_Little Flock._

Church of the ever-living G.o.d, The Father's gracious choice, Amid the voices of this earth How feeble is thy voice!

2 Not many rich or n.o.ble called, Not many great or wise: They whom G.o.d makes his kings and priests Are poor in human eyes.

3 But the chief Shepherd comes at length; Their feeble days are o'er, No more a handful in the earth, A little flock no more.

H. Bonar, _ab._

_Psalm 137._ (914)

I love thy kingdom, Lord!

The house of thine abode, The church our blest Redeemer saved, With his own precious blood.

2 I love thy church, O G.o.d!

Her walls before thee stand, Dear as the apple of thine eye, And graven on thy hand.

3 For her my tears shall fall, For her my prayers ascend; To her my cares and toils be given, Till toils and cares shall end.

4 Beyond my highest joy I prize her heavenly ways, Her sweet communion, solemn vows, Her hymns of love and praise.

5 Sure as thy truth shall last, To Zion shall be given The brightest glories earth can yield, And brighter bliss of heaven.

Timothy Dwight, 1800.

_A Revival Sought._ (912)

Revive thy work, O Lord!

Thy mighty arm make bare; Speak, with the voice that wakes the dead, And make thy people hear.

2 Revive thy work, O Lord!

Disturb this sleep of death; Quicken the smoldering embers now, By thine almighty breath.

3 Revive thy work, O Lord!

Exalt thy precious name; And, by the Holy Ghost, our love For thee and thine inflame.

4 Revive thy work, O Lord!

And give refres.h.i.+ng showers; The glory shall be all thine own, The blessing, Lord! be ours.

Albert Midlane, 1861.

_Christ's Everlasting Kingdom._ (895)

Jesus shall reign where'er the sun Does his successive journeys run; His kingdom spread from sh.o.r.e to sh.o.r.e, Till moons shall wax and wane no more.

2 From north to south the princes meet, To pay their homage at his feet; While western empires own their Lord, And savage tribes attend his word.

3 To him shall endless prayer be made, And endless praises crown his head; His name, like sweet perfume, shall rise, With every morning sacrifice.

4 People and realms of every tongue Dwell on his love with sweetest song, And infant voices shall proclaim Their early blessings on his name.

5 Blessings abound where'er he reigns; The prisoner leaps to lose his chains; The weary find eternal rest, And all the sons of want are blest.

6 Let every creature rise and bring Peculiar honors to our King; Angels descend with songs again, And earth repeat the loud Amen!

Isaac Watts, 1719.

_The Glory of the Church._ (904)

Triumphant Zion! lift thy head From dust, and darkness, and the dead; Though humbled long, awake at length, And gird thee with thy Savior's strength.

2 Put all thy beauteous garments on, And let thy various charms be known; The world thy glories shall confess, Decked in the robes of righteousness.

3 No more shall foes unclean invade, And fill thy hallowed walls with dread; No more shall h.e.l.l's insulting host Their vict'ry and thy sorrows boast.

4 G.o.d, from on high, thy groans will hear; His hand thy ruins shall repair; Nor will thy watchful Monarch cease To guard thee in eternal peace.

Philip Doddridge, 1740.

_Rev. 11: 15._ (1028)

Soon may the last glad song arise Through all the millions of the skies-- That song of triumph which records That all the earth is now the Lord's!

2 Let thrones and powers and kingdoms be Obedient, mighty G.o.d, to thee!

And, over land and stream and main, Wave thou the scepter of thy reign!

3 Oh, let that glorious anthem swell, Let host to host the triumph tell, That not one rebel heart remains, But over all the Savior reigns!

Mrs. Voke, 1816.
