Chapter 376: The future of the now-enclosed Sauron Duchy

Erasing a mountain from existence wasn’t too difficult a task, but moving one… while also preventing any future problems that it might cause, was a little more difficult.

And the difficulty of this task increased sharply when performing it on a mountain range rather than a singular mountain.

“I’m glad I made proper preparations. If I were doing it on my own, I’m sure I would be struggling partway through from the loneliness and the fatigue,” Vandalieu said quietly, holding his staff in one hand in Sam’s carriage.

“I believe we waited three days after informing the Adventurers’ Guild and the Sauron Duchy’s army so that sufficient notice could be provided to the adventurers and the soldiers at the fortresses along the border. But your preparations took only around an hour, did they not, Bocchan?” asked Sam.

“It’s just that I was able to make proper preparations in an hour, Sam. And the fact that I’m currently riding your carriage is a part of it,” Vandalieu said.

Vandalieu’s Mana was close to inexhaustible. And due to the effects of his ‘Constant Super Mana Recovery’ Skill, he recovered vast quant.i.ties of Mana even as he spent it.

But it was not truly limitless. Turning a mountain range into Golems while creating durable, thick bedrock across a vast area and even adjusting things for underground water streams was an incredibly difficult task for him to do on his own.

He didn’t even want to imagine how difficult it would have been if he were also simultaneously casting ‘Flight’ on himself and exterminating the monsters fleeing the mountain range and the skies above it to make sure they didn’t get away and cause any harm.

… Vandalieu might have actually been capable of doing this, but he had no intention of taking on such a lonely and harsh task.

Sam laughed heartily. “You honor me, my lord! However, if someone were to see you right now with no knowledge of what is happening, they would be certain to misunderstand.”

Vandalieu was accompanied by a number of women, including Tarea, Kachia, Privel, Gizania, Myuze and Yuuma, and they looked physically drained.

Indeed, if someone were to see them now, they would a.s.sume that amorous affairs had just taken place, or that the women were being made to wait on him. That a.s.sumption would only be strengthened by the fact that they were all wearing clothes that left their shoulders exposed.

The ‘Metamorph’ Mari and Gufadgarn, the Evil G.o.d of Labyrinths, were also waiting behind Vandalieu.

“n.o.body with no knowledge of the situation would be able to see inside Sam-san’s carriage, so you can have us serve you as much as you want. Right, Van?” said Mari.

“Indeed. There is nothing for you to be concerned about, great Vandalieu,” said Gufadgarn.

“Not that I’m actually doing anything indecent,” said Vandalieu.

“You’re right, Van-sama,” Tarea whispered sweetly into his ear as she embraced him. “So please… drink more of me, and let me eat more of you.”

“Tarea… If I suck any more of your blood, you’ll collapse, you know,” Vandalieu said. “And even if you eat parts of me, it takes some time for your stamina and blood to recover.”

Vandalieu really wasn’t doing anything indecent. He had simply been drinking the blood of Tarea and the others to recover his Mana and use his ‘Blood Rule’ Skill, which strengthened his Attribute Values. And in order to allow Tarea and the others to recover more quickly, he was giving them parts of himself to eat.

What he was giving them was an improved version of Blood Potion, which was made from Vandalieu’s blood. He had harvested medicinal herbs and mushrooms that he had grown using ‘Demon World Binding Technique,’ which contained the ‘Plant Binding Technique.’ He had then combined them with concentrated blood of the Demon King created using the Demon King’s bone marrow, then turned this substance into egg-shaped objects using the Demon King’s oviducts. These egg-shaped objects had been temporarily named ‘Blood Eggs.’

They had the appearance of black-red spheres, enveloped in a jelly-like substance – like enormous frog eggs. They had a very concentrated flavor, similar to Blood Potion if it was boiled down, so they were slightly difficult to eat until one got used to them… And they were also highly toxic, with a high likelihood of causing drastic physical changes if consumed by those who hadn’t been guided by Vandalieu.

