Chapter 298 A Threat, Divorce Him
Lu Boyan couldn’t be investigated by the police again, or Lu Enterprises would really have no hope of survival!
Su Jianan stood up suddenly, the confusion in her eyes disappearing slowly. And she decided, the most important thing now was to verify the information from Kang Ruicheng.
She expected it was a fluke, a counterfeit to scare her, but her senses told her Kang Ruicheng was not so bored.
After Jiang Shaokai finished the anatomical work and returned to the office, he found Su Jianan still seated, lost in her thoughts. He didn’t know if she was calm or panicky. So he walked over and knocked on her desk. “What are you doing?”
Su Jianan locked the door of the office from inside. “Shaokai, help me!”
Jiang Shaokai was frightened by her solemn face. “What happened?”
Su Jianan handed the portfolio to Jiang Shaokai. “Find someone you can trust and find out Boyan’s fund sources in the early days of his business, and if Mu Sijue has any relations.h.i.+p with Lu Enterprises.”
Jiang Shaokai glanced at the file case and understood it all, shaking his head unbelievably. “If it is true, Lu Boyan…”
“So you need to find someone you absolutely trust to investigate secretly and cannot alarm anyone,” Su Jianan said determinedly and firmly, “tell me once you receive a result.”
“I know the Mu family in City G,” Jiang Shaokai said, “did you notice his relations.h.i.+p with Mu Sijue, since you’ve been married tp Lu Boyan for so long?”
After quite a while, Su Jianan only struggled to squeeze out two words. “Very close.”
Jiang Shaokai felt that the information was mostly real.
He put his hand on Su Jianan’s shoulder to comfort her. “Don’t worry too much, wait for me.”
Su Jianan nodded and watched the clock on the wall. It was about seven o’clock.
She packed up and walked out of the police office. Coincidentally, Lu Boyan’s car also stopped. He got out of the car, standing by the door and smiling at her, which beckoned her over.
Su Jianan lifted her lips and walked over. The closer she got to him, the stranger Lu Boyan was in her eyes.
Having been married for more than half a year, she thought she had known all about Lu Boyan, his living habits, some of his quirks, and the way he conducted himself.
Lu Boyan also didn’t mind telling her his everything.
However, he never mentioned the days after he went to U.S.
He got to meet and befriend Mu Sijue, Shen Yuechuan in these years.
Lu Boyan could perceive all her changes even if Su Jianan lost a strand of her hair, not to mention her slightly weird expression at the moment.
He stared at her. “What’s wrong? You don’t look good.”
Su Jianan hid her bad mood quickly and squeezed a smile. “There was a homicide case, so we’ve been busy this afternoon. You’re… already off work?”
“Not yet.” Lu Boyan made his way beckoning Su Jianan to get in the car. “I suddenly got hungry. Uncle Xu told me that you haven’t gone off work, so I come by to pick you up, to have dinner.”
Su Jianan chose a restaurant where they never went before and the food tasted very good. Though she did not want to eat, she still had to pretend to enjoy it.
After dinner, Su Jianan thought that Lu Boyan would go back to the company and continue to work. But he suddenly changed his mind and went straight home instead of to the company.
Su Jianan felt very surprised. “Does Boss Lu also slack off?”
Lu Boyan embraced her waist and smiled. “Because Boss Lu wants to stay with his wife.”
In Su Jianan’s memory, she had not had a chance to talk with Lu Boyan for a long time. She dragged Lu Boyan to sit down in the living room after back at home and then turned on the TV. “Watch a movie with me.”
She picked and finally chose an old movie which she had watched three times.
“Gone with the Wind”.
Lu Boyan came back from the wine cellar, carrying a bottle of wine and only to see the movie’s name on the screen. Then he lifted the eyebrow and poured the wine himself.
When everything was ready, Su Jianan wrapped herself in a blanket and freely leaned on Lu Boyan, staring fixedly at the screen. Lu Boyan handed the wine gla.s.s to her and suddenly asked, “How about having someone to set up a home theater later?”
Su Jianan’s eyes brightened. “Really?”
Lu Boyan glanced at her and said, “It depends on what you will do.”
Su Jianan kissed him without hesitation, holding his arm. “When?”
A pleasant smile appeared on Lu Boyan’s face. “When we come back from France.”
Su Jianan hugged Lu Boyan happily and contentedly. “That means I can watch “Gone with the wind” in a cinema every day in the future.”
Lu Boyan seemed a little puzzled. “Why do you like this movie so much?”
“Because it’s beautiful, suffering, and regretful,” Su Jianan said, “compared with the people of that era, we are too lucky. Some hards.h.i.+ps these days are not even hard at all.”
“…”
Lu Boyan was silent for a moment, so Su Jianan naturally changed her topic to his life in the U.S. She asked, “Did you feel tired when you just arrived in U.S?”
“Not bad.” Lu Boyan picked the gla.s.s up. “It’s all in the past.” He bowed his head and sipped the wine. Su Jianan was not sure if a trace of coldness pa.s.sed through his eyes at that moment.
She was rarely stubborn and didn’t let go of Lu Boyan. “I want to know how you lived in those years.”
“You really want to know?”
Su Jianan positively nodded.
Lu Boyan put down the gla.s.s and told her seriously. “Just went to cla.s.ses, then went home, and did these things every day.”
Su Jianan knew that Lu Boyan must conceal something, but she couldn’t continue, otherwise he would be suspicious.
So she despised him at will. “Your life was so boring.”
