Armed escorts were almost certain to succeed . Just when the bandits were about to fall, out of the mountain suddenly rushed two wolves . They bit the armed escorts with their sharp teeth and claws . Everyone was scared .
The bandits were also startled . But before they tried to defend against the wolves, they realized that the wolves bit the armed escorts only, as if they managed to recognize . They avoided the bandits, instead .
The bandits were overjoyed to see this . They gathered their strength, took up weapons and started to fight back . Held back by the wolves, the two escorts were so anxious that they couldn’t help looking at the man in grey who remained seated in the carriage .
Advertis.e.m.e.ntObviously, they expected him to help . But the man remained still as if he were frozen .
In the corner where no one was noticing, a big drop of sweat trickled down his brow .

Covered by the killing intent, he was even too scared to move . He could nearly saw the one in the shadows scaring at him coldly . The killing arrowhead was aiming at his throat . He gulped slowly .
“Chief!” shouted the two escorts who were held up by wolves while the officers were approaching .
Hearing their cry, the quiet man in grey suddenly sprang up and quickly drew the broadsword beside him . He wielded it in front of his chest .
“Clang!!” A cold arrow whizzed past his broadsword . Wham! It p.r.i.c.ked his shoulder and blood spurted . The impact rolled him down the carriage . He looked up abruptly, right at where Jing Yue was standing .
All he could see was a pet.i.te figure in the forest and… her dark green eyes .
Unusual pupils!
The man in grey was frozen at where he stood . He stared at that direction in horror . But when he blinked and looked again, no one was there as if nothing had appeared . Before his fear dissipated, there came rhythmical whistles, echoing in the forest .
“Howl!” Wolves stopped and howled . They quickly knocked away whoever in their way and jumped at the forest . In a few seconds, they were out of sight .
The bandits wouldn’t stay when they found the wolves gone . In a twinkling, they rushed into the thick forest and ran away in all directions . Armed escorts didn’t know which direction they should follow . Besides, they were so badly hurt that they could hardly leave the carriage .
“Chief!” yelled the two armed escorts when they rushed to the man in grey with embarra.s.sment . They were shocked to see him standing up and covering his bleeding shoulder with his hand .
“I’m fine . ” replied the man . He looked over forty years old . At this moment, he still remained shocked . As he looked at where the arrow came from, he had a lingering fear . He frowned and shook his head .
“What was happening?” asked the two armed escorts, looking at the wound on his shoulder .
