the new cafe for a cup of coffee? We’ve recently imported a batch from Scotland, and they’re quite fragrant,” Mrs. Meng said with a smile.
Qin Man’s eyes lit up. “Afternoon tea? All right, I accept!”
The two of them chatted away as they walked out of the ward.
Meng Ling also followed right behind them.
No one could see the strange light that flashed across her eyes and the cold smile that had slipped into her lips. She looked like a predator who was just about to catch her prey.
Yao Ran was left alone in the huge ward, and she couldn’t help but gaze out the window. She was alone, just as she had always been.
Not long after, a knock came from the door.
“Who’s there?”
“Miss Yao, we have come to examine your foot. Would that be all right?”
As soon as she gave her permission, a group of doctors stepped into her room.
Behind them was a bunch of medical equipment she didn’t recognize.
“Nurse, get ready to record!”
The doctor put on his gloves and his eyes shone with interest. Before he could say anything, he placed Yao Ran’s foot right on top of the instrument.
The instrument was blinking in a greenlight, as soon as her feet grazed the cold surface.
It was also beeping!
She froze.
What was happening? The doctors were all staring at Yao Ran’s foot. No one could tell what they were thinking, but even then, she couldn’t help but feel worried.
Seeing this, the doctor quickly comforted, “Don’t worry. We’re just checking your foot.”
“Okay.” Even then, her voice was trembling.
She didn’t like the feeling of this.
“Dr. w.a.n.g, get ready to inject the medicine!”
“Doctor Chen, fix her feet on the table.”
What? Yao Ran sat there, frozen as the group of people started to pry on her foot. What was happening?
