86 That’s Good Stuff
Su Ying walked up to the old woman and looked at her with an ambiguous expression.
“Where do you live, old granny? I’m very thirsty, so I want to go to your house and ask for a gla.s.s of water.”
The old woman looked at her and gave a peculiar laugh. “I don’t have anything else, but I can still offer a gla.s.s of water. My house is just ahead. Little Miss, come with me.”
“Alright.”
The old woman brought Su Ying to a courtyard. Su Ying told the bandit leader to wait outside while she followed the old woman in.
The old woman’s house was also a wooden building, and it seemed to be very old. When the old woman pushed open the courtyard gate, the ancient wooden gate creaked.
The wooden building was different from Mei Niang’s wooden building. It was three stories high, and at a glance, it was covered in signs of wind and rain erosion and mottled patches.
The yard was overgrown with weeds, and it didn’t look like someone had lived there for a long time.
The old woman led the way and brought Su Ying to the main hall which was shrouded completely in darkness.
“It’s been a long time since someone has come to visit this old woman.”
The old woman wiped the table with her hand and poured a cup of water for Su Ying. “You must be thirsty, Little Miss. Have a cup of water first.”
Su Ying took the cup from the old woman and looked at it. The water in the dark green cup was crystal clear, and there was nothing wrong with it. She turned the cup in her hand and looked at the old woman. “How should I address you, old granny?”
The old woman sat on the chair and said in a somewhat hoa.r.s.e voice, “The people in this area call me Deaf Granny.”
“I don’t think you look deaf, old granny.”
The sagging corners of Deaf Granny’s eyes lifted as she smiled at Su Ying, “I used to be deaf, but I got better after eating some good stuff.”
Su Ying placed the cup on the table and turned around to head up the stairs.
“I just came to the Tiger Base not long ago, and I’m building a house right now. I think that Deaf Granny’s house is not bad. I wonder if you can let me take a look around?”
The drooping corners of Deaf Granny’s eyes turned down. “If you want to look, then go look. However, don’t frighten yourself.”
“I won’t.” Su Ying stood up and went upstairs.
There were three rooms on the second floor, and Su Ying opened the door to the nearest room.
In the room, there were huge jars about the size of half a person. These jars were all sealed with yellow mud.
Deaf Granny had appeared behind Su Ying without her realizing it, and her voice was so close that it was almost right beside Su Ying’s ear. “Little Miss, do you want to see what’s inside?”
Su Ying’s almond-shaped eyes glinted icily. “Of course.”
Deaf Granny walked into the room and stood in front of the jars. She stretched out her withered hand and gently patted the jar’s lid.
The yellow mud on the lid instantly cracked and dropped off.
Deaf Granny slowly turned the lid on the jar. Suddenly, the moment the lid was lifted, countless black bugs flew toward Su Ying.
Su Ying’s eyes widened, and she quickly pressed the b.u.t.ton to activate the shock wave defense mechanism.
Those insects that were das.h.i.+ng towards her were instantly shattered by the shock wave!
Deaf Granny held her breath. When the powerful impact came sweeping toward her, she leaped out of the window nimbly. Her figure and speed did not resemble an old woman at all.
Su Ying’s eyes darkened and in a flash, she went in hot pursuit. Deaf Granny had already jumped into the courtyard and was staring at her with her murky eyes.
“Little Miss, you’re really good at martial arts.”
“Beastly old fart, you’re courting death!”
Su Ying placed one hand on the railing and jumped down from the second floor.
Deaf Granny attacked Su Ying straightaway. Her sharp nails were like the claws of a beast. Rip! In one stroke, the claws tore Su Ying’s sleeve.
Su Ying looked at the three new scratches on her arm, and a chilly killing intent flashed across her almond-shaped eyes.
She took out the electric baton and swung it.
Deaf Granny was struck by the shot from the electric baton and her body instantly became stiff.
However, she wasn’t stupid. She gritted her teeth and rolled on the ground, quickly escaping from the electric baton’s restraint.
Su Ying gave chase relentlessly. Deaf Granny’s figure was like an agile monkey, and her nimbleness easily surpa.s.sed all of Su Ying’s previous opponents.
Even when she was. .h.i.t by the electric baton, Deaf Granny could still escape with the fastest speed.
Su Ying seemed to have lost her patience. She increased the voltage on the electric baton. When the electric baton hit Deaf Granny again, she wouldn’t be able to escape no matter how fast she was.
Su Ying gave one stomp on Deaf Granny’s chest with great force. Deaf Granny felt a sharp pain in her chest. Pfft! She spat out a mouthful of blood before collapsing to the ground.
Su Ying immediately turned off the electric current and hit Deaf Granny’s leg bone with the electric baton.
The sound of bones breaking could be heard, and Deaf Granny screamed in pain.
“Argh!”
Su Ying didn’t give up and stomped on her other leg.
In an instant, both of Deaf Granny’s legs were broken.
She lay on the ground in pain and glared at Su Ying with eyes filled with venom. “Who are you? Why did you come to Tiger Base?”
Su Ying lowered her eyes and looked down at her. “I’m asking you the same question. Don’t tell me you wanted so much human flesh because you wanted to sell it. What was that disgusting thing that jumped out of the jar just now?”
A strange expression appeared on Deaf Granny’s face. “That’s good stuff.”
Su Ying lost her patience and stepped on Deaf Granny’s chest. “I don’t care what you and the mastermind behind you did in the past, but since you’ve been trying to do bad things to my people time and again, I have no choice but to take charge. Even if you’re the biggest cancerous tumor in Tiger Base, I, Su Ying, will still remove you!”
Deaf Granny suddenly laughed in a hoa.r.s.e voice. Her eerie laughter sounded like broken bellows, “Just you alone? Who do you think you are? Do you think you can… Urgh!”
Before Deaf Granny could finish her sentence, Su Ying broke her neck with one foot.
Her two murky eyes were still wide open in disbelief as if she couldn’t believe that Su Ying had taken her life so easily.
Su Ying released her foot and slowly straightened her body. She turned around and walked back to the second floor.
The shock wave just now was too strong, and it had already broken all the jars in the room.
Su Ying squatted down and looked at the dead black insects. She took out a piece of cloth and wrapped a few of them up, planning to take them back to ask if anyone knew them.
Then, she went to the other rooms and found that there were also countless jars in the other rooms.
She didn’t go up to open them but simply used the shock wave to break all the jars.
After dealing with all the jars, she returned to the courtyard and used the hemp rope in the house to loop around Deaf Granny’s neck. She hung her under the roof eaves and left the courtyard without looking back.
The bandit leader had been peeking from outside the gate the entire time. He had watched Su Ying send Deaf Granny to the netherworld. Her martial skills were definitely not something that they could compare to. When he saw Su Ying coming out, he quickly stepped aside obediently.
“Heroine, you have come out.”
“Let’s go,” Su Ying said without turning her head.
“Oh. Yes, yes.”
Su Ying had just left when a figure pushed open the gate to the courtyard. When that person saw Deaf Granny hanging under the roof eaves, a look of shock spread over his face.
