45 Leaving the Palace
Su Ying immediately held the chest of gold protectively and looked at the guard warily.
“What’s wrong? Is there anything else?”
The guard saw Su Ying’s wary manner and could only soften his tone. “Miss Su, don’t misunderstand. It’s the Crown Prince. His heart ailment suddenly acted up. His Highness is asking Miss Su to go back and take a look at the Crown Prince.”
Although Su Ying had previously taught Sima Chen how to regulate his breathing, she had not given him a more complete treatment. Could it be that there was a problem with her breathing technique?
Logically speaking, there shouldn’t be.
Su Ying thought for a moment and followed the guard back.
Prince Ma was waiting outside Sima Chen’s room. When he saw Su Ying return, he quickly rushed forward and said, “I had forgotten about this previously because of the Princess Consort’s matter. I should also ask Miss Su to take a look at my son’s old ailment.”
Su Ying carried the chest and walked into the room. “I taught the Crown Prince the breathing technique previously. If he practices according to the instructions, rightfully his heart ailment should not act up again.”
While she spoke, she arrived in front of Sima Chen and carefully put the chest down. Following that, she took Sima Chen’s pulse.
After taking his pulse, Su Ying’s eyebrows furrowed. Why did his heart suddenly become so weak?
Su Ying took out silver needles from her clothes, pulled open Sima Chen’s clothes, and inserted the silver needles.
As the silver needles in her hand pierced him, the amount of cold sweat on Sima Chen’s forehead increased. It was only when all the silver needles had pierced him that Su Ying stood up and observed the changes in Sima Chen’s condition.
“Miss Su, how is Chen’er?”
Su Ying raised her head and said, “His heart rate is a little irregular. Did the Crown Prince receive some kind of shock?”
With the lesson learned from the two maidservants, the servant who served Sima Chen immediately knelt on the ground in fear and said, “Miss Su, the Crown Prince has been feeling a little depressed the whole day. When we asked him, he didn’t say anything. Just when we told him that Miss Su was leaving the palace, he suddenly felt a pain in his heart and fainted.”
Prince Ma was slightly surprised by the servant’s words and subconsciously glanced at Su Ying.
Su Ying quietly moved closer to the chest. Good Lord. So he was upset that he had given her too much gold and fainted from the anger.
Su Ying frowned deeply. If she saved this rascal and roused him from his unconscious state, would he take the opportunity to take back the gold?
Su Ying felt that she had to find an opportunity to put the gold into her interspatial store.
While she was deep in thought, Sima Chen groaned softly and slowly woke up.
“Miss Su…” Sima Chen opened his eyes and saw Su Ying standing in front of the bed. A look of surprise flashed across his eyes as well as a look of… delight.
“Your Highness, you are awake.”
Sima Chen’s face was still a little pale.
“Chen’er, you were fine before. Why did your heart ailment suddenly act up?” Prince Ma asked with concern.
Sima Chen lowered his eyes. No one knew what was going through his mind. “It’s nothing much. Maybe I was worried about Mother’s health these few days and didn’t rest well.”
Prince Ma said worriedly, “Your mother will recover as she slowly recuperates. You don’t have to be so worried. Your health is more important.”
“Mm-hmm.”
“Miss Su, do you have any way to cure Chen’er’s ailment?”
Su Ying thought for a while and wrote a prescription on the desk. “Take this medicine for a month. Coupled with my breathing technique, your ailment will definitely show visible improvement, Your Highness.”
The servant took the prescription from Su Ying.
“Then I’ll have to trouble Miss Su to explain the breathing technique to Chen’er again.” Prince Ma looked at Sima Chen. “Chen’er, you should learn conscientiously from Miss Su. I will go and have a look at your mother.”
“Alright.”
Prince Ma and his attendants left the room, leaving only Su Ying and Sima Chen.
Sima Chen looked at Su Ying in a daze, as if she would disappear if he didn’t look at her.
Su Ying met his gaze. She felt increasingly certain that this rascal must have thought that she had taken too much gold!
“Your Highness, you didn’t continue practicing the breathing technique?”
Sima Chen looked at her and said, “I did, but I suddenly encountered something I couldn’t understand.”
“Please tell me, Your Highness.”
Sima Chen suddenly took off the clothes on his upper body, revealing his fair upper body with well-defined muscles.
His light-colored eyes were locked fixedly on Su Ying as he pointed at his abdomen. “Every time I circulate my breath to my dantian, I don’t feel the heat that I felt when Miss Su taught me that day. I don’t know what went wrong.”
Su Ying saw how serious he was and pondered for a moment before placing her finger on his chest. “Sit down cross-legged and demonstrate once for me.”
Sima Chen nodded slowly, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath. When the breath reached his chest, Su Ying’s fingertips pushed his chest. “Use more strength. Your breath is too shallow, and you’re not breathing enough. If you really can’t do it, then inhale into your chest first and let the air push your entire chest out.”
Sima Chen let out a breath of air weakly. Under Su Ying’s guidance, he seemed to have finally grasped the main point. However, the sky outside had also darkened.
Sima Chen opened his eyes and looked at the darkening sky. “It is already late today. Why don’t you leave tomorrow instead, Miss Su?”
Su Ying only wanted to return to her children as soon as possible. She didn’t want to stay for even one moment.
“It’s not necessary. The city gate to exit the city should still be open.”
Sima Chen pursed his lips. “Are you in such a hurry to leave, Miss Su?”
“Yes. I’m in a big hurry.”
Sima Chen looked at her helplessly. He took out a white jade bangle from under his pillow and handed it to her. “This jade bangle is a thank-you gift from me to you, Miss Su. I hope you will accept it.”
Su Ying looked at the jade bangle. Although she didn’t know much about these things, she could tell that it was valuable. She would keep it and sell it when she reached the next city.
“You are too polite, Your Highness.” As she spoke, she stepped forward and took the jade bangle.
When Sima Chen saw that she accepted it without any hesitation, a wisp of joy swept over his heart. “It’s good that you like it, Miss Su.”
For convenience’s sake, Su Ying wore the jade bangle on her wrist right away.
The smile in Sima Chen’s eyes deepened when he saw that.
Su Ying took out a bottle of medicine from her medicine box and handed it to him. “This is a quick-acting heart-recovery pill. There are a hundred of them in total. Your Highness, when you feel your heart ailment acting up and you are in so much pain that you can’t breathe, take one immediately. Hold the pill under your tongue.” Su Ying would take that bangle as payment for the medicine.
Sima Chen clutched the medicine bottle in his hand tightly and nodded, “Alright. Thank you, Miss Su.”
Su Ying waved her hand nonchalantly and picked up her chest of gold at the same time. She then left with a flourish without hesitation.
This time, she successfully left Prince Ma’s Palace.
Prince Ma’s guard led a horse to Su Ying. “Miss Su, there’s still two hours before the city gates close. You should be able to leave the city in time.”
Su Ying thanked him and tied the chest to the back of the horse. She then mounted the horse nimbly.
“I’m going.”
In reality, Su Ying wasn’t really planning to leave the city tonight. She had obtained so much gold at once, so she would definitely buy a lot of things in the city. Thus, after she left Prince Ma’s Palace, she found an inn near the city gate to stay.
It might not be convenient to use the gold like that, so she thought of taking a portion of it to the bank to exchange for silver.
The waiter brought Su Ying to the guest room and left.
Su Ying took the opportunity to put the gold into her interspatial store. She only took a handful out before leaving the inn.
What Su Ying didn’t notice was that as soon as she left the inn, someone followed her discreetly.