“In fact, I could live a different life.” Lu Boyan spoke slowly. “Such as going to a party with my cla.s.smates, drinking, then dating instead of going home after cla.s.s.”
Su Jianan did know how casual the U.S. people were: after a drink and date, then they could…
She glared at Lu Boyan. “How dare you!”
She was rarely angry. For Lu Boyan, the expression that she glanced angrily was completely cute. He just answered, “I don’t.” Then he bowed his head to seize her lips.
“Oh…” Su Jianan struggled and ambiguously protested. “The movie…”
Lu Boyan held her up with the blanket. “You have watched it three times.”
The audience returned to the room, leaving the film to play alone in the living room.
…
The next day.
Only when Su Jianan arrived at the police station, did she know that Jiang Shaokai had taken a half-day leave, then she called him but no one answered.
In the afternoon, Jiang Shaokai finally came to the police station, locking the door of the office, and solemnly looking at Su Jianan.
Su Jianan’s heart screamed and her voice trembled. “Is there an answer?”
Jiang Shaokai nodded and said, “I don’t want to leave the evidence. So I don’t sort it into written materials. Simply to say, on the surface, Lu Boyan’s initial source of funds came from investing in stocks and trading in futures. In fact, a large source of funding is obscure. If we continue…”
Su Jianan continued, “You will trace it back to Mu Sijue, right?”
Jiang Shaokai nodded. “Now Mu Sijue seems to run a technology company, but actually he’s in charge of his family business. Mu Sijue doesn’t belong to the underground world, nor does he belong to official authority, so his ident.i.ty is very sensitive. The police have been investigating and want to defeat him, and then many gray industries in G City will be swept away. It is not good that Lu Boyan involves with him so much.”
“I know.”
Su Jianan lost her mind suddenly and even her voice wavered.
“I have another question.” Jiang Shaokai stared at Su Jianan. “Who gives you that information? Kang Ruicheng?”
Su Jianan nodded.
Jiang Shaokai finally knew why Su Jianan was so fl.u.s.tered, so he told her to stay calm and asked, “Did Kang Ruicheng say what he wanted? He held the information but didn’t threaten Lu Boyan. Instead, he came to you. It means that he certainly wants to get something from you.”
Su Jianan held her head and forced herself to calm down. She finally remembered. “Kang Ruicheng said that I would call him.”
She dialed Kang Ruicheng’s number and put it on speaker. Quickly, Kang Ruicheng’s voice came. “It’s faster than I thought. Ah—, I’ve looked down on you before.”
…
“Cut the c.r.a.p,” Su Jianan asked directly, “What do you want?”
“Haven’t I told you already?” Kang Ruicheng chuckled and said word by word, “I want Lu Boyan to watch the person he loves to leave him, I also want Lu Boyan to live in pain and feel that it is better to die than to live.”
“…”
“Well, you may not understand this.” Kang Ruicheng’s voice calmed down again and said, “Jianan, divorce him!”
Feeling like something violently hit her brain, Su Jianan subconsciously refuted. “No way!”
“I’ve seen that coming.” Kang Ruicheng was not in a hurry, slowly announcing more breaking news. “I’ll tell you this, I have much more information than you see. Now, find your way to Hyatt, then I will show you something else.”
Su Jianan looked at Jiang Shaokai subconsciously, and then heard Kang Ruicheng adding, “You can bring some company if you are still worried.”
Su Jianan and Jiang Shaokai rushed to the Hyatt hotel, according to Kang Ruicheng’s words, they went to Room 06 on the 17th floor.
The door was open and Kang Ruicheng was waiting for them.
Seeing Su Jianan with a man, Kang Ruicheng smiled and said, “In the daytime, entering a hotel with a man. You’re not afraid of being photographed and Lu Boyan will misunderstand?”
“Don’t use your shortsighted eyes to judge others.” Su Jianan looked at Kang Ruicheng coldly. “What else do you have?”
Kang Ruicheng handed a doc.u.ment to Su Jianan. There were some photos. Those people were Mu Sijue, Lu Boyan, and Shen Yuechuan.
They were all photos of the three’s recreational time. The three people were talking and laughing, either fis.h.i.+ng or playing golf together.
The photos themselves were nothing, but it was enough to show that the three people had a close relations.h.i.+p.
A survey report under the photo showed that Lu Boyan had partic.i.p.ated in some of Mu Sijue’s transactions. It was about eight or nine years ago when Lu Boyan’s first started his business.
Su Jianan knew that it didn’t work, but only by tearing up these things could she hide the uneasiness in her heart.
Then she calmed down, eyes full of unwillingness, but she could do nothing.
Kang Ruicheng smiled. “I’ll tell you straight, I have some evidence—that can prove Lu Boyan might have broken the law.”
“Where did you get these things?” Jiang Shaokai asked.
“Of course I have my way.”
Jiang Shaokai smiled. “You arranged someone around Mu Sijue.”
“You are smart.” Kang Ruicheng sat down on the sofa and lig a cigar. “It would be good if Mu Sijue were as smart as you. Unfortunately, although he’s aware, he doesn’t know who he is.”
Kang Ruicheng poured red wine in the cup and gestured to Su Jianan. “It’s time for us to talk.”
Su Jianan’s hands clenched into fists, and only then could she hide her trembling. “Do you really want me to divorce Boyan?”
“Yes, I want you to propose to divorce him,” Kang Ruicheng said, “Otherwise, I will hand all the things you see to the police. By the time, you don’t need me to tell you what Lu Boyan and Lu Enterprises will face, do you?”
