Chapter 269 Gulping Down Deep Jealousy (2)
Lu Boyan rested leisurely on the office chair, and the looked relaxed at the woman opposite of the desk.
The woman had soft and curly hair, and her lips stretched out a gentle smile. The tender feelings in her eyes were hard to conceal.
In Su Jianan’s view, the woman looked nothing like the mighty queen referred to by her fans. She was definitely not the same charismatic actress before the camera.
She looked like a normal girl who couldn’t hide her feelings when facing someone she loved.
Su Jianan silently let out a deep sigh—
There was nothing going on between Lu Boyan and Han Ruoxi, they were simply talking about work.
There was nothing going on!! They were just talking about work!!!
Lu Boyan immediately noticed Su Jianan. Pausing for half a second, he got up and walked toward her. “Why didn’t you tell me you are coming back today?”
Su Jianan lifted her lips into a bright and sweet smile and whispered, “I wanted to surprise you! Do you like it?”
She deliberately lowered her voice, but Han Ruoxi heard it across from the desk anyway. Of course, she did it intentionally.
Lu Boyan stared at Su Jianan for two seconds with penetrating insight. Though she did not do anything wrong, Su Jianan still felt guilty…
At this time, Lu Boyan stroked her hair and smiled as he bowed his head to kiss her. “I like it very much.”
“…”
As Han Ruoxi watched them, she quietly clenched her fists as jealousy stirred up in her heart.
Nevertheless, she had been awarded the best actress, so she seemingly acted at ease. “Since Mrs. Lu is here, I will just leave you two alone.”
Su Jianan turned and looked at her with a bright smile. “Take care.”
Han Ruoxi put on her sungla.s.ses and walked out of the office like a queen on high heels.
Su Jianan immediately jumped away from Lu Boyan and stared at him with dissatisfaction. He asked her innocently, “What’s wrong?”
Su Jianan stomped her feet. “What did Han Ruoxi want from you?”
Lu Boyan smiled happily, and Su Jianan just realized—he wanted to see her stomping her feet like that!
Putting aside her posture and temperament, Su Jianan jumped on him angrily. “Speak!”
Lu Boyan enjoyed her suppression before the outbreak and said, “Jianan, you are being jealous.”
Su Jianan raised her chin and snorted. “And I am gulping down deep jealousy!”
Lu Boyan was not so used to her straightforwardness. He wrapped her into his long arms and kissed her petal-like lips before she could struggle to lower her head.
His kisses were lingering yet overbearing.
He enclosed days of longings for this Little Monster in his kiss that he did not allow Su Jianan to escape.
Not sure if Lu Boyan’s kissing skill was just too good, or that she had no immunity toward him, Su Jianan softened up to his kiss despite her tough att.i.tude on the unanswered questions.
She didn’t even know how Lu Boyan pressed her to the wall, or how long it had taken for him to release her.
He said, “I only meet up with my artists for work, understand?”
“…” What he meant was that it was necessary for him to meet with Han Ruoxi today, but simply for work?
Su Jianan nodded and accepted Lu Boyan’s explanation.
Since she didn’t see any excessive behavior between Lu Boyan and Han Ruoxi when she walked in, it would be unreasonable if she persisted on.
“Be good.” Lu Boyan kissed her again as if he couldn’t get enough. “Do you want to go home or stay here with me?”
Su Jianan said untruthfully, “I want to go home!” Then she tried to push away the hand Lu Boyan had pressed against the wall.
“Do you really want to go home?” Lu Boyan did not move and stared at Su Jianan with a sly look. His eyes were so bright as if he could gain insight into everything.
Embarra.s.sed, Su Jianan bent her legs to drill out, but Lu Boyan picked her up instead like a pet.
“Hey!” The kiss from earlier emerged in her mind and made her think of something else. She nervously looked at the door of the lounge and struggled in a panic. “Let me down!”
Lu Boyan placed her on a sofa and pa.s.sed her a tablet. “Be good and stay here, otherwise… I will really take you to the lounge.”
Su Jianan subconsciously hugged the tablet, huddled in the corner of the sofa, and looked at Lu Boyan innocently.
How did he know that she thought he was going to take her to the lounge earlier…?
“Cough!” Su Jianan played dumb and pushed Lu Boyan. “You should go back to work.”
Just like this, she stayed in the office with Lu Boyan for the whole day and still felt that time had pa.s.sed away quickly.
Once the clock hit five, Lu Boyan left the office holding Su Jianan’s hand. All the secretary and a.s.sistant outside were stunned, even Shen Yuechuan looked at Lu Boyan with disbelief. “Are, are you getting off work?”
Lu Boyan lightly glanced at Shen Yuechuan. “Anyone is welcomed to stay for overtime, the company does have good overtime benefits.”
Shen Yuechuan’s lips twitched twice. “d.a.m.n, finally getting off work on time today!” He threw a doc.u.ment back to the office, and said to Su Jianan graciously, “benefactress, you should have come back earlier!”
Ever since Su Jianan’s leave, Lu Boyan had been working overtime until midnight every day. So did these poor people who worked for him.
Now he finally understood. What could liberate them was never an exceptional performance, but rather, Su Jianan!