However, to those who had been guided by him, they were nothing more than a rich source of nutrients and a powerful healing medicine. However, when replenis.h.i.+ng lost blood rather than healing wounds, it still required some time.

Vandalieu himself was also snacking on Blood Eggs and Demon King Familiar parts. This could perhaps be referred to as autophagy, but he was doing this to fulfil the requirements of the ‘Augmented Attribute Values: Cannibalism’ and ‘Self-Regeneration: Cannibalism’ Skills.

“Then drink my blood! I’ve got the most or second-most volume out of everyone here, so I should still have plenty of blood!” said Privel.

“I-if it is volume that we are talking about, I have no less than you! And I am confident in my Vitality as well!” said Gizania.

Privel was a Scylla Origin, with the lower body of an octopus and dragons’ heads at the ends of her tentacles, while Gizania had the lower body of a spider. Both had the upper bodies of women, but if one included their lower bodies, they did indeed have several times the average woman’s body volume. řÅNՕ?Εṡ

“I already took your body volumes into account when I drank your blood the first time, so no. Please remember that having large body volumes means that you need larger volumes of blood as well,” Vandalieu told them.

It seemed that he had already adjusted for this when calculating how much blood to suck from them. Of course, he had actually left significantly more than the minimum blood they needed, in order to avoid any unforeseen complications.

It was out of concern for their well-being that he was pretending that he had already sucked as much blood from them as possible.

“I see. I still feel rather fatigued, so I shall rest a little longer,” said Myuze.

“Yeah, my body still feels a bit heavy, so it can’t be helped,” said Kachia.

Both of them were leaning against Vandalieu on the opposite side from Tarea.

“If you’re that exhausted, should we switch you out for Bellmond and the others?” suggested Mari. “What do you think, Gufadgarn?”

“If it is for the great Vandalieu’s sake, I am ready to open Teleportation Gates at a moment’s notice,” Gufadgarn replied.

“No, no! We’re fine, so you don’t need to go that far!” Myuze and Kachia said simultaneously, suddenly looking livelier as they shook their heads.

They were here for Vandalieu to suck their blood, of course, but if that was all, there were more suitable candidates – Bellmond, who possessed the Unique Skill ‘Offering’; Eleanora, who innately possessed powerful regenerative capabilities; and Darcia, who was Vida’s incarnation. The initial plan had been for them to be in Sam’s carriage right now.

But Tarea had objected to this.

She had said that it would be unfair for only Bellmond and the others to have their blood sucked, and that Vandalieu should suck her and the others’ blood from time to time as well. And she had pointed out that Darcia and the others had other things to do at ground level with Kanako and the rest.

“I suppose you’re right. Well then, take care of Vandalieu for me,” Darcia had said, easily agreeing to Tarea’s request, and that was why Tarea and the others were here now.

“I’m personally happy about it, but don’t you need to be providing leaders.h.i.+p for the Ghouls, Tarea? And don’t you need to give orders to the Scylla, Privel?” Vandalieu asked.

Tarea had originally been one of the Ghoul chieftains, and Privel was the daughter of the Scylla elder. Gizania and Yuuma were also princesses of their respective nations.

“There’s nothing to be worried about, Van-sama,” said Tarea.

It seemed that there were no issues with them being at Vandalieu’s side.

“Almost n.o.body in human society knows about me, after all. And Zadiris-san and Basdia-san serve more than well enough as representatives for the Ghouls,” Tarea explained.

She served important roles, including helping in the creation of Artifacts such as transformation equipment. That made it risky for her existence to be made well-known in human society, so she rarely performed on-stage with Kanako outside the Demon Empire of Vidal.

On the other hand, Zadiris and Basdia were well-known in human society, so Tarea believed that the two of them were sufficient for acting as symbols and leaders of the Ghouls, a race created by Vida.

“The same goes for me,” said Kachia. “I’m not all that important to begin with, and I wanted Van to kiss me.”

