After a while, I find something like an adventurer's guild.
Many voices can be heard from inside.
I am afraid and no one bothers me, but I am determined to step in.
When I get inside I smell good food.
That's because there is a bar in the guild.
Because of lunch, many adventurers are eating food and drinking alcohol.
Between the tables, two waitresss are busy running around with empty plates on a tray.
As I got inside, some of the adventurers glance at me.
Is it rare to be a client, an adventurer, or a newcomer?
The curious gazes pierce me until I head straight to the reception counter.
At the reception, a female guild staff member greets me with a wonderful business smile.
A woman with brown hair in a ponytail. She has a pretty above average face.
“Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild. Do you have a request? Or are you an adventurer?”
“Please can I register as an adventurer.”
“Right, there's a 2,000 noise registration fee.”
I present two silver coins from my pocket.
The currency of this world is one gold coin worth 10,000 noise and one silver coin worth 1000 noise. Noise is like a copper coin. They all use coins engraved with an image of the G.o.ddess. Is this like Mary Alina? The real thing is more beautiful. The rest is like a ten-yen coin.
I couldn't get used to it at first, but now it's fine.
Apparently, banknotes are no good because they don't feel valuable.
The money that my father gave me amounts to 100,000 noise. He said that he would not send extra money.
After that, I can complete quests myself to survive. There is no problem because my dad bought me weapons and armor.
So it seems that I can live with a margin for the time being.
That said, I don't want to waste it because I want to keep it in case of an emergency.
I have to plan and use it carefully.
“Now, drop a drop of blood here, and you'll have an adventurer card, the identification of an adventurer, and you're done.”
The staff member hands me a needle and a white card.
What? You only have to drop a drop of blood on this card? Easy!
Surprised that it is easier than expected, I p.r.i.c.k my finger with the needle and drip blood onto the card.
Then the card glows, and my name and age are gradually engraved while the card changes colour from pure white to copper.
Oh, amazing.
Surely my information is engraved.
When the light emission ends, the staff picks up the card and checks it.
“Um, yes Jed? Barely at the age of twelve.”
I receive the card from the mischievous staff member and check it.
Jed Clifford is clearly marked.
It seems that the house name is tentatively supposed, but I guessed it was left without care.
“Yes, Jed is now an adventurer today. Do you need an adventurer or adventurer card description?”
“Ah, yes. I don't know much since I come from the countryside.”
For me who does not know at all, the female staff member explains with a smile without showing a troubled face.
“Yes, let me explain. Firstly, adventurers have ranks. If you can complete quests and prove your power, and if you can be recognized by the guild, it will be updated and the colour of the adventurer card will change. Starting at bronze, to silver and gold.”
“In other words, is my newly registered bronze at the bottom?”
“Yes, that's right. And don't lose this adventurer card, as it has a special feature for recording moster subjugations.”
“Can you do that?”
“Yes, to be precise, it absorbs the energy that scatters when you defeat a monster. So, when you go outside, always carry it with you. Unrecorded subjugations will not be rewarded.”
This is useful, but it likely causes a lot of trouble.
It's nice to go outside to defeat monsters, but it's likely that you'll forget the card and have to return to town.
“It seems convenient and inconvenient.”
When I say so, the staff laughs and answers, “Yes, that's right.”
“Quests are on this bulletin board. Other information is that one, so be sure to check them out…. Jed, the adventurer's guild welcomes you. The guild expects your future success!”
At the same time, the other staff bow down, and the adventurers who were eating rice welcome me in a loud voice.
This is how my adventurer life begins…!
