“I thought he and that Xia Ye were together, and I a.s.sumed…” Chen MO muttered, seemingly under the impression that Xia Ye had brought someone to bully Xia Wan.
Xia Wan grabbed Chen Mo’s hand and started walking toward a car parked nearby.
“Don’t worry! With Xia Ye’s brains, she’s far from being able to bully me!”
Chen MO lightly flicked Xia Wan’s nose, as a light punishment for making him worried earlier.
From a distance, Xia Ye saw Xia Wan and Chen MO getting into the car together. She instantly brushed off Jiang Lu’s hand that was holding her back.
She sneered, ‘Why are you playing the hero? Your beauty has already thrown herself into someone else’s arms!”
Xia Ye thought her words would enrage Jiang Lu, but the smile on his face seemed to chill her even more.
‘You. What are you laughing at?” Xia Ye stepped back instinctively.
Jiang Lu’s eyes slightly narrowed, his smile unchanged, “A woman shouldn’t be too clever for her own good, not least of all a woman like you…”
Leaving Xia Ye without a response, Jiang Lu turned and walked towards another alley.
Xia Ye was left wondering, “What does he mean by ‘a woman like me’ and ‘too clever for her own good’?”
Her anger met with no response.
Several pa.s.sersby looked at Xia Ye strangely, and she realized she had become a laughingstock.
Embarra.s.sed, she covered her face with her hand and ran in the opposite direction.
“How’s it going? Did the person come back?” A young man with a buzz cut appeared in the corner, casually tossing a cigarette.
Jiang Lu caught the cigarette and put it in his mouth, taking a lighter from the young man’s pocket.
“Yeah.” He lit the cigarette and responded vaguely.
“Are you sure it’s him?” The buzz-cut young man also lit a cigarette, taking a deep puff before asking again.
Jiang Lu raised an eyebrow, “What do you mean? Do you think I got the wrong person at this stage?”
The young man laughed awkwardly, “No, it’s just that he doesn’t seem that vicious…”

He immediately took off his coat and covered her, “Are you cold? You’re dressed so lightly in this weather…”
Xia Wan pushed his coat away, “I’m a doctor, I know whether I’m sick or not.
“It’s just a sneeze, don’t be so worried!”
Chen MO paused for a moment, then took his coat back, “I guess I’m just too worried. ”
Xia Wan, noticing Chen Mo’s concern, thought for a moment before asking, “Did something happen while you were away?
