Since Mu Mingtang was pregnant, the winter was spent very peacefully. Xie Xuanchen ran to the palace whenever he had time and saw her belly getting progressively bigger with every pa.s.sing day. He was curious but panicked a lot, “Why is it getting so big? Is this normal?”

One early morning, at the end of the first month of the New Year, Mu Mingtang gave birth to a son. Both mother and son were announced to be safe and only then did Xie Xuanchen feel that his feet were firmly planted on the ground again. He hugged the fragile baby, practically seconds away from having a panic attack. After thinking for a long time, he named the child Xie Changan.

Xie Xuanchen’s given name was ‘Chen’, which meant the Northern star. Xie Yi had named his son after the star in hopes that his son would make great achievements and stand out. In contrast to that, Xie Xuanchen named his son Changan.

Changan(2). As long as his son lived a long life in peace, that was enough for him.
