Chapter 30 Part 1
This is the boy's last day living in that underground chamber.
More than three years of imprisonment finally ended on this day.
However, when the boy opened his eyes and woke up from the dreamland, nothing had changed at all.
The Boss was idling around, putting his feet on the table, and leaning on the the chair. His mouth was still biting on a piece of chicken bone that had turned flavorless since a long while ago as he perused several doc.u.ments that were in his hands.
“Boss, that kid is awake.” The underling who had quickly noticed that the boy had woken up, reported to the boss, and on his own initiative, walking toward the corner of the room where a cloth bag lies.
“If he is awake, just feed him two doses of ecstasy. There is no need to report to me.” The boss said without lifting his head up. Hence, under the boss's instruction, the underling took out two vials of concoction; one red and one black, and nonchalantly broke it on the ground.
The boy had lost count of how much mana he had absorbed. He, himself had no idea how long exactly had he been imprisoned in this place as well. When his counting of the days had surpa.s.sed the double digits, he had lost all hopes, and had given up after that.
“How much has the auction price gone up now?” The underling asked with interest as he went over to the Boss's side.
“Not high enough. Those slave traders are still probing one another. These prices have not even reach ten percent of what I'm expecting.” After he finished his sentence, the boss crushed the doc.u.ments in his hands into a paper ball, and dumped it into the fireplace before saying: “There's no need to rush. It's okay to do this slowly. This is a big project that took me three years. Finally, I can now reap the profit from this. It's fine to wait a few days more.”
The boss smiled, his eyes were turning into a seam from smiling as they stared at the boy in the cage. No, that is merely a tool. It cannot be considered as a human anymore since ages ago.
Bang. Bang.
Right at this moment, clear knocking could be heard from the wooden door of the hidden chamber. The two men were stunned. After looking at each other briefly, the boss motioned the underling to check out the situation.
“Who is it?” The underling petulantly opened the small window located on the door that was used for peeking outside, and asked through the gap.
“Ah~ Bless you~ I heard that this place is selling “white luminous lantern”, so I wanted to have a little chat with you all.” Different from their expectations, a woman's gentle voice came from the other side of the door.
“What's the matter?” The boss directed the underling to ask the woman while he sat inside the chamber.
“What's the matter?” Like a repeater, the underling repeated the question to the woman. However, due to the fact that it was a woman on the other side of the door, the two of them slightly dropped their guard.
“Can you let me in? I want to see the “White Magic Clan” child,” The woman replied. Her relaxed and warm voice made the two men briefly hesitate, but in the end, they agreed.
It is after all, a business. It is likely no one will buy from them, if they don't show their “goods” to the others.
Thus, the underling opened the three iron chains on the door, and released the trap hanging above the entrance. The woman outside the door pushed open the door as well, and walked in with gentle strides.
