Chapter 669: Eighteen Years Ago, the Night of the Torrential Rain!

Master Xuanzhi’s excitement was abnormal. He had even exposed his innate Xiantian Realm level in front of Ling Yun. The fluttering of his robes was due to his powers.

Ling Yun was still in his original position, his expression calm and collected. He patted Murong Feixue’s shoulder lightly and told her that everything was alright through telepathy.

That was because Ling Yun couldn’t detect a single trace of murderous intent from Master Xuanzhi, not even a trace.

“Miss Murong, I would like to speak to Ling Yun alone. Can I ask that you wait here for a short while?” Master Xuanzhi asked in a shaky voice.

Murong Feixue looked at Ling Yun for instruction since she couldn’t decide. Ling Yun was already on his feet. “Big Sister Murong, please wait here for me.”

Ling Yun and Master Xuanzhi entered a quiet zen room under Murong Feixue’s confused gaze. Master Xuanzhi closed the door carefully behind him.

“It seems like Master Xuanzhi is amongst those who know about the incident eighteen years ago?” Ling Yun asked with telepathy after he moved to the center of the room.

Surprisingly, Master Xuanzhi shook his head. “I wasn’t in Lingjue Temple then…” Master Xuanzhi revealed.

“Oh, in that case, why does Master Xuanzhi know about me?”

Master Xuanzhi showed a shade of sorrow, and the corner of his mouth twitched. He took a deep breath. “Ling Yun, it was my senior, Xuanming, who told me personally.”

Master Xuanzhi appeared in a flash in front of Ling Yun. It was evident that there was no more need to hide his cultivation base. He had also seen through Ling Yun’s cultivation.

Ling Yun didn’t feel alarmed. “Master, please tell me what happened then,” he said with sincerity.

The information related to his birth mother and the Ling Family. He had to get to the bottom of it.

Master Xuanzhi no longer had to hide anything. He agreed and said, “I never thought you could achieve such an amazing cultivation base. I’ll tell you all that this old monk knows.”

Master Xuanzhi started to speak to Ling Yun through telepathy.

The truth wasn’t too complicated. On a night of torrential rain, eighteen fateful years go, Master Xuanming was meditating in his own room when he suddenly noticed the fierce battle outside of Lingjue Temple.

Master Xuanming was already at the pinnacle of Xiantian Realm Level Five then. He realized that the two that were battling were of a high cultivation base. That sparked his interest, so he sprinted out of his room to investigate.

He was right. There were indeed two masters fighting on a steep mountain rock outside. Dust and stone flew as in a storm.

Both of them were in black and were masked. He deduced that one was male and the other female from their figures. The male was tall and thin, his arms weirdly long. The woman, on the other hand, had a beautiful figure with masterful control over her Qinggong.

However, the woman was obviously not a match for the man. She was already seriously injured by him.

Master Xuanming knew immediately from their movements that they were from the Devil Sect.

Master Xuanming was baffled. Such highly skilled masters of the Devil Sect usually came and went discreetly. Why would they be fighting outside of a temple during a night of such heavy rain?

He grasped everything through the conversation in between their fighting. It was because of a child.

That man followed the woman to Lingjue Temple, but he didn’t know where she had hidden the child. He injured her in a fit of anger, knowing he was being played. He then tried to bring her back for questioning.

His requests were only met with the woman’s cries. “Si Kongtu, that child’s meridians were destroyed by you lot secretly. He won’t even be able to live past twenty years old. Why do you need to kill him? You should know that he’s the son of the missy of my house!”

“I’m here to kill him personally precisely because he’s a b.a.s.t.a.r.d of your missy. If not, why would I need to come personally?” Si Kongtu sneered.

“The Holy Virgin and her wishful thinking. She wanted you to bring this b.a.s.t.a.r.d out secretly so that he can grow up amongst the common people. Dreaming!”

“Aren’t you worried that I’ll report this back to her? She’ll burn you to ashes!” That woman’s whole body shuddered, and she gave a flas.h.i.+ng glare.

“Your missy? Neither of you will live to see the next sunrise!” Si Kongtu roared with laughter.

“Old bald vulture, don’t just hide there. Come out! I’ll send you on your way too!” Master Xuanming had already been discovered.

Master Xuanming knew nothing good would come out of it, but he had no choice since he had been discovered. He stood by the woman, facing Si Kongtu.