Su Jianan looked at the other secretary and a.s.sistant, who looked at her gratefully, then entered the elevator with Lu Boyan feeling more confused.
She had always heard of his secretary and a.s.sistant’s complaints about the work intensity and the occasional overtimes.
Yet, no one left the company, or even mentioned a resignation. They still maintained a high level of enthusiasm for their work.
Though the compet.i.tive salary was one reason to stay, the bottom line was probably because of Lu Boyan?
Su Jianan sneaked a peek at Lu Boyan’s side profile and remembered his a.s.siduous look when he worked with high efficiency. Working with someone like him, she would also be willing to endure the occasional overtime and high-intensity work.
After they got on the car, Uncle Qian asked if they were going home as usual.
Su Jianan tugged Lu Boyan’s hands. “I want to go visit my brother.”
Su Yicheng was not back yet so Su Jianan opened the door with her spare key. His apartment was kept clean and tidy. The side-by-side refrigerator was full of fruits and vegetables. Lu Boyan said, “he is not as decadent as you imagined.”
Su Jianan turned around and saw a bowl of udon on the table. It looked similar to the one she had with Luo Xiaoxi in j.a.pan. She took a bite of the udon, which tasted surprisingly similar as well.
She slowly understood something.
Perhaps Lu Boyan was right. Although Su Yicheng was not decadent, she still felt sad.
At this moment, Su Yicheng came back.
Su Yicheng paused upon seeing Su Jianan and Lu Boyan in the room, then he walked over and took away the bowl of udon. “The housekeeping lady did not come today.”
The housekeeping lady came every other day. On her off-days, no one would clear the other set of breakfast. Therefore, he cleared it every time after he got back from work.
Su Jianan pretended like nothing was wrong and smiled. “Brother, have you had dinner yet? What do you want to eat? I will cook for you!”
Su Yicheng thought about it, but he couldn’t think of anything, so he said, “Anything will do.”
The refrigerator had everything she needed. Su Jianan closed the kitchen door and began to cook, shutting the two grown men outside the door.
Lu Boyan grabbed an unopened bottle of liqueur from the cabinet along with two gla.s.ses. Su Yicheng also sat down at the bar on a mutual understanding. He pointed at the gla.s.s with his chin. “Fill it up.”
Many said that alcohol could take away one’s sorrow; but because Luo Xiaoxi hated alcohol, he had never used alcohol to paralyze himself despite his longings for her since she had left.
For the first time, the CEO of Lu Enterprises had poured a drink for another. Su Yicheng then chugged it down with some intention to vent.
After several gla.s.ses in a row, the spiciness of the liqueur burned in the throat. Su Yicheng seemed to be drunk. He looked at the photo wall and squinted. “I was about to propose to her.”
It was the first time he had told his secret to another person; it was also the first time he spoke in such a grievous tone.
As a man, Lu Boyan understood Su Yicheng’s feeling at the moment. He silently filled up the gla.s.ses with liqueur and lightly clinked Su Yicheng’s gla.s.s. Out of respect, he drank up first.
Su Yicheng laughed and gulped down a big gla.s.s of liqueur.
After Su Jianan finally finished preparing four dishes and one soup, she was stunned when she came out of the kitchen.
Su Yicheng was already wasted on the counter. There was an empty bottle of liqueur, and one-fifth bottle of wine left on the counter.
Lu Boyan was still quite sober, but a layer of fascination loomed his narrow eyes. Looking unguarded, he seemed widely different from the a.s.sertive CEO of Lu Enterprises during day time.
“You guys…” Agitated, Su Jianan rushed over. “Who allowed you guys to drink!”
Su Yicheng was pa.s.sed out and showed no reaction. Lu Boyan suddenly hugged around her waist and rubbed against her flat little belly. “Honey, have I ever proposed to you?”
Su Yicheng suddenly kicked Lu Boyan. “If you are not including the time you guys first met fourteen years ago, you practically married my sister on the first time you met. When the heck did you propose?”
“…” Hearing Su Yicheng swear like that for the first time, Su Jianan felt her perceptions collapsing down in an earthquake.
Before she could digest Su Yicheng’s swearing, Lu Boyan suddenly jumped off from the high stool. He stumbled around and Su Jianan held him up.
Lu Boyan looked at Su Jianan not knowing what he wanted to do. At last, he seemed to have given up, and complained, “Honey, I feel dizzy.”
Su Jianan finally confirmed that Lu Boyan was as drunk as Su Yicheng was.
She a.s.sisted Lu Boyan to the sofa to lie down and laid a blanket over him. Then, she went back to check on Su Yicheng. “Brother, how are you feeling?”
Su Yicheng waved his hand. “I am fine.”
He raised his head with great difficulty and looked around. “Jianan, where is my room?”
“…” Su Jianan speechlessly a.s.sisted Su Yicheng back to his room, adjusted the room temperature, and carefully tucked him in bed. “Brother, I am going back. Can you take care of yourself?”
“Go ahead.” Su Yicheng curled up in bed like a child. “I am not drunk.”
According to Su Yicheng and Lu Boyan’s alcohol tolerance, a bottle of liqueur and some red wine weren’t enough to make them drunk.
Perhaps it was like the saying: one was intoxicated not by liqueur, but by oneself.
