Chapter 419:1 Never Lie
Translator: Dragon Boat Translation Editor: Dragon Boat Translation
Although Haiyang City was bustling and prosperous, it was not big. In less than two hours, their horse carriage left the city.
Mo Tu sat outside and drove the carriage while Su Ying and Que Que sat inside the carriage.
“Big Sister, where are we going?”
“Where does Que Que want to go?”
“Wherever Big Brother and Big Sister go, Que Que will go.”
Su Ying caressed the little girl’s head. “Sure.”
There were also many horse carriages coming and going outside the city. Most of them were horse carriages carrying goods to Haiyang City to do business.
Su Ying took out the map she had bought from the bookstore and drew a line on it with a charcoal pencil. This line was the shortest distance between the Jin and the Chu States, but even so, she still had to cross more than half of the Jin State before she could cross the state border in the north.
“Do you want to rest at noon?” Mo Tu’s voice rang from outside the horse carriage.
Su Ying didn’t need to rest, but she was afraid that Que Que wouldn’t be able to take it, so she indicated to Mo Tu that they could look for a place to have lunch.
When it was close to noon, Mo Tu found a place to park the carriage and carried Que Que out.
“Let’s rest for a while.” Mo Tu took out the buns he bought in the morning from his bundle and handed them to his two female companions.
Su Ying took the bun and took a bite, but her eyes were constantly keeping a watch on her surroundings.
“Big Sister, my…my stomach is a little uncomfortable.”
Su Ying turned around and saw that Que Que’s tiny face had turned red from holding it in.
“I’ll take you to relieve yourself.”
Que Que nodded and followed Su Ying into the forest behind them.
Su Ying led her to a tree. “Go ahead. I’ll be protecting you nearby.”
“Alright.”
Su Ying casually picked up a piece of candy and was about to eat it when she felt a murderous aura sweeping toward her.
Iler eyes darkened as she pulled out the dagger at her waist and darted toward the source of the aura.
Clang!
The sound of sharp weapons colliding rang out in the air and scared Que Que into screaming out loud. She hurriedly pulled up her pants and ran to Su Ying’s side.
Su Ying s.h.i.+elded the girl behind her and observed her surroundings.
Two green figures descended from the sky and went up to them.
Su Ying looked at them icily. “Who are you?”
The other party replied in a chilly voice, “Red Demon Sect.”
Su Ying frowned. How could the people of the Red Demon Sect locate her so accurately? Weren’t they a little too powerful?
“Just the two of you?”
“If the Red Demon Sect wants you to die at midnight, the King of h.e.l.l won’t dare to let you stay alive until dawn.”
Mo Tu, who had rushed over, had a ferocious expression on his face the moment he saw the Red Demon Sect members.
“Oh? Then, before you die, can I know who paid you guys to take my life?”
The a.s.sa.s.sin gave a scornful sneer. “Don’t you know who you can and cannot offend in Haiyang City? Get ready to die!”
Su Ying’s eyes narrowed slightly. These were hired by the people in Haiyang City, so their employer was different from the previous one. It seemed that the extent of Red Demon Sect’s business was quite wide. It even stretched to the Jin
State.
Su Ying flicked out the electric baton in her hand and started fighting with the two a.s.sa.s.sins.
Initially, the a.s.sa.s.sins thought that Su Ying was just a woman who had a basic foundation in martial arts. To their surprise, she turned out to be so formidable and ruthless.
Su Ying swung the electric baton in her hand and hit the two of them hard. “Argh!”
The two a.s.sa.s.sins were hit by the electric current so hard that their whole bodies trembled. They simply had no strength to fight back.
Su Ying withdrew her electric baton and sent a flying kick to their bodies. The two of them collapsed to the ground like mud.
Before she could make her next move, Mo Tu suddenly appeared and dislocated their chins.
The two a.s.sa.s.sins raised their heads. The moment they saw Mo Tu, their eyes widened in shock. They wanted to say something, but their jaws had been dislocated and they could not say anything.
Su Ying glanced at Mo Tu. When she saw that his whole body was filled with hostility, she thought that he had been angered by the two of them. “Keep them alive. 1 want to know where this Red Demon’s lair is.”
