Chapter 398 Sweetie, the Little Guys Moved (1)
In the hospital…
Xu Youning knew that Su Jianan was fine after watching the news and was relieved.
Su Jianan almost lost her child twice. It was so close. If this time she lost her child because of Kang Ruicheng, she would be so ashamed that she couldn’t stay in City A anymore, let alone face Su Jianan herself.
In the afternoon, Ah Guang, who was supposed to be working in City G, was followed by a nurse.
Seeing Xu Youning’s astonished expression, Ah Guang touched his own hair subconsciously out of embarra.s.sment. “Sister Youning, Seventh Brother told me that you got hurt and asked me to come and see if there is anything that I could help with and said that I should take care of you. By the way, your hospital transfer procedure is all settled. You can now pack and go.”
“I’ve just been admitted. There’s not much to pack.” Xu Youning sat up. “Ah Guang, where is Seventh Brother?” she asked after a second thought.
She hadn’t heard from Mu Sijue since he had left the hospital in the morning. She knew that it was silly to be worried about him. But when the idea of Kang Ruicheng planning to kill him came to her, she couldn’t stop being silly.
“Seventh Brother has a lot on his plate, but he didn’t say anything about what it is. He just asked me to help you with the transfer.”
“Miss Xu,” the nurse interrupted, “that guy waited all whole night last night outside the ward. He was there for you for the entire night. I guess he is your boyfriend, right? He was so hot. We were so jealous!”
Xu Youning finally figured out why Mu Sijue was able to rush into the ward this morning right on time. He had been right outside.
“Sister Youning, what was Seventh Brother doing sitting outside?” Ah Guang asked with uncertainty. “He was worried about you, right?”
Xu Youning chuckled. “If he did worry about me, he should have stayed in the ward. Who knows what he was doing out there? Weirdo…”
“…” Ah Guang went silent.
Having said nothing, Ah Guang sent Xu Youning to the private hospital.
Xu Youning had heard about this private hospital under Lu Enterprises. But when she got to see it for herself, she was still overwhelmed by the fully equipped facilities and the elegance of the hospital environment.
Ah Guang couldn’t help sighing. “So this is how the rich roll.”
In order to ensure that Xu Youning was accompanied 24/7, Su Jianan had a.s.signed two care workers to Xu Youning. The arrangement of her ward adhered to the standard of a suite, and the facilities were very fancy, like those in a five-star hotel.
Xu Youning was so overwhelmed that she had this illusion: She was here for a vacation, not for medical treatment.
Ah Guang wondered while still in shock, “Sister Youning, if I broke my leg, do you think Seventh Brother would send me to a hospital like this for medical treatment?”
“Well…” Xu Youning went into deep thought. “If you really want to know, I can break your leg so that you could find out.”
Ah Guang had a chill run through him. “Nope, I’m good.”
The care worker came up behind Xu Youning. “Miss Xu, may I help you to get in the bed?”
“How?” Ah Guang stopped the care worker. “Sister Youning is wearing a thick cast. What are we gonna do if you accidentally hurt her?”
“So—” the caretaker hesitated, “are you gonna carry her to the bed?”
Blus.h.i.+ng from shyness, Ah Guang couldn’t look directly at Xu Youning or speak properly. “Sister Y-Youning, do you mind if I hold…” All of a sudden, Mu Sijue showed up in the ward, while Ah Guang was still stuttering.
“Seventh Brother!” Ah Guang looked at Mu Sijue and stood up straight, as if he did something wrong and was busted.
Mu Sijue responded with a “Yeah,” and pa.s.sed Ah Guang a note: “Go there. Find Shen Yuechuan. He will show you to Mike.”
Ah Guang had never expected that he could meet someone as influential as Mike. He felt a little unconfident. “Then? What do I need to do?”
“Be aware of the environment and be safe.” Mu Sijue said, “Yuechuan will take care of the rest.”
“Got it!”
Ah Guang ran away and left the ward, and the care worker also left for work. There were only Xu Youning and Mu Sijue in the ward.
Xu Youning stared at the bed. While she was trying to come up with a way to get in the bed, she was lifted up. It was Mu Sijue who was lifting her.
At that moment, her heart was beating like crazy. She felt like she had thousands of b.u.t.terflies in her stomach.
As Xu Youning looked up, all she could see was Mu Sijue’s sculpture-like face, looking intimidatingly stern. Despite his pursed lips, to her, they still looked incredibly delicious. If she lacked self-control, she wouldn’t be able to hold back any longer and would just kiss him.
Once the soft and warm female figure lay on his arms, he finally realized what he was doing. After being startled for a moment, he then threw Xu Youning onto the bed emotionlessly.
It was insane. Yes, Ah Guang was about to hold her. But what did that have to do with him? Why did he rush in? Just so he could carry her himself into bed?
“Bang!” Xu Youning was thrown onto the bed.
Xu Youning didn’t expect the roughness of Mu Sijue. She couldn’t react. Also, the wound on her leg was b.u.mped, which led to the death of the b.u.t.terflies in her stomach.