“Kachia, I do indeed have to place my lips on you, but it’s blood-sucking, not kissing. Though I can’t deny it completely,” said Vandalieu. “What about you, Privel?”

“No problems for me, either,” Privel replied. “Mother serves as everyone’s leader… and she told me that it’s more important for me to be by your side, Van-kun.”

Privel’s mother Periveil was the current chief of the Scylla from the Sauron Duchy, and she had decided that Privel being here was more important.

a.s.sisting Vandalieu in moving the mountain range was an important role indeed, after all.

“My… my nation isn’t involved in this, so it’s fine for me to be here, isn’t it?” said Yuuma, who was the only daughter of the king of the Kijin nation.

“The same is true for myself,” said Gizania, the princess of Za.n.a.lpadna.

“And for me as well. And some say that a s.h.i.+n.o.bi must not attract attention to themselves. Also, I am not a princess,” said Myuze, who was not a princess but was considered the most capable individual among the Empusa.

“That may be true, but I still won’t suck any more blood from you until your blood is replenished,” Vandalieu said as he put a jointed leg from the remains of a Demon King Familiar into his mouth and bit into it with a crunch.

His mouth was filled with the taste of his own flesh… It wasn’t very delicious.

I don’t understand why everyone wants to eat parts of me. They have beneficial effects in the form of Potions and ointments, but these are just broken remains, thought Vandalieu. Of course, I suppose I only feel that way because they’re a part of myself.

There were no stories of Vampires drinking their own blood to get by, so Vandalieu suspected that this was probably similar to that.

“By the way, Van, do you not need to make any more Demon King Familiars?” asked Mari.

“I think there are enough for now,” replied a Demon King Familiar rather than Vandalieu himself.

Like all Demon King Familiars, it was a split ent.i.ty of Vandalieu… and it had not even a single joined leg. It consisted of only an enormous brain.

This was a brain-type Demon King Familiar that Vandalieu had created to a.s.sist him in controlling his magic. And inside this enormous brain were the necessary organs to keep it alive, as well as a treasure orb to generate Mana.

Ordinarily, a brain with a height of over two meters would collapse under its own weight, even if it was a monster. But because it was a brain of the Demon King, it was far firmer and more durable than the tofu-like consistency one might expect it to have.

However, if it weren’t for the fact that it was aboard Sam’s carriage, which provided extremely stable and smooth transport, Vandalieu would have needed to spend extra Mana to create a hard sh.e.l.l around it.

Vandalieu had increased his own processing power by connecting this brain-type Demon King Familiar to his main body. He was like a supercomputer, attaching an extra brain rather than extra processors.

And he had created other Demon King Familiars. There were dozens of vision-a.s.sistance-type Demon King Familiars, consisting of only a meter-wide eyeball and wings, flying around Sam.

He had created them to make sure that no monsters were escaping, that no part of the mountain range was collapsing, that there was no part that was sinking or becoming abnormally elevated.

There were a countless number of them, from the former Scylla territory to the mountain range’s final destination, as well as the skies above the row of rocky mountains that met the Boundary mountain range, cutting off the northern Bahn Gaia continent from the ocean.

“Papa, can I eat these?” Bakunawa asked, pointing at some other Demon King Familiars.

Vandalieu had also created Demon King Familiars to serve as snacks for Bakunawa. These were essential to the operation, as they prevented Bakunawa from eating the Demon King Familiars that were actively being used.

Incidentally, Bakunawa preferred Demon King Familiars with large eyeb.a.l.l.s and brains. He claimed that he liked how the eyeb.a.l.l.s burst in his mouth, and how the brains had a melty, creamy texture on his tongue.

“You can eat the ones that are for snacking,” one of the Demon King Familiars said.

“Don’t eat that one, eat me instead,” said another, volunteering itself for consumption.

“But I would appreciate it if you ate the monsters as well,” added a third.

