Chapter 12

Wet Clothes; No Legs, But The Waist Remained

After Su Ying lit the fire, she got up and walked over to Xiao Jin. She reached out and touched Ji in his arms.

“Why is he burning again? Give me the child.” Su Ying didn’t wait for Xiao Jin’s reply and took Ji away from him.

She sat by the fire, took off Ji’s clothes, and placed them in front of the fire to dry. By the light of the fire, she examined his wounds. They were not so red and swollen previously, but the inflammation worsened after the wounds were soaked in the rain today, also causing the fever.

Su Ying carefully cleaned the wounds with gauze and gave Ji an anti-inflammatory shot when no one was looking. After she treated Ji’s wounds and fed him medicine, she dressed him in fire-dried clothes and carefully placed him on the dried tiger skin.

After Su Ying carried Ji away, Xiao Jin’s gaze was fixed on her and Ji. He frowned even more as he watched her carefully and seriously clean Ji’s wounds.

Su Ying’s behavior was nothing like before for the past two days. If it weren’t for the mole on the back of her neck, he would have suspected that she was a different person. When did she ever care about the lives of her two children in the past?

After taking care of Ji, Su Ying went to settle Mama Zhao. She took off her outer cloth and dried it for her. She also secretly gave her medicine.

In the deepest part of the cave, there was a ‘7’-shaped groove. She took the remaining torch and went in to light it up. Afterward, she removed her clothes and hung them on a big stone to dry.

“Su Ying!”

Just as Su Ying was about to take off her undergarments, she suddenly heard Xiao Jin’s cold voice.

She looked up and saw Xiao Jin staring at her with his dark, cold eyes.

Su Ying raised her eyebrows. “Why? Are you going to tell me that you still have a waist even though you lost your legs?”

Xiao Jin understood the meaning of her words, and the veins on his forehead suddenly jumped. “Shameless! Don’t hurt my eyes.” With that, he looked away as if he was looking at something dirty.

Su Ying snorted coldly, and her temper flared up. A sinister smile flashed across her crystal-clear phoenix eyes. She got up, walked over to Xiao Jin, and squatted down.

Xiao Jin looked at her coldly, only to see her reach for his belt.

Xiao Jin’s eyes darkened, and a murderous aura burst out from his body. He grabbed her hand. “Su Ying, don’t imagine that I will not take your life!”

Su Ying felt a sharp pain in her palm. This man was severely injured, yet he still had so much strength. His body must be made of steel.

However, she didn’t show any weakness as she approached him and said: “I saw that Your Highness’ clothes were drenched, so I just wanted to take them off and put them over the fire to dry.”

There was only a palm’s distance between them, and Xiao Jin could smell gra.s.s faintly on her body instead of the stench of sweat. After bathing, Su Ying’s beauty was fully revealed.

In Xiao Jin’s memories, Su Ying had always been delicate and weak, but the person in front of him had a heroic aura mixed in between her brows. Her eyes were bright like shattered stars, which he had never seen before.

This wasn’t a look that Su Ying would ever possess in the past.

If the person in front of him was still the same, then it could only be that she had disguised herself too well in the past. However, Xiao Jin felt that possibility was very slim. No matter how much a person hid, they always let their guard down at some point. Xiao Jin again suspected that the person before him was not Su Ying.

Xiao Jin tightened his grip on her hand, his deep eyes locked on her face. “Who on earth are you? You are not Su Ying. Who sent you? ”

Su Ying was stunned for a split second but quickly regained her senses and broke free from Xiao Jin’s hand. She looked at him with a faint smile: “If you suspect my ident.i.ty, you can verify it yourself. I’ll corporate at any time.”

Xiao Jin clenched his fists. Although Su Ying was only dazed for a moment, he still caught the look in her eyes. This woman had become even more shameless after the change!

Su Ying looked at his defeated expression and felt extremely happy. She didn’t bother to tease him anymore and quickly dried her clothes by the fire. Then, she threw a bottle of medicine and gauze into Jiang Yang’s hands.

“If you don’t want your Prince’s wounds to rot, apply the medicine for him.”

Jiang Yang saw the confrontation between the two just now. He didn’t refuse and walked to Xiao Jin with the medicine. “Your Highness, I keep feeling something strange about that evil woman.”

He still didn’t believe that the love-stricken idiot would suddenly become so powerful.

Xiao Jin’s sword-like brows furrowed deeply. Before he lost consciousness due to heavy injury, he had been sure that the person was the real Su Ying. However, after he woke up, Su Ying changed completely.

Something must have happened that he didn’t know about in those few hours. But at that time, the two children were present. It seemed that he could only try to ask the children and see if they could tell him something.

“Princess, I went to get some food. You should eat quickly.” After Bai Shuang took good care of Ling, she went to the bailiffs to get the rations.

Su Ying wasn’t the least interested in the dry rations that could choke someone to death, but she accepted them. Then, she took some compressed biscuits and two pieces of tiger meat from the bag behind her and gave them to Bai Shuang. “This is for you and Ling. Eat this first. I saved it earlier.”

Bai Shuang did not suspect and took the food to feed Ling.

After eating and drinking to her heart’s content, Su Ying put on her dried clothes. The cave had limited fire, and many prisoners were s.h.i.+vering from the cold. Many were eyeing Su Ying’s bag covetously, as they knew it was filled with roasted meat.

But when they recalled how Su Ying had killed the tiger, they didn’t dare to go forward.

Su Ying had enough to eat and drink and ensured that Ji and Mama Zhao were fine before lying beside them and sleeping.

That night, there was a thunderstorm, and the rain was hefty.

When the sky was almost bright, Su Ying was jolted awake by thunder. She reached out and touched the foreheads of Ji and Mama Zhao. After making sure their high fevers had subsided, she got up and walked to the cave entrance to check on the situation.

The bailiffs saw that she had no intention of going out and didn’t say anything.

“The sky is so dark, and I don’t know when the rain will stop.”

“I’m afraid the rain won’t stop until we pa.s.s through Zhuzhou.”

“We are at least a hundred miles away from Zhuzhou. If this rain continues, I’m afraid there will be fewer people in the group before we get there.

Su Ying frowned as she listened to the two prisoners.

The body’s original owner was an embroidered pillow who only knew about romance. She didn’t care anything about the outside world, let alone geography, so now she had no idea where they were.

“Uncle, you’re saying the rain won’t stop anytime soon?” Su Ying asked a burly man with heavy sideburns.

The burly man looked at Su Ying and said: “We’ve entered the rainy season in the southwest. It’ll only stop for a little while, if at all. The rain will only stop completely when we reach Zhuzhou in the north.”

Su Ying furrowed her brows even deeper. There were many injuries and illnesses around her, and if they continued to be drenched in the rain, there was no way to recover.
