Ch 2.2 – Sheep for Slaughter

After full twenty minutes later, Meng lao yezi finally opened his eyes. Hi gaze swept over Meng Ting's body and his clothing, his expression still hard to read.

"You are Meng Ting?"

Meng Ting looked up, nodded, and bowed his head once again. There was no hesitation, no resentment, and no anxiousness visible on the boy. His calm demeanor caused Meng lao yezi to look over him once again.

Meng lao yezi didn't say anything, he only nodded once and leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes once again. Meng Ting didn't know what to do so he took the nod as a sign of dismissal. In the whole half hour that he had been inside the study, all he had done was stand by the side and nod once.

Uncle Wen led Meng Ting straight to his room without showing him around the large house. His room was located in the west wing of the third floor. Uncle Wen pushed the door open, "This is you room."

Meng Ting looked inside and saw a bright and s.p.a.cious suite. It contained a separate bathroom, a closet, and even a game room. All the places where Meng Ting had lived in his previous life, including that of his grandmother, couldn't even compare a single percent to the apartment before his eyes.

He walked forward lightly touched the bed, an expression of dislike flitted across his face. "Too soft, I want something harder."

Meng Ting ignored most things but he had a strange sort of obsession with the beds in which he slept. He wanted to marry out of the Meng household as soon as possible but he would try to live in comfort for the time that he was still living there.

Uncle Wen simply nodded, "I'll have it changed."

Instead of leaving after he had dropped Meng Ting off, he began to speak. "This here is the old house, the young masters and madams don not live here. They usually visit on weekends, three days later; I will take you to meet them."

"Neither of the two lao furen (lao-old, furen-madam of the house) are present right now but they should be back by evening. If you want, I can arrange a meeting for you."

Meng Ting considered it for a moment before shaking his head. In his previous life he had never wanted too much contact with the Meng family and he was also an introvert by nature. He wasn't too good at communicating so staying by alone was better than poking one of the bees inside this hive.

"When do I begin cla.s.s?"

Uncle Wen paused for a moment before he remembered. "If you want, you can begin tomorrow."

When he saw Meng Ting nod like a good child, Uncle Wen let out a sigh like he was looking at a sheep for slaughter. Meng ting couldn't understand what was going on so he just listened as Uncle Wen gave him a look of pity and continued, "You've only just arrived, don't worry about these things too much. Rest for a few days and you can begin cla.s.ses on Monday."

Meng Ting nodded and Uncle Wen gave a light bow and left.

However, before he could relax a few more people came in shortly afterwards and switched his bed. He didn't even have a chance to sit in his new bed before he was dragged around by stylists and tailors who piled into the room in succession. They fiddled with his slightly curled hair, changed his clothes and truly made him into a vase.

Taking care of the pretty young man, many of the maids and masters were still shocked when they saw the final result.

The skin of the Meng family members wasn't bad but they couldn't compare to the delicate porcelain Meng Ting. His seductive peach blossom eyes shone like pearls whenever he blinked. Although the stylist had slightly worked on his brows, the natural grace still shone through.

He didn't have to speak. Even standing still he looked like the most exquisite of work of art, a beautiful relic that made people feel reluctant to look away.

Meng Ting looked at himself in the mirror. His hair was slightly messy but his clothes however were neat and tidy. As for the rest, Meng Ting really couldn't tell.

As for the stunned silence of the people in the room, Meng Ting didn't notice it. He wasn't very familiar with these people let alone the silence from his cla.s.smates that he had become used to in his three years at the high school.

Snapping out of their daze, the stylists and tailors made their way out while the maids tidied the room up a bit before leaving. Meng Ting finally had some quiet time.

While Meng Ting was being dressed up, one of the two lao furen, Feng Ze Jiao, was meeting with the Yan lao furen in a flower arrangement room. Rather than saying she was an old lady, she had been promoted to her position when the eldest son had been born.

Yan lao furen, He Wan, looked over the information that Feng Ze Jiao had brought her. In her hands were a few photos showing Meng Ting in his high school. The boy looked delicate, but there was a sense of dullness to him. It was perfectly in line with what she wanted of a daughter-in-law, not too ugly and not too smart.

Meng Ting met these two requirements perfectly, good-looking and silly.

"He's a bit young." He Wan muttered. Indeed, Meng Ting was too young for marriage. His eighteenth birthday would only arrive in May.

Seeing the direction that the exchange was taking, Feng Ze Jiao spoke up, "He's just returned to the Meng estate and he hasn't settled yet. It should be fine to move right now."

Meng Ting had only returned back to the main house, his accounts were yet to be settled. Rather than wasting time and effort settling him for a small while, it was better to move him to the other's house. As for the age, well… it would naturally go up on its own with time.

He Wan heard her and nodded softly, "I want newer picture. I'll show it to my son and if he agrees, then this matter is set."

Feng Ze Jiao smiled and sent a message to Uncle Wen, soon her phone ringed with a new photo of Meng Ting.

Meng Ting looked around surprised seeing a camera flash out of nowhere. His charming and delicate expression did not betray his dull nature.

However, to He Wan, this rarely found dullness of Meng Ting's was a rare commodity.

The author has something to say: modern overhead, men’s marriage has been accepted by law.

In addition, our Meng Ting hates this marriage business. He only wants to have a satisfying nap at the Meng manor.

Yan Sui: I can satisfy you.

Meng Ting: ……
