He kept moving on and, at last, noticed a white-leafed, presumably dead tree in front of him. Despite having been sliced in half, the tree is still alive. There was a table and seats not far from the tree. A man with long, silvery hair and pure white robes is sitting down to serve tea. Mo Xuejing recognized the man right away when he saw his perfect, lovely face.

He has seen this man's visage many times in the small world he and Ye Jieye share. The man in the picture had silver eyes and light brown hair instead of silver. One eye is completely black, the other is pure silver, yet this person's eyes are different. Hei Anjing is this man, for sure.

Hei Anjing spoke even without looking at him, "You are finally here. I've been waiting for you. Join me for tea."

Mo Xuejing was silent but still joined Hei Anjing at the table, quietly looking at him. Hei Anjing's lips turned into a playful smile as he slowly sipped on his tea.

"Have you been waiting for me here?" Mo Xuejing asked.

Hei Anjing answered, "Yes. Your feelings for him had reached the threshold, and because of it, your possessiveness made you want more of him. Deep inside, you know that you two will never be equal because his existence for you is like your savior and the only person your heart has beat for."

"If I become you, can I stand beside him without feeling this way?" Mo Xuejing asked.

Hei Anjing replied, "The answer is no. My feelings for him are stronger than what you have now. A possessiveness that doesn't allow even a single bug to approach him. Even his subordinates will be at arm's length. Killing anything that dares to take him away. You will even be jealous of your children and his brother.

My feelings are murkier than yours. Moreover, your negative feelings will be as strong as your love for him. But becoming me meant you'll have everything of his and you'll have power that can contend with his. You will be his equal. You will have the power to protect him."

"Protect him. We will become equal. I no longer need to stand behind him and fight together instead," Mo Xuejing mumbles. He suddenly looks at Hei Anjing. "If I agree, will I still be me?"

"No. You shall become me. You are still you, but at the same time, you and I will be one," Hei Anjing said, finally looking at his soul fragment in front of him. "I'm a bit tired. I took over your body because he is in danger. I hope you don't mind.

You can take your time to think. I'm sleepy but still feel worried about things. Once I fell into a slumber, only you can protect him. I will lend you my powers while I rest, as whether you can control it depends solely on you."

Ye Jieye was taken aback to see a smile so familiar, but he soon recognized that this person was Mo Xuejing and not his Jing'er when he heard them refer to him as "A'Ye." After a brief moment of shock, he embraced Mo Xuejing.

"That's good. Our cubs haven't been found yet. We should go looking for them, or they won't eat a proper meal, which separates us," Ye Jieye said as he gave Mo Xuejing's forehead a kiss.

The pair decided to get up. Ye Jieye got up and moved the bed aside, but not before noticing that the surroundings were not what he recalled, but that Hei Anjing's memories from when he took over his body remained, so Mo Xuejing knew what had transpired while he was sleeping.

Mo Xuejing scowled as he noticed the water surrounding them retracting and a ma.s.sive octopus that appeared to be a twisted monster.

He mumbles, "How could he look that ugly?"

Although Mo Xuejing's candid remark seems so inappropriate in this context, it is impossible to overlook the disgust and grimace on his face. Even Ye Jieye could not help but giggle at how careless he was in this dangerous circ.u.mstance.

Ye Jieye said, "Baby, that's not a monster but Cthulhu. The G.o.d of Madness and Sea, Cthulhu."

Ye Jieye stared at Mo Xuejing and saw no indication that a soul merge had happened. He answered Leica's question. "No, they haven't merged yet. There is only A'Mo's soul in that body."
