Chapter 1922: Do You Think You’re Someone Important?
Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
A few well-dressed middle-aged men and women walked in from outside.
The rest of the people stayed outside.
The person who spoke just now was not tall. He was at most 170 centimeters tall and was slightly plump. When he entered, he walked to the front and was the most imposing figure among them.
The middle-aged man’s name was Zhang Wenlai. He was Zhang Yuhan’s father.
His family was in the s.h.i.+pping business and earned hundreds of millions of yuan in revenue a year. He was quite popular in the international s.h.i.+pping industry in Zhonghai.
“You must be the parents of these children. Since you don’t know what happened, I’ll tell you again.” Lin Yi said.
“Your children have committed intentional injury, and according to the criminal law, they must bear the corresponding criminal responsibility. When my colleagues arrive, they will be taken away. If you have time, you can go find a lawyer now instead of wasting it here.”
“Dad.”
Seeing Zhang Wenlai, Zhang Yuhan stood behind him and pointed at Lin Yi.
“He’s the one who wants to arrest us.”
Zhang Wenlai smiled, patted his daughter’s head, and said, “It’s nothing, I’ll take care of it.”
Then, Zhang Wenlai turned to Lin Yi and spoke.
“I’ve heard about this from Director Zhao. They just bullied an out-of-town student, it’s no big deal. We’ll pay for the medical expenses.”
Zhang Wenlai unzipped his pocket, took out a stack of brand-new hundred-yuan bills, and threw them in front of Lin Yi.
“Take this to treat that out-of-town student. It’s no big deal, no need to blow it out of proportion.”
“Exactly, they just bullied someone, and n.o.body died. We’ll cover the medical expenses.”
The speaker was a middle-aged woman named w.a.n.g Nan. She was wearing a wine-red dress and carrying a Hermès bag. She stood in front of Li Yanfeng.
“We’re so many here, giving her ten thousand each isn’t a big deal.” w.a.n.g Nan said.
“Tell her family not to make a fuss. With this money, they can improve their lives in Zhonghai.”
Their words were met with agreement from others, all of them treating it as a trivial matter.
“You do have a point.” Lin Yi shrugged. “Since you all think it’s not a big deal and money can solve it, we can refrain from making arrests. But in the future, you might want to be careful with your own kids. They could end up like Sun Peipei, and then someone will have to pay you twelve thousand each. Seems like a profitable deal.”
Everyone’s expressions changed. Ma Wenlai shouted, “What are you talking about?! If anyone dares to touch my daughter, I’ll kill them!”
Slap!
Lin Yi stood up abruptly and slapped Ma Wenlai across the face, knocking him to the ground.
“Who do you think you are? Do you really think you’re somebody important?”
Ma Wenlai clutched his face, clearly stunned by Lin Yi’s slap.
“I’m telling you, you have two choices.” Lin Yi said.
“First, get out of here and let this matter go through the judicial process.
“Second, I’ll let your kids go now, but you better be careful they don’t end up dead out there.”
“Lin Yi, watch your words.” Li Xianghui interjected.
Lin Yi’s behavior had crossed a line, making this a dangerous situation.
But Lin Yi remained unfazed, showing no intention of backing down.
“As a public servant, how can you say such things? We’ll report you!”
“Go ahead, I’m waiting.”
At this moment, the sound of police sirens blared outside. The precinct officers had arrived.
Soon, three people came in from outside: Zhang Demin, Zhang Zixin, and Zhang Peng.
Looking at the scene in the office, the three of them had exceptionally serious expressions.
“Brother Lin, are we taking everyone away?” Zhang Peng asked.
Lin Yi nodded and pointed at Zhang Yuhan, Li Yanfeng, and the others.
“Cuff these people and take them away.”
“Got it.”
Zhang Peng took out his handcuffs and handcuffed Zhang Yuhan, Li Yanfeng, and the others, preparing to take them away.
“Let go of my son. He’s not an adult yet. You have no right to take him away!”
w.a.n.g Nan had already lost her rationality. He stepped forward and grabbed Zhang Peng’s hand, trying to stop him.
“Let go of my hand. You’re obstructing the judicial process!” Zhang Peng berated loudly.
“Who do you think you are? How dare you talk to me like that? Let me tell you, my husband is from Sinopec. Be careful or I’ll get him to deal with you!”
“It’s useless no matter who comes!” Zhang Peng said.
“I’ll warn you for the last time. You’re obstructing the judicial process. If you don’t let go, don’t blame us for being impolite.”
“Get lost, don’t try to scare me here!”
“F*ck!”
Zhang Peng cursed. He grabbed w.a.n.g Nan’s hand and pressed her to the ground. He also used handcuffs to restrain her.
“Take them with you!”
Seeing that w.a.n.g Nan had been subdued, the other parents in the office were also terrified.
Only then did they realize that they could not restrain these people with their own abilities.
Based on the current situation, they could only let nature take its course and think of a solution later.
Zhang Peng controlled w.a.n.g Nan, putting an end to any further dissent.
Seeing their parents silenced, Zhang Yuhan and the others started crying.
They thought that their parents’ presence would save them, but they were still taken away.
“Daughter, don’t be scared. Dad is here, and I’ll get you back home tonight.”
Gu Yiran sneered disdainfully. With Lin Yi involved, going home was out of the question.
After handcuffing everyone, Lin Yi and his team left the office.
It was break time, and many teachers and students were outside, watching the commotion.
Seeing Lin Yi and his team come out with Zhang Yuhan and the others in handcuffs, they couldn’t help but grimace.
This was too scary.
Exiting the teaching building, the twelve students and Li Yanfeng’s mother, w.a.n.g Nan, were all escorted into the car and taken to Xinshan Police Station.
At the station, the twelve were taken to separate interrogation rooms. However, the interrogation work did not require Lin Yi’s involvement.
Zhang Peng’s skills were sufficient to handle the students.
“Lin Yi, the boss wants to see you,” Li Xianghui said upon returning to the office.
“Liu Bureau?” Lin Yi asked.
Li Xianghui nodded. “Probably about this case. Tone down your temper a bit. This is a sensitive issue and needs to be handled appropriately. Understand what I’m saying?”
“Understood.”
Lin Yi nodded. “I’ll go first.”
“Go on.”
After leaving the office, Lin Yi turned around and went to the third floor. He went into Liu Guangxian’s office and smiled.
“Leader, you were looking for me.”
