SERIOUSLY SERIOUS
Today we don’t take any request.
It isn’t because Firia is unwilling to work or anything, it’s because I think taking a break from work is also important.
If we keep taking on request, I won’t have enough time to train my body after all. To obtain a body that can withstand anything, we have to train it regularly.
Thus, I use this holiday to train my body.
“Yuri-san, do you not know what holiday means? It means day to rest you know? Day to rest.”
Wearing her usual pink cuffed white dress, Firia asks me such.
Seems like she takes a liking to that dress. I’m kinda curious about it since I’m the one who chose that dress, but since ever since we met back then she always wear same dress, I just can’t tell.
“It isn’t like I’m intending to over-train my body to the point I don’t have time to rest, you know? Also, I won’t be able to sleep at night if I don’t move my body at day.”
“You just had life and death battle yesterday, didn’t you? If it were me, I wouldn’t be able to move even a single of my finger after that.”
“You sure are weak, Firia.”
“It’s you that’s too though, Yuri-san. I’m sure your body wasn’t produced in normal way.”
Firia says so while looking at me, who is doing push-up with one of my pinky finger, with astounded eyes.
However, I still am not satisfied with such training.
“This is just too light…. Firia, get on my back.”
“Huh, well, I don’t mind, but… I’m pretty heavy, you know?”
Firia says so, even while seemingly hesitant.
She’s heavy, huh. Exactly what I want.
“That’s even better. It’ll be good for my training, after all.”
“No consideration as usual, aren’t you?”
Firia shakes her head with a seemingly resigned expression, and then gets on my back after
saying “I’m getting on.”
I can feel the warmth of human body on my back.
I continue doing push up with my pinky finger while Firia on my back.
However, I tilt my head as I immediately feel a sense of discomfort.
“Firia, aren’t you a bit too light?”
“Eh, is that so?”
Somehow there’s a trace of happiness in her voice.
“That’s right, with only this much of weight, it won’t become a good material for my training. How about gaining some fat a bit?”
“Absolutely no!”
Somehow she’s angry. As I though, I don’t understand elves at all.
“It isn’t about understanding elves or the like! Geez… don’t you know what consideration is, Yuri-san?”
“I don’t want to hear that from someone who likes to peek at others’ mind.”
“I don’t peek at others’ mind, you know? I peek only specially at yours, Yuri-san. Does that make you happy?”
I can’t see her face, but I’m sure she’s saying that only to tease me. So I don’t give her any response.
“Well, usually people don’t want to interact with me since I have this ability, though. Because of that I lived by myself back in the village. If the target reject it, I won’t be able to peek at their mind, though.”
Firia begins pretending to cry while saying “I, am a lonely child.”
Her crying act is very unnatural as usual, but her voice is pretty down, so perhaps she being avoided by other is true.
“Well, out of ordinary people tend to get secluded from society, after all. I’m also the same, perhaps because I was always focused solely on training my body, I was always alone. I don’t have even a single friend, not to mention girlfriend.”
Hearing my words, Firia stops her crying act.
“Yuri-san, could it be you’re trying to console me?”
“Nope, just talking to myself.”
“We, are similar, aren’t we?”
Firia happily says so.
“Perhaps
so.
“Perhaps you’re right. Well, as far as I’m concerned, I haven’t been lonely even once, though.”
Saying so, I stop doing push up, and drop Firia from my back.
“Why? Normally that’d be lonely, right?”
“I have these muscles, after all.”
I look at my well-trained body, marvelous as always.
When light s.h.i.+nes upon my slightly sweaty body, it emits dazzling sparks and glitters. I’m unintentionally fascinated by my own body.
“Are you sick?”
“The vitality of my body is my pride.”
“Not your body, but your head.”
“That’s also impossible. I’m an intellect, after all.”
“I see, it’s already too late, huh. I take my word back about us being similar.”
The day eventually ends while we are chatting as such.
Since Firia is asleep, I continue my training by standing on one of my tiptoe and doing air-chair.
It may sounds plain, but such plain training is what it takes to make powerful and marvelous muscles.
I spend the night as such while imagining about fighting against powerful opponents.
“Fuaa, oh, Yuri-san, good morning.”