“Yeah, but the monsters here aren’t that strong, so they’re kind of tasteless and mushy,” Bakunawa complained.

It seemed that unlike the monsters on the Dark Continent and the Demon King’s Continent, Bakunawa didn’t much care for the monsters of the Boundary Mountain Range. Even on the Dark Continent, there were monsters that were low in Rank… though with that said, even the average adventurer would only barely be able to defeat them. The fact that Bakunawa still enjoyed eating them but not the monsters here likely had something to do with the concentration of the miasma that contaminated the Devil’s Nests that they lived in.

While Bakunawa wasn’t eating the monsters, Pete was doing his best to devour as many as possible. There weren’t many high-Rank monsters to begin with, so Pete and his ‘Elder Dragon Devourer’ Skill were more than enough to deal with even the more powerful ones.

So why was Bakunawa here? The answer was that he had said, “I want to help Onee-chan.”

Children liked to help their parents and older siblings. Believing that Bakunawa was growing up fast, Vandalieu had no hesitation in having him help… though he had, for a brief moment, worried slightly about the effects the sight of Bakunawa would have on the minds of the soldiers in the fortresses along the Sauron Duchy’s border. But he had decided that it would be fine, as they would only see Bakunawa from a distance.

Other major reasons Vandalieu had made this decision was included the fact that although Bakunawa had not been seen by humans yet, he had already been seen by the G.o.ds of Alda’s forces during the battle to liberate Botin; and the fact that Bakunawa was more than powerful enough to defend himself.

Aradia, whose existence was unknown to Alda’s forces and was still unable to fight, was at home with her mother Deeana.

And even while Bakunawa’s hunger was directed at the Demon King Familiars instead of the monsters, Pete hissed ferociously as he devoured Bakunawa’s share as well.

After his latest Rank increase, Pete was now a Divine Steel Roaring Lightning Centipede Dark Beast King with an enormous body that was well over a hundred meters in length, radiating a divine aura… or rather, a sinister one.

Everyone other than Pete himself was surprised when he became a Divine Steel Roaring Lightning Centipede Dark Beast King. Beast-kings were demiG.o.ds, and the term generally referred to the kings of beasts fathered by the Beast G.o.d Ganpaplio. Luciliano, Gufadgarn, and even Peria, the G.o.ddess of Water and Knowledge, had all been unaware that it was even possible for a monster to increase its Rank to become a Beast-king.

One possibility was that Pete had simply gained a race whose t.i.tle contained the words ‘Beast-king,’ and he had not actually become a Beast-king – however, it seemed the ‘Strengthen Followers’ Skill he had acquired affected even regular centipedes that were not monsters, so it was presumed that he had truly become the Centipede Beast-king.

When Lafaz, the Bird Beast-king, was questioned whether it was possible for a monster to become a Beast-king, he had been completely shocked. It seemed that he had never even thought about the possibility, let alone heard of such a thing happening.

According to Lafaz, it was possible for a new Beast-king to be born. But that could only happen if the previous Beast-king were to die and was succeeded by one of their children.

That was why he had never even imagined that a Beast-king could be born from a species of bug that never even had a Beast-king in the first place, let alone from a monster. However, it was possible that there were monsters somewhere in the world that had become Beast-kings, Colossi, or Elder Dragons, and he had simply been unaware of them because he had been in the Demon Continent the whole time.

That was what Lafaz had said as he stared at Vandalieu… A Dhampir who had attained G.o.dhood as a mortal, absorbed the fragments of the Demon King, and had even stolen them from Guduranis. Perhaps he had thought that if that could happen, then it might be possible for a monster to become a Beast-king, too.

“What’s the matter, Van-sama?” asked Tarea.

“I was just thinking that there might be others among my companions who become Beast-kings or Elder Dragons in the future, similar to what Pete did. Though I still don’t know what can cause a monster to become a Beast-king,” Vandalieu replied.

n.o.body denied the possibility that he was suggesting.

