Chapter 44: Becoming the Zombie G.o.d?!
Time flies, half a year pa.s.ses.
The sun was beginning to set, yet the temperature still remained a blistering hot.
In the gloomy forest, chirps echoed past the trees by the unknown. Only occasionally would beasts let out domineering roars.
Both of Zhang Yang's eyes s.h.i.+mmered with red, his glare shot to a boar that he predated on.
The wild boar looked strong with its tough hide. His two tusks raised up with a dagger-like stare shooting back at Zhang Yang. It grunted in an annoyed fas.h.i.+on to ward off Zhang Yang.
Even so, Zhang Yang refused to move an inch. The sensitive boar took this as an offense so he charged at Zhang Yang. But Zhang Yang was stubborn, like a mountain, he stood and strained his muscles that bulged out along with pulsing veins. He had no intention of avoiding this charge, letting out his full strength, he prepared for the boar.
The boar became thoroughly enraged, but when Zhang Yang bursted out with his strength, the presence caused the boar to cower in fear. But with his hundred kilogram weight, it still charged at Zhang Yang. Like the boar, Zhang Yang also lunged himself forward to meet the boar.
With an explosive eruption, Zhang Yang smacked the boar down plunging.
Zhang Yang bites a chunk off the boar, ending its life in seconds of encounter.
He swallows the blood, converting the liquid into a warm Qi wave that rippled through his body.
While running his cultivation method, his cells committed to greed, endlessly swallowing up the blood and increasing Zhang Yang's absorption rate.
His absorption rate is prestigious among those his level, n.o.body could rival him. Along with this, he places the boar back down and wipes his mouth.
It's been 6 months since Zhang Yang migrated to the tomb. During the day, he either slept, practiced talisman drawing, or studied the 'Tai Yin Refining Figures'.
Typically at night, he goes out to absorb the Lunar Essence and eat dinner.
Because of Zhang Yang's previous talent, his level has already recovered to that of a Level 6 Walking Zombie. His spiritual sense reached the 300 meter milestone and his cells were capable of actually containing spiritual power. He won't be meeting with a bottleneck whilst cultivating to the next level, meaning that his cultivation speed has increased.
His power finally reached the criteria of satisfaction.
Suddenly with his keen senses, he hears voices. He spreads out his spiritual sense and finds a group of four or five human hunters hiking 200 meters away at night.
Although this fight was easy and fast, the roars of the boar might've attracted the attention of these humans.
Zhang Yang gives a half-smile and tears the head of the boar off the body. He gripped it tightly and hid behind a tree, his body merging with the never ending trees at night.
"The boar must be close, that cry was around here."
"We need to split up, it'll be much more efficient than walking aimlessly with a whole group, two groups of scouts can finish the job much faster."
"It's over here!" One man shouts as another suggested this split, everyone started bolting over to the voice.
"What! There's only half a boar left with its blood drained…" All of them went into realization and became silent.
One veteran hunter broke the silence with a shout.
"Quickly kneel! Kneel down as this is a gift from the Zombie G.o.d! Much thanks for the Zombie G.o.d!"
"How could we have wasted any time? The Zombie G.o.d. Yes. Thank you mighty Zombie G.o.d! "
"Zombie G.o.d! Thanks for the gift!"
"Thank you so much, Zombie G.o.d!'
All of them knelt down on their knees and yelled out with sincere grat.i.tude.
After giving thanks and hailing their Zombie G.o.d, they stood straight with happy faces.
"Look at the size of this boar! It must be a few hundred pounds. We're so lucky to have the Zombie G.o.d.'
"Thanks to the Zombie G.o.d, our village will sustain against starvation for some few days."
They were all grinning with gleaming smiles that left no disrespect against their Zombie G.o.d.
Zhang Yang watches this scene and becomes slightly happy too. 10-15 kilometers away from the tomb, there is a village that houses tens of families.
Zhang Yang once snuck into the village and found that there were only normal people living there, complete mortals. They lived far from the city and their resources were very limited, all the men needed to hunt at night to keep their families alive. It was hard work and the food they caught didn't last enough for everybody.
Sometimes Zhang Yang would feel to be a humanitarian and help the villagers fight against this food depression, throwing his meals over to the humans after draining the blood. The hunters would return to find meals that Zhang Yang left and become extremely enthusiastic.
Zhang Yang is a zombie, therefore his saliva naturally beared Cadaver Poison. Zhang Yang manages this poison by using his unique method of the 'Tai Yin Refining Figures' to control his absorption, draining the poison back as he ate which he is immune to.
After awhile, Zhang Yang got careless and was discovered by a hunter. He managed to get away but since then, this village has a new lore named "Zombie G.o.d" in which Zhang Yang was named.
The villagers were truly grateful and thankful to Zhang Yang, he saved them in their darker times.
Zhang Yang is able to kill other animals easily, so supplying and giving food was no problem for him. Besides, Zhang Yang loves the grat.i.tude of people that didn't want to kill him for once.
But helping people wasn't exactly his plan, his plan was to cultivate the Dao. This was basically a side job that he attended to because these humans needed help.
Speaking of these humans, the hunters always strapped on proper equipment for such jobs. They already had ropes tied onto the boar and began to heave it back to the village.
While walking, the villagers had casual conversations in between.
"Hei, If the Li Clan hadn't taken control of the northern side of the mountain, we wouldn't need to be on the southern side, and with that, the Zombie G.o.d wouldn't give us gifts."
"Yeah. But this Li Clan is so overbearing. They won't even allow us to chop wood or go hunting near their northern border. They make it seem as though the forest belongs to them. Once during the day, Junior Dog(teen's name) didn't think the northern side was so close, so once he got there to chop wood, the scouts of the Li Clan actually went and broke both his legs!"
"Yes… Poor Junior Dog, a good kid he is too"
'The Li Clan also is home to cultivators, our village can't afford to offend them, especially since everyone in the village is a mortal."
The hunters were speaking in an obviously p.i.s.sed tone.
"However, Junior Dog did manage to obtain a piece of information from an elder of the Li Clan. The information regarded the reason for closing off the northern side of the mountain. It seems they're trying to hog some type of Magical Spring."
"Magical Spring? What's that?"
"It should be a treasure for cultivators. According to the information heard from the Li elder, this cold spring has some type of power that's heaven defying. If you use a droplet of the spring's water on the eye of a blind, then their vision can be regained."
"Really?! Blind people cured just like that? I can't believe this spring had to be taken by that wicked Li Clan."
The men continued on.
A silhouette appeared with a craned neck above the shadows of all the leaning trees, this figure eavesdropped on the casual talks of the men.
"Magical Spring? Perhaps that's the source of water w.a.n.g Yao used before."
"Looks like Li Clan isn't such a simple clan, they have cultivators so I’m sure their hearts have been deluded by greed. I'm still oblivious to if they have nurtured any Foundation Building cultivators, if so, then I'll simply ignore them. If not, it'll seem my actions will be made."
"Anyways, it wouldn't hurt to check!"
While thinking of the opportunities, Zhang Yang started to travel north.