Unfortunately, the difference in their strengths was too apparent. He wasn’t even that injured woman’s match. They wouldn’t be able to overcome Si Kongtu even if they were to fight to the death.

Master Xuanming was gravely injured within three attacks, and that woman was injured further in the process.

However, that woman was intelligent. She told Master Xuanming where she hid the child secretly during the intense battle. She told him to leave her and save the child.

That child was, without a doubt, the current Ling Yun.

She forwent all defense and attacked Si Kongtu to block him. Her efforts were to allow Master Xuanming a chance to escape.

Master Xuanming couldn’t bear to watch that woman be mascaraed by Si Kongtu, but he knew that both of them would be killed in no time if he were to stay. He couldn’t even withstand three strokes from Si Kongtu. Master Xuanming had to make the painful decision to save Ling Yun first.

Master Xuanming took advantage of the chance to escape. He endured the pain and escaped with all his might. “Si Kongtu, it’s not as easy to kill me, Qingniao, as you think! I’ll bring you to h.e.l.l with me!” She gave a death cry!

Master Xuanming then heard a thunderous roar and a cry from Si Kongtu. Master Xuanming sighed, knowing that Qingniao wouldn’t survive that attack.

The sound of battle died down and was replaced by the heavy pattering of the rain. Master Xuanming didn’t dare to turn back because this rain could rob that little Ling Yun of his life. He was gravely injured, and the devil qi had entered his body. He knew he didn’t have much time left, so he had to find Ling Yun quickly.

Master Xuanming quickly came to where Qingniao told him. He was stunned. There was a woman there, her face and body were both breathtaking. Her face was pale, and she was soaked through. She was also cuddling a baby in her arms.

That baby was very obedient in her arms. There was also a rosewood case beside Qin Qiuyue.

Master Xuanming quickly asked who she was. That was Qin Qiuyue, who came up to pray to the Buddha. He begged her to adopt Ling Yun. Qin Qiuyue just gave birth to Ning Lingyu and was filled with maternal instinct. She agreed readily.

Master Xuanming knew it was dangerous and was afraid that more people from the Devil Sect would come after them. He quickly asked her to leave so that she wouldn’t meet these devils.

There was no need. Ning Lingyu was seriously sick at home, so Qin Qiuyue had to go back to her immediately. Therefore, she carried Ling Yun and the rosewood case beside him and left.

Master Xuanming knew Qin Qiuyue was nearly at the Xiantian Realm, but he had to carry out his promise to the end even though he was gravely injured. He protected Qin Qiuyue until she reached Qingshui City before leaving.

Master Xuanming went back to where the battle took place. The bloodstains were cleanly washed away by the rain, no trace of the battle was left.

Master Xuanming’s life was also in danger. He returned to his room and wrote to his junior apprentice, Xuanzhi, asking him to come as soon as he could.

Master Xuanming endured until Master Xuanzhi arrived. He then told him everything with his last painful breath before pa.s.sing on.

“That Miss Qingniao should have been someone close to your birth mother, while that Si Kongtu should have been a formidable master from the Devil Sect. I tried to find their corpses to no avail. I don’t know if they are dead or alive.

“My senior apprentice told me that the Yang Heel Meridian in your body had been destroyed and that you wouldn’t be able to live past twenty. I didn’t think that you had the affinity to have such an amazing experience. Not only is your body healed, but you’ve obtained a very potent set of martial arts. This old monk can’t even discern your cultivation base.”

Ling Yun held his fist tightly, his hand was all white. Murderous intent seeped out of his eyes, and he gnashed his teeth.

After a moment, Ling Yun stood up straight and gave a slight bow. “Thank you for telling me everything, Master Xuanzhi.”

Ling Yun finally understood what happened all those years ago.

The Ling Family was in shambles, and his birth mother, the former Holy Virgin, must have had a tough time as well. Qingniao protected him with all her might, and there was no telling if she was still alive or not. He couldn’t begin to fathom the feelings of his birth mother over the past eighteen years — she didn’t even know if he was still alive!

Si Kongtu, I’ll turn you to ashes if I find out you’re still alive!

Murderous intent continued to seep out from Ling Yun’s eyes.

He exhaled and looked towards Master Xuanzhi. “May I know which room Master Xuanming lived in? I would like to visit it…”
