Chapter 796 - 796 Taken a Captive
796 Taken a Captive
The elders acted as if they knew nothing about it and waited for her to continue.
“And then?” Elder Li urged. “What happened next?”
“We captured that elder and planned to use him to negotiate with the Green Cloud Pavilion. We wanted to exchange him for Elder Chen and his disciple. They agreed to the deal.”
Yao Tang’s explanation was brief and concise.
!!“And then you guys came back? Just like that?”
Elder Xu seemed unconvinced.
But Yao Tang only nodded.
Elder Xu muttered something to himself, doubts swirling in his heart. How many people did the Green Cloud Pavilion send this time?
“Old Man w.a.n.g, this is an utter betrayal of our kindness and generosity. If that b.a.s.t.a.r.d hadn’t done so much for the Cabinet, I wouldn’t have trusted him at all. I didn’t think he would stab us in the back like this!”
Elder Li’s chest tightened with bitterness.
He couldn’t believe that his faith in the goodness of others had almost led to a disaster.
As for Chauffeur w.a.n.g, he had worked for the Cabinet for over a decade.
They never had a reason to think that he was a snake in their midst.
Sadly, they were mistaken.
“It’s a good thing that the people from the Green Cloud Pavilion were careless enough to send only one elder,” the long-robed one said.
“Otherwise, you would have been in grave danger.”
Elder Xu nodded in agreement. “By the looks of it, they were pretty confident in their scheme. That was a close one, to be sure.”
Yao Tang listened to their discussion in silence.
At that moment, a disciple came over and told her, “The car is parked. It’s a weaponized vehicle, isn’t it? Where did it come from?”
A single glance at the exterior was all it took for him to know that the car was modified.
It wasn’t until he entered the vehicle that he realized the extent of its features. It had all kinds of complicated weapons and other attack equipment inside, as well as ammunition supplies.
It definitely wasn’t your ordinary car.
Yao Tang felt everyone’s eyes on her. “I borrowed it from the Elder of the Green Cloud Pavilion. It drove it over and it’s quite comfortable. Good performance, too.”
Although her words were said lightly, her pa.s.sion for cars was apparent.
Unfortunately, it got lost in the implications of what she had said. So the car belonged to the Green Pavilion, a sworn enemy of the Cabinet.
The disciple couldn’t help but gape at Yao Tang.
When he finally snapped back to his senses, he asked, “What about that person inside the car?”
By the time he had parked the car, he realized that someone else was in the backseat, all tied up. His face was severely disfigured, and his clothes were all bloodied. He looked terrifying.
Additionally, his mouth was stuffed with a ball of cloth, and he struggled desperately against his binds.
But of course, the disciple didn’t dare to make a move on his own, so he sought Yao Tang out to ask for instructions on how to proceed.
Who was that person, anyway?
Meanwhile, the elders were frozen in shock.
If the enemy had brought a weaponized vehicle with them, then that meant that they were a more formidable force than the elders had originally presumed.
How did Yao Tang subdue all those people?
And how did she manage to catch one of them so easily?
The elders could only scratch their heads and stroke their beards. As puzzled as they were, they knew one thing for sure—this matter wasn’t as simple as it seemed.
If the other party was this well-equipped, then they should have been well-prepared, too!
And yet, Yao Tang had escaped unscathed and even took the Green Cloud pavilion’s elder captive.
The Cabinet Elders looked at each other, then looked at Yao Tang.
Their judgment was palpable in the air.
They might be old, but they were far from senile. They wouldn’t be fooled so easily.
Yao Tang bristled under their scrutiny. After racking her brains for a while, she said, “I already took a driving test. I have a license.”
The elders’ turned even more glum.
Who gave a d.a.m.n about her driver’s license? They were just worried about her and scared at the prospect of her falling into evil hands.
They knew they needed to know more about the incident.
