Chapter 29: Abandoned Railway Line – Get Off the Train at the Abandoned Station (8)
Originally, there were only vintage trains in Jiangjin city. Even though bullet cars, which were cheaper and better were introduced to the city, it was unlikely to replace all the old trains anytime soon.
However, one sudden accident became the trigger to force the city to replace the old trains.
That was the extra serious railway accident which happened thirty years ago.
A train ran out of the track due to some unknown reason. Including the locomotive, there were seven railway carriages overturned. The death toll reached thirty-six people, and the surviving pa.s.sengers were also all injured. The accident shocked the whole nation.
However, Xu Shenxing and others had no idea about it. After all, they were born only about twenty years ago, but the accident happened ten years ago before they were born.
“Monkey” didn’t answer Xu Shenxing immediately, but asked curiously.
“Do you have something to do with the train conductor?”
The other three people in the dormitory realized that Xu Shenxing and Monkey was talking about something personal and could use some privacy. Hence they made some excuses and left the dormitory together.
“There’s something I need to talk to him about.” Xu Shenxing answered very honestly but omitted the subject.
Anyway, he didn’t say that it was him who was wis.h.i.+ng to speak wit the train conductor…
“I advise you to give up this idea.” “monkey” hesitated for a while, then answered while grinding his teeth.
“What’s the problem?” Xu Shenxing felt something was wrong. “Was that person dead?”
After all, thirty years had pa.s.sed. The young train conductor should already be an old man now. It wouldn’t be surprising to hear that he was dead.
However, if it was real, it was very likely that Jiangyue wish wouldn’t be full filled.
Xu Shenxing frowned.
After all, he didn’t know any way to enter the netherworld…
“No, he is still alive.” monkey said with a complex expression, “But he is a little grumpy. If you want to talk to him, it’s not that easy.”
“Do you know the man?”
After hearing monkey’s words, Xu Shenxing felt more curious.
“Of course.” monkey gave a chuckle out of his nose. “Because when the accident happened thirty years ago, the one that train. the train conductor… he was my dad.”

While Xu Shenxing went over to monkey in order to get the information, Jiangyue was nervously waiting in Sakura apartment, where a special guest came to meet her.
“Oh, you are the G.o.d of Land!” Jiangyue opened the door and showed a surprised expression on her face after she saw who the visitor was.
She didn’t know why, but, the G.o.d of Land had a ridiculous b.u.mp on her head.
“Boo… What’s wrong with the house? I can’t get in from the ground…” She covered her head as her face was full of dissatisfaction.
“Why don’t you just come in from the door?”
“I’m not a courier! As the G.o.d of Land, I will lose face if I use the door!”
The value of face which the G.o.d of Land mentioned was really hard to understand.
“So, what is your business here?” After inviting the G.o.d of Land into the house, Jiangyue handed over her, a cup of boiling water, then said apologetically, “Sorry, I can’t find any tea in the house…”
It was better to say that there must be spider webs covering the tea packets, as it has been a long time since anyone used tea in this house.
“If you are looking for Mr. Xu Shenxing, he is at the university now.”
“No. If I want to see him, I wouldn’t have come here around at this time.”
The G.o.d of Land curled her lip and said, “I came to see you.”
“?” Jiangyue got a question mark on her head.
“You know the accident happened thirty years ago, right?” The G.o.d of Land sat down on the sofa and gazed at Jiangyue.
Jiangyue’s face grew slightly sad after she heard this. Even her body also became a bit stiff.
“The earliest train, Jianghua… It’s your predecessor.”
“Yes. I couldn’t remember the accident very clearly, but it was indeed my fault.”
After a short while, Jiangyue nodded and acknowledged her responsibility.
“At that time, Jianghua train suddenly opened its gnosis and had its self-awareness. However, as a newborn youkai, it couldn’t immediately control its own strength. That was how the accident happened…” The G.o.d of Land stopped to take a sip of water, but she immediately felt a burning sensation in her mouth because of the boiling water. “However, it also paid the penalty. It not only lost most of its consciousness, but also got deserted, directly losing its existing conception as a youkai. In a sense, it had already perished from its body to its soul.”
Following that, the old trains were gradually abandoned in Jiangjin city.
Later on, due to the strong demand of the old residents, the government intended to renovate a vintage train as a tourist train to full fill their wishes. However, almost all the old trains were too old to be reused; and finally, they found that only Jianghua train, which was put aside in a broken factory was still useable.
So they had to renovate Jianghua, renamed it as Jiangyue, and let it run again – as a tourist train on the railway.
After saying the whole story, the G.o.d of Land looked at the girl, who was filled with a complicated expression on her face. “You got your consciousness within the past ten years, right? If that’s so, then there is no connection between Jianghua and you. You don’t need to burden yourself with her faults.”
“But, at least…”
It seemed that Jiangyue wanted to say something, but she stopped and just bit her lips, seemed like she didn’t agree with what the G.o.d of Land’s said.
“Don’t get me wrong. I didn’t come here to soothe you.” The G.o.d of Land got seriously. “Do you know what will happen after you leave Jiangyue train?”
She didn’t wait for Jiangyue’s answer, but continued, “You are the soul of the train. After losing you, Jiangyue train is just a sh.e.l.l. Yes, it can still run, but it’s in danger of collapse at any time. Not only that. Without your guidance, there is a high chance of accidents occurring… In fact, just a while back a traveler fell off the train, because the train wheels were stuck suddenly!”
“Is he ok?” Jiang asked with concern.
“I caught him, so he just got a slight injury, but I don’t know what will happen the next time.”
The G.o.d of Land shook her head while saying, “Whether I or Xu Shenxing, we cannot help you keep an eye on your carriage all day. If you go on like this, I’m afraid the train will soon repeat thirty years ago accident again.”
“Then what should I do?” Jiangyue asked.
“Go back to the train.” The G.o.d of Land gazed at Jiangyue as she said word by word, “However, there is something wrong with the Spirit Qi of Jiangjin City. If you go back to the train, I’m afraid that you cannot leave it again. Once Jiangyue train is abandoned, you will disappear immediately… You left the train because you also had a vague feeling about that, right?”
The G.o.d of Land put the teacup back on the table. “Stay in the world, or go back to the train. It all depends on yourself.”
After saying these, she jumped down head first on the floor.
With a loud “bang” sound, she crashed heavily onto the floor.
“Ouch! I forget I cannot go through into the ground from here…”
