“I’m not certain if this is related to the doc.u.ment.”
Though it was just a hunch, Xia Wan was almost convinced that the secretary was behind this!
Ever since Xia Jiang and Song Yan discovered that Xia Ru had been admitted to the mental hospital, they had been too ashamed to show their faces in the village.
It must have been the secretary who found them and caused this situation!
“But they claimed they wanted to find their daughter and son -in-law. This doesn’t seem straightforward,” Xia Wan continued.
“They’ve already visited Xia Ru in the mental hospital. I checked with the hospital, but Xia Ru hasn’t been discharged.”
“In other words, they came here to take my parents!”
Upon hearing this, Officer Song grasped the gravity of the situation.

She had previously requested the police station to keep her commendation discreet. Yet, a significant ceremony was held, albeit internally at the school. It was impossible to ensure such a ceremony would remain secret.
Though the commendation was in the name of a good Samaritan, the true story might have leaked.

Xia Wan glared at Chen Mo. “Jiang Lu! Could he be involved?”
“Who is Jiang Lu?” Officer Song looked puzzled, glancing between Xia Wan and Chen Mo.
“He’s a new transfer student at our school, arriving on the day of the commendation ceremony,” Xia Wan explained. “He informed me that the doc.u.ment had returned.”
“What else does he know?” Officer Song’s concern grew.
After all, despite several arrests, the case remained open, with key masterminds at large.
This was known only within the upper echelons of the police force; the public was led to believe the case was closed, a strategy to lower the masterminds’ guard.
“I don’t know what he knows, but he must know the doc.u.ment’s whereabouts!” Xia Wan, seizing Chen Mo’s arm, exclaimed, “Yes! Let’s find Jiang Lu. He can lead us to the doc.u.ment!”
Xia Wan made to leave, but Chen MO held her back. “Wait!”
“We can’t a.s.sume your parents were taken due to the doc.u.ment. Besides, we don’t know Jiang Lu’s connection to it.”
“I suggest we wait…”
“Wait for what?” Xia Wan implored, her patience waning.
Seeing her distress, Chen MO rea.s.sured her gently, “We still don’t understand why your parents were taken.”
“I doubt it was solely for revenge. Furthermore, if it were for revenge, targeting your parents doesn’t add up…”