“Morning.”
After Firia woke up, we went to the guild.
Taking the usual medicinal plants collection request as usual, we immediately headed to the usual forest.
After finis.h.i.+ng the request without any event, we return to the guild to report.
“Yes, I’ve certainly confirmed that the amount is exactly as requested.”
Receiving the reward, we intend to leave the guild.
“Hey there!”
But halted by voice of a man.
When I turn to its source, I can see a frail-looking man.
“What is it?”
“I have no business with you! It’s the elf-san beside you.”
“Do you need something?”
“Would you join our party? We’re seriously serious party and becoming S ranks is our goal. You’re an elf, so I hope you’d join our party.”
“Huh?”
Slightly glancing to the man’s face, Firia gives an astounded answer.
As far as I’m concerned, I don’t want to part with Firia who can use healing magic, though.
I’ve also grown
also grown accustomed to talk with her, so I’m not too reluctant to be with her.
“Rather than sticking with such muscle-daruma, your future will be brighter with us. Please join our party. If you do, our seriously serious party will surely become S rank in the future.”
“…can your party blow up a Brokkina in an instant?”
The man makes an exaggerated surprised expression.
“Oioi, such a feat is obviously impossible. It’s a B rank magical beast, you know? Moreover we also haven’t ever fought it… but perhaps it’s not impossible for us to subjugate it in thirty minutes. Well, if you join us, our seriously serious party would surely be able to subjugate it in an instant, though.”
“Then I’ll have to refuse your offer.”
Saying so, Firia moves to leave the guild.
“O, oioi, please wait a bit, why do you suddenly refuse our offer?”
The man fl.u.s.teredly calls out to her.
Firia looks back at the man, and with a smile says…
“My companion, Yuri-san here, can instant kill a brokkina, you know? My future is seemingly brighter if I’m together with him, so I won’t join your party. That’s it, well then, bye.”
After saying so, this time she grabs my hand, and then leaves the guild. Her walking pace is lightly faster than usual.
“As if an E rank capable of such a feat. Don’t spout such a blatant lie!”
I can hear the man’s yell from my back.
“Sorry for the trouble I caused.”
When we’re about arrived at the inn, Firia suddenly says so.
“That’s not particularly your fault, wasn’t it?”
“That may be true, but….”
“Well, I do get it, though. Despite you usually saying this and that, the reason you choose me is because you’ve fallen for my muscle, right?”
“No, not in the slightest.”
“Stop lying.”
“I honestly mean it from the bottom of my heart.”
While exchanging jokes as such, I can see I can see smile on her face.
Upon arriving at our room, as if flying, I immediately throw myself onto the chair.
“Haaa…”
“…what’s the matter?”
“I’m just wondering why no one understand the magnificent of these muscles of mine.”
No matter what people say, muscle is muscle, a very precious thing. And I also have no intention to discard such a thought.
However, almost all of the people I’ve met thus far see muscles as an unnecessary things.
“You only need the bare minimum of muscle, the rest is just a waste.” As if such a thought is a common sense.
That makes me kind of sad. Very sad d.a.m.n it.
“That’s… because we have magic, after all. Even without training our muscle, we can reach a certain degree of muscle strength by enhancing it with magic, I’m sure the majority of people have such a thought, as well. But I’ve also heard that it’s quite common for swordsman who possess low magical energy to train their body instead. With that, seems like they can compensate their low enhancing ability. But well, I do think there will absolutely no one who train their body such as yourself, though, Yuri-san.”
“Swordsman, huh. I see.”
Now that I think about it, that swordsman called s.h.i.+nigami also had quite a trained body, huh.
His body was abnormally thin, but his muscle quality was clearly more superior than the adventurers around.
Is there other swordsman around that level, I wonder? Perhaps there is. I’ll put my hope up for the time being.
“But, seems like adventurers other than magician are usually being looked down upon. We can do slas.h.i.+ng attack even with magic, after all. But, well, although rarely, I think there should be more people as powerful as that s.h.i.+nigami.”
“…I see.”
Thinking about adventurers who aren’t magicians, I kind of pity them.
Now in the middle of magician age, the other adventurers are very unfortunate.
