CHAPTER 20: THE BIRTH OF A GENIUS

“Ah …. No … I’m not looking at anything, why did you just laugh?”

“No, no …  I didn’t laugh, … Are you full? Or you still want to eat?”

“I’m still eating, why not?” Zhang Yang said while standing up and running towards the hall to fill the bowl with rice. Seeing Du Xue’s eyes wide open, his face had an unfathomable expression.

“He He, it’s for good health, can’t do anything about it.”

“Don’t you want to try some other dishes?”

“No need for that, you see, I can eat a bowl of rice with this egg tomato soup.” Zhang Yang said as he poured down a huge amount of egg soup in his rice bowl. “ It’s been several days since I haven’t eaten … maybe that’s why  this rice  tastes  delicious.”

“I heard that you are from C City, so why don’t you go to your home to eat?”

“I’m not native to C City, I only moved to C City few years ago. My parents go out to work and I am simply too lazy to stay at home so gave the house for rent to live in school, both economical and convenient.”

“Oh!”

…..

The two were silent again. Zhang Yang was now eating the rice much slower and kept secretly watching the girl, suddenly, this girl who seemed merely beautiful at first was now beginning to look more interesting, more beautiful and pure just like a lotus emerging unstained from the filth.

Zhang Yang could not help but secretly sigh. It’s a pity that his reputation at school was too spoiled, otherwise this actually was a good opportunity to pursue her.

“Do you like literature?” Finally Du Xue finished the bowl of rice and put down the bowl. She couldn’t find any words to talk about.

“Nope, I don’t.” Zhang Yang also put down his bowl, to take a sip of the tea.

“You don’t like it?” Du Xue was surprised for a moment. “I thought that you replied with a lot of insight on the poem.”

“There’s no insight. The theory was an awful mess, in fact, I also like Yue Fei. I was unable to escape at that time so I merely explained what I understood, I feel really sorry for that old man ….”

“He he ..” Our teacher looked so regretful when you left. You know what, he said that your thoughts were extra ordinary.

“Really!”

Zhang Yang lacked interest, but when as she mentioned poetry, he suddenly felt the urge to go to the library to look again for the math book that he hadn’t yet finished reading.

The two were speaking for a minute and kept silent for the next, but, none of them talked about leaving, as if an invisible force was making them stay. Du Xue was just curious about Zhang Yang while Zhang Yang had a kind of heteros.e.xual attraction for Du Xue. Nevertheless the two didn’t seem to find a common topic, although Zhang yang had countless literary knowledge inside his head but he was unable to access them as he was simply not interested in those matter.

“Xue'er!”

“Xue'er!”

When the two were racking their brains to find a topic of conversation, a male voice came from the outside.

“Ah ….  Brother Fei , here!”

Du Xue’s voice lowered, a tall, thin young man pulled open the curtain of the room. The young man’s face appeared pale, just like the student from the Chinese department on whose chair Zhang Yang had been sitting.

“Xue, I’ve been looking for you for a long time and you didn’t even answer the phone.” The young man talked with Du Xue as if Zhang Yang didn’t exist there in general.

“Oh, ……… I forgot my phone at the dormitory, Fei brother, this is Zhang Yang, student of fine arts department.” Du Xue stood up and introduced them.

“h.e.l.lo, Zhang Yang.” Zhang Yang stood up and stretched out his hand.

“Zhang Yang, I know, the peeping prince of school, the man of the hour.”  The young man with an indifferent smile to see Zhang Yang with Du Xue. “I would have accompanied you if you were hungry. You came with this guy to eat, what?  Rice?? “

“Brother Fei …..!” Du Xue was impatient.

“Well, let’s go, you’ve finished eating too, hehe, inviting a girl to eat in a place like this, huh ?“ The young man glanced at Zhang Yang and the messy table in despise .

“Brother Fei, I invited him to dinner!” Du Xue with an angry face, and pinching her clothes with her hand.

“What? Hahahahha ….. You invited him to dinner? Do women invite men to dinner?” The young man laughed.

“Please, Let me .”

All along, Zhang Yang didn’t speak a word, his eyes glittered like frost and snow (idiom), and appeared dead. While they were talking, he carefully took out a few notes from his wallet and put them on the table then stepped out.

“Lu Fei, you are too much … …”

……………….

As Zhang Yang left the restaurant, he could still hear the angry voice of Du Xue. Zhang Yang imagined , Du Xue definitely have a red face with her eyes wide open.

Thinking about Du Xue’s angry look, depressed Zhang Yang couldn’t help but smile. As for Lu Fei, Zhang Yang didn’t mind at all because this wasn’t the first time he was insulted by someone, nor the last. Of course, there’s a huge difference this time. Before, the only people who dared to insult him were the graduate students and the juniors would never try to insult him because the whole school knew that Zhang Yang was a close friend of Liu Biao …

“Lu Fei …”

“Zhang Yang mumbled the name to himself, the name sounded very familiar but at that moment Zhang Yang couldn’t remember where he saw that name.

Bothering!

After leaving the restaurant Zhang Yang ran to the guard room and looked, but did not see uncle w.a.n.g. He was intending to ask uncle w.a.n.g on how to pursue a woman and succeed, and now he felt hopeless. Zhang Yang was in that school for three years but still he couldn’t remember when uncle w.a.n.g joined the duty. It seemed as if he was there 365 days a year, but occasionally, there was yet another unfamiliar old gatekeeper.

The night had already started. Zhang Yang did not want to go back to the dormitory to sleep, therefore he decided to go to the library to read about the fluid mechanics that he was interested in.

At that hour, there were a lot of people in the library, fortunately, the book ‘the principle of computational fluid mechanics’ was still there. Zhang yang took the book and sat in a corner and soon after, he was absorbed into the digital computing world, forgetting all the problems.

Zhang Yang himself did not knew how he was able to absorb all the knowledge of mathematics just like a sponge, that big explosion seemed to let him bear the memories of higher IQ, but strictly speaking, it might as well have developed  Zhang Yang’s thoughts as well as his IQ.

Although he possessed the incomplete memories of abundant knowledge, still Zhang Yang himself had to take the initiative to learn to be able to awaken the use of those knowledge. At present, Zhang Yang is able to utilize the knowledge in only two ways. First, in a dangerous situation, when it give rise to the burst of the latent potential of human body.

Just like in the train, the latent energy exploded once and as well as in the cla.s.sroom of the Chinese department can also be considered as a potential outburst of latent energy.

Then, the second is Zhang Yang taking the initiative to learn, for example, because of a book, or a certain thing, the incomplete memory of knowledge generated a strong interest. Zhang Yang was awakened by active learning and now, mathematics had become his hobby.

All of a sudden!

When Zhang Yang opened a page, a piece of paper slipped down. Zhang Yang picked it up and to one’s surprise there was an unsolved math problem. A kind of instinct led Zhang Yang to take out a ball-pen and to write on the surface ….