“Great Vandalieu, you have walked our world after being reincarnated here from another, and you have accomplished divine deeds. I believe it is only natural for those who serve you to follow in your footsteps,” said Gufadgarn, actually agreeing with Vandalieu for reasons that he didn’t really understand.

“Maybe Pete has become something similar to a Beast-king, like a Dark Beast-king or something, rather than an actual Beast-king. People who drink Vandalieu’s blood repeatedly transform into Dark Humans, after all,” said Kachia.

“… That is certainly possible,” Vandalieu said as he stared into s.p.a.ce, unable to think of any counter-argument.

“Will Tadano become a rodent Beast-king?” wondered Yuuma.

“I think Maroru and her sisters would get there first,” said Privel. “Personally, I’m cheering for Tama and Gyoku, since they have tentacles like me.”

“It seems like Yamata and Rapiéçage will become something impressive as well,” said Myuze.

Suddenly, Bone Man – or rather, just his skull – flew into the carriage. “My lord!”

“Hmm? What’s the matter? Is there trouble on the ground surface?” asked one of the Demon King Familiars.

“Jyuuh! There are less monsters coming out of the mountain range than expected, so things are proceeding smoothly… though the soldiers and residents of the fortresses and stronghold cities along the border are running about and displaying strange behavior. Darcia-sama and the others are flying about, trying to calm them down,” Bone Man reported.

It seemed that things had become slightly troublesome at ground level, not only due to the monsters coming out of the mountain range, but due to the people who had witnessed the mountain range’s movement and seen Bakunawa and Pete in the sky above them.

“Bone Man, what do you mean by ‘strange behavior?’” Vandalieu asked.

“My Lord! It seems that they are begging the G.o.ds for mercy!” Bone Man replied.

It seemed that the people were under the impression that the world was coming to an end.

This might be bad. Should I stop the task for now? Vandalieu wondered.

But it seemed that the people had already recovered from their panic.

“It seems that Vida, Botin, and Peria have sent Divine Messages, so there are cities and fortresses where the chaos died down before Darcia-sama and the others got there, so I believe the trouble is already resolved,” Bone Man said.

Interpreting complicated messages accurately required exceptional, talented clergymen who were few in number, but a simple message of ‘calm down’ was not so difficult to interpret.

Those clergymen would just need to use the people’s respect that they had earned in order to convince the people to calm down.

“I feel bad about it, but I suppose I just have to hope that they’ll forgive me, since I’m making sure that they don’t have to suffer from the war with the Holy Nation of Amid anymore?” Vandalieu said.

“Why do you sound so uncertain? Isn’t it obviously better for them if there’s no war?” said Kachia.

“Kachia, if there’s no more war, there will be a reduction in arms… a reduction in the army’s budget, which can’t be said to be a positive thing for the fortresses and stronghold cities along the border,” Vandalieu explained.

It was precisely because there was a shared border with an enemy nation that there were multiple fortresses along the border, with the families of the soldiers working at the fortresses living in them as well, and stronghold cities were built and maintained as transit points for the supplies that the fortresses needed.

If this enemy nation became blocked off by a tall mountain range, all of these people would become little more than tax thieves.

“Though I think they will remain for a while as bases for adventurers who cull the monsters to prevent monster stampedes from the mountain range’s Devil’s Nests, and as a line of defense in the case that a monster stampede does happen,” Vandalieu said.

“Come to think of it, this place has always received support from the other duchies because of the fact that it’s the first line of defense against the Amid Empire. Won’t that support go away?” asked Privel, pointing out a possible dark future for the Sauron Duchy.

“Privel, that support can be replaced by the profits from trade with our nation. If not, I’ll give them pocket money if I have to,” Vandalieu said.

“… At that point, why don’t we just annex the duchy?” Privel questioned.