Mo Tu raised his head in surprise. “You have a grudge against the Red Demon Sect? I mean, before today, you two had come into contact?”
Su Ying’s lips curled up, but she wasn’t smiling. “There is a little bit of unsettled feud involved.”
Mo Tu frowned and placed Que Que in Su Ying’s arms. “Bringing these two people along would be too conspicuous. Why don’t we look for a place outside to stay tonight?”
Su Ying nodded.
Mo Tu walked up to the two of them and glared at them with a warning look. Then, he found a tree vine and tied them up before throwing them into the horse carriage.
They were still at least fifty miles away from the next city, and they definitely wouldn’t be able to reach it tonight. Mo Tu continued to drive the carriage forward. When the sky was about to darken, he turned the carriage around and arrived in front of a dilapidated temple.
The horse carriage came to a stop, and Su Ying got out of the carriage with Que Que in her arms. She looked at the dilapidated temple before her and then glanced at Mo Tu.
“We’ll stay here tonight,” said Mo Tu.
“Mm-hmm.”
In order not to scare Que Que, Mo Tu dragged the two a.s.sa.s.sins to the back of the dilapidated temple, while Su Ying led Que Que to sit down in front of the ruined Buddha statue.
Su Ying looked around and saw some broken wood planks, so she picked them up and started a fire.
After the fire was started, Su Ying took out some dry food and used a dagger to slice the steamed bun. She then placed the slices over the fire and roasted them until they were crispy before handing them to Que Que. “Eat something first. Tonight, we’ll sleep in the temple. When we get to the city tomorrow, I’ll take you out to eat something delicious.”
Que Que obediently took the dry food and nodded. “Thank you, Big Sister.”
Mo Tu returned after Su Ying finished roasting the steamed buns. The dark moon hadn’t risen yet, and the surroundings were pitch-black. He approached with the darkness wrapped around him, like a demon lurking in the darkness.
However, after being illuminated by the orange light, he reverted to his usual gentle expression.
“Big Brother, come and eat the dry food.”
Mo Tu smiled as he walked to Que Que’s side and sat down. He took the steamed bun from her hand. “Que Que, you should eat more.”
Su Ying finished her bun and drank a mouthful of water before standing up and walking towards the back of the dilapidated temple.
“Where are you going?” Mo Tu asked as he glanced at her.
“I want to ask them some questions.”
“There’s no need to ask. I have finished them off.”
Su Ying’s expression clouded over and her eyes showed signs of fury. “I said to keep them. There’s still a use for them.”
Mo Tu looked at her angry expression and displayed a somewhat hurt look. “I’ve helped you ask everything you wanted to know. The Red Demon Sect’s lair is in the Jin State’s capital, Duo City. If you want to destroy their lair, you have to go to Duo City.”
Su Ying narrowed her eyes and did not hide her skepticism. “How can I be sure you are telling the truth?”
Mo Tu smiled innocently and flirtatiously. “If I lied to you, you can finish me off.”
Su Ying looked at him intently with her almond-shaped eyes. “Mo Tu, you’d better be telling the truth.”
Mo Tu suddenly leaned close with a woeful expression. “If 1 lied to you, can you really bear to take my life?”
Su Ying glanced at the startled Que Que whose big eyes were full of shock and uneasiness and resisted the urge to lock her hand on Mo Tu’s throat. “1 never lie on my part.”
A dark glint flashed across Mo Tu’s eyes as he smiled and said, “Don’t worry. 1 will never lie to you.”
Su Ying still went to the back of the dilapidated temple to take a look, but she didn’t find the corpses of those two guys. She frowned. It seemed that Mo Tu’s secrets were increasing.
If they wanted to go to Duo City, they would have to change their route. Fortunately, compared to the journey to the Chu State’s border, the journey to Duo City was much shorter.
In the darkness, two figures quickly scrambled out from behind the dilapidated temple. It never occurred to them that Mo Tu not only did not die, but he also came back alive!
“Quick! Send a message back to Sect Master.. Mo Tu has returned alive!”