As long as the Sauron Duchy was ruled by Elizabeth, who had been haunted by a powerful backer in the form of Vandalieu, its future would be made bright by force if needed… Indeed, Elizabeth had not gained a backer. She had been haunted by one.

Because she had been haunted by this backer, she could not make him stop backing her, either.

“A change of topic, My Lord, but I have two things to report,” said Bone Man. “The first is that my Rank has increased, and I am now a Rank 15 Dark Emperor G.o.d’s Skeleton Knight!”

This news supported the speculation that Vandalieu had made just a few minutes earlier.

‘Dark Emperor G.o.d’s Skeleton Knight’ was quite a different race t.i.tle than the ones that Bone Man previously had. Although he was not the same as a demiG.o.d, it was difficult to imagine that he was completely different, either.

“Judging from the race name, I’m sure it means that you are a knight who serves a Dark Emperor G.o.d, and that Dark Emperor G.o.d is………………probably, definitely me, I suppose,” Vandalieu said reluctantly.

If possible, he didn’t want to admit that the ‘Dark Emperor G.o.d’ in Bone Man’s race t.i.tle referred to himself. But he had foreseen that if he had dared ask, “I wonder who this ‘Dark Emperor G.o.d’ is?” Bone Man would have immediately erupted into tears and shouted, “Jyuooooh! My Lord, do you truly believe that I could serve anyone other than you?!”

Thus, Vandalieu had decided to reluctantly accept this fact.

“Oh, thank you, My Lord! I was so, so worried! I wouldn’t have known what to do with myself if you had suggested that the Dark Emperor G.o.d is not you!” Bone Man exclaimed in relief.

It seemed that Vandalieu’s prediction had been correct.

“To think that you would accept it of your own will, Van-sama… You have grown, haven’t you. Your appearance doesn’t change much, so I was under the impression that you were the same as you always have been,” said Tarea.

“Tarea, the fact that I’m not growing any taller isn’t a problem when you take my race into account. I’m planning to take a century or two to become more than two meters tall,” said Vandalieu.

This figure of ‘more than two meters tall’ was just the ideal height that he wanted to reach; it wasn’t a number that was actually based on anything.

“So, what was the other thing you wanted to report?” Vandalieu asked.

“Jyuuh! Everyone in the fortresses, stronghold cities, and villages along the border are wors.h.i.+ping you as a G.o.d, My Lord,” said Bone Man.

“Huh? Why?”

Vandalieu truly had no idea why the people would do such a thing.

“Well… It is only natural, isn’t it,” said Tarea.

“In fact, it would be strange if they didn’t…” said Privel.

“I thought that surely Van would notice this time, but I suppose not,” said Kachia.

“I had a.s.sumed that he had been prepared for this from the beginning,” said Gizania.

It seemed that everyone else had already predicted that this would happen.

“Tarea, everyone, did you all predict the future?” Vandalieu asked.

“No, that is not it,” said Myuze. “I suggest that you perhaps reflect upon what you are doing right now.”

“What I’m doing right now? Myuze, I’m only changing the shape of the mountain range to block off the Mirg s.h.i.+eld-nation from the Sauron Duchy,” said Vandalieu.

“I think that’s the main reason,” said Mari gently.

Vandalieu looked around him, but no matter how many times he rotated his head around on his neck, there was not a single person who disagreed with Mari.

To Vandalieu, moving the mountain range was a significant task, but one that was still possible if he mustered all of his Mana – nothing more, and nothing less. In the past, he had once crossed the mountain range with the Ghouls including Tarea, Kachia, and Zadiris. Back then, he had altered the shapes of the cliffs to make it easier to do so. And when entering the Hartner Duchy, he had repaired the collapsed tunnel beneath the Boundary Mountain Range.

He considered his task of moving the mountain range to be nothing more than an extension of that.

He was doing so with everyone’s help, and he did think it was quite an incredible thing. But he truly hadn’t believed that it was such a great task that the people would skip the stage of respecting him and go straight to wors.h.i.+ping him as a G.o.d.

At this rate, I’ll become wors.h.i.+ped as the G.o.d who moved the mountain range, not only along the border but throughout the whole Sauron Duchy. Help me, Borgadon, Vandalieu silently pleaded to Borgadon, the G.o.d of Mountains, who was wors.h.i.+ped in the duchy adjacent to the Sauron Duchy.

But for some reason, an image of Borgadon shaking his head vehemently flashed in his mind, saying, “Huh? No way, it’d be impossible to make up a story that makes sense at this point.” So with no choice, Vandalieu gave up.

In the emergency council taking place inside Vandalieu’s head, there was one suggestion to give credit for the feat to Bakunawa, who had been seen by a large number of people. But if some kind of problem were to occur, Bakunawa would bear the blame. And it would be a despicable act for Vandalieu to use his own young son as a scapegoat, so this was out of the question.

The final decision was… to spread credit for the task among everyone and hope that some of the people’s wors.h.i.+p would be directed at the others rather than only at him.

“I’ll name the new portion of the mountain range the ‘Ark Mountain Range,’” Vandalieu said. “And I’ll build Churches for Ricklent, Zuruwarn, and Botin. Let’s create natural water springs or hot springs and then ask Elizabeth-sama to implement a policy to build a hot spring town named ‘Solder’ around the Church of Peria.”

And so began the plan to revitalize the Sauron Duchy’s economy.

“Come to think of it, Van, I wanted to talk to you about something,” said Mari. “Is it alright if I split my blood and whatever else is needed to create a sister for myself? I’m being asked to help make a body.”

“If it’s someone you think you can trust, Mari, then it’s fine… Wait, you can do something like that?” asked Vandalieu.

“I don’t know, so I thought, well, maybe I’d give it a try. It’s alright, it’s someone who is very trustworthy,” Mari said.

Meanwhile, on the Mirg s.h.i.+eld-nation side of the border, there was an even greater panic occurring than on the Sauron Duchy’s side.

There were no G.o.ds with prior knowledge of the situation, and the clergymen had no idea whether they were supposed to tell the people to flee or to calm down. The people trembled in fear at the sight of mountains that groaned as they moved, and the enormous Elder Dragon and centipede flying in the sky above them.

And the prided st.u.r.dy fortresses of the Mirg s.h.i.+eld-nation were struggling to deal with the monsters that had flown out of the part of the Boundary Mountain Range that had become the Ark Mountain Range.

These monsters would be considered few in number to a force of fully prepared, powerful Ghouls, Scylla, Demons, and Undead. But their number was certainly not small to the Mirg s.h.i.+eld-nation’s army, which had been caught by surprise.

As for the G.o.ds of Alda’s forces, they had sent Divine Messages to the clergymen of the Mirg s.h.i.+eld-nation saying, ‘This is a part of the Demon King’s power,’ and then decided to simply observe how the situation developed.

Perhaps this was not true for the people of the Holy Nation of Amid, but to the G.o.ds of Alda’s forces, the enemy that ought to be defeated was not the Orbaume Kingdom, but Vandalieu and the Demon Empire of Vidal that he ruled.

It was troublesome that the way to the Sauron Duchy had been closed off by the mountain range. But it was not something that required them to immediately prevent, gathering all their forces with the willingness to suffer great losses in order to do so.

With that being the case, Alda and his subordinates had believed that it would be best to use this incident to tell the Holy Nation of Amid who their true enemy was.

As a result, the fear and dread of the people who lived under the rule of the Holy Nation of Amid would be directed at Vandalieu, but Alda believed that this would be worth it as long as it allowed the Holy Nation of Amid to become united.

To Alda and his subordinates, Vandalieu was a reincarnated individual who had come from another world and absorbed the Demon King into his own body; although there were people in the Demon Empire of Vidal and the Orbaume Kingdom who wors.h.i.+ped him as a G.o.d, they did not consider him to truly be a G.o.d.