She gritted her teeth and gripped the bed sheet very hard. Out of this unbearable pain, she grabbed a pillow nearby and threw it at Mu Sijue fiercely. “Who let you touch me? d.a.m.n! I would have chosen Ah Guang over you to carry me.”
To Mu Sijue, she had to be some kind of garbage. Otherwise, why would he throw her away like that without care?
Noticing the cold sweat dripping down her forehead because of pain, his heart was stung as if there was a nail being hammered into it. But on second thought, maybe this was the right thing to do.
Settled with this idea, he sneered ruthlessly, “Oh, I thought you were familiar with this pain when you were practicing Taekwondo. Well, take that as a memory recall.”
While investigating the missions a.s.signed by Kang Ruicheng that Xu Youning had carried out over the past few years, he discovered the facts that Xu Youning had once broken her ribs, fallen off from a cliff, and basically gotten hurt everywhere when she was in training.
She had taken this much pain for Kang Ruicheng. How painful could that little b.u.mp be?
“Why would I want to recall my pain?” Xu Youning rolled her eyes to Mu Sijue in disbelief. “Mu Sijue, what’s wrong with you? Go get yourself checked out.”
“…”
“…”
“If you need anything, ask the care worker.”
After leaving a few last words, Mu Sijue left the ward.
Xu Youning was right. Maybe there was something wrong with him. Something serious.
Considering that Mu Sijue was out of his mind, Xu Youning didn’t take this into account. She lay down and turned on the LCD TV that had a wonderful visual effect to kill time.
…
The next day, the evaluation review that Han Ruoxi had taken in the police station came out. She was detained and forced to undergo drug rehabilitation in a rehab center.
A well-known superstar with a once-promising future became an artist with an unremovable stain on her life and no future.
But Lu Boyan had no intention to let Han Ruoxi go that easy.
The upcoming movie scheduled to come out in a week starring Han Ruoxi was canceled. The biggest investor, the Su Group, suffered a heavy loss. Apart from that, the endors.e.m.e.nt events and advertis.e.m.e.nts related to Han Ruoxi were all banned. The companies were all required to terminate the contracts and provide compensation.
On top of having an irrevocably broken name, Han Ruoxi also had to face a great number of compensation claims.
Even worse, Han Ruoxi’s management company made an announcement that they had officially terminated the contract with her. Upon the termination, they were no longer responsible for Han Ruoxi’s management business. Also, they were not liable for her personal actions.
None of the artists who had been Han Ruoxi’s friends, those who had claimed to be her “BFFs”, stood up for Han Ruoxi. More importantly, they stopped updating their social media status in order to avoid suspicion.
It was very clear from the rumor in their circle that it wasn’t the Artist Authority shutting out Han Ruoxi. They were going to do it later. It was Lu Boyan who was shutting Han Ruoxi out.
Unless one didn’t want to stay in show business, there wouldn’t be a person who would want to go against Lu Boyan’s will.
On the third day, Han Ruoxi hosted a press conference in her own name confessing the fact that she was in rehab.
When the press asked her about the incident of her cras.h.i.+ng into Su Jianan, she cried and said, “I was devastated and I wasn’t conscious. I thought all the pain I was suffering was because of her, so I did such an irrational thing to her out of anger. Fortunately, it didn’t lead to a more severe consequence. I hereby apologize to Mrs. Lu and to all my fans—I am really sorry. I was blinded for love, had no idea about loving and cheris.h.i.+ng myself, and let you all down. I will do my utmost to quit all these unhealthy habits and I would like to beg for your forgiveness.”
“Ruoxi, what’s your plan for the future? A tainted artist wants to get back into show biz… Seems a bit hard, isn’t it?” a reporter asked.
Han Ruoxi cried even more wretchedly. “I am really really sorry, guys. If you are willing to give me another chance when I come back, I want to be devoted to doing charity work, helping people in need, and do everything I can to make up for it.”
Hearing that, Su Jianan switched off the TV.
Although Han Ruoxi was in trouble with a ruined reputation, she was still influential in show business after all these years. The tears she dropped at this press conference could earn back a lot of sympathy.
Based on her previous accomplishments, as long as she kept a certain amount of her fans and maintained her popularity, she could be whitewashed and storm back after doing a few years of charity work.
If she were right, Han Ruoxi would tell everyone that she had moved on from Lu Boyan, had broadened her horizon after years of charity work, and would like to focus only on those in need at that time and help them, while trying her best.
At that point, a well-written story would be completed: A G.o.ddess, who was once nearly ruined because of un.o.btainable love, washed the taint off herself and found her way back from the mud to where she belonged.
Su Jianan couldn’t help sighing. No wonder why people always said that life is a play: If this isn’t dramatic enough, then what is?
Lu Boyan got off from work earlier than usual. He saw Su Jianan sitting on the couch and switching TV channels out of boredom.
It was getting warm. The indoor temperature was comfortable. Su Jianan wore warm, creamy-white house clothes, sitting on the couch. It was not difficult to see the b.u.mp on her stomach.
Su Jianan was aware of him when he was changing his shoes. Even though the little guys in her womb couldn’t hear it, she still said to them, “Daddy is back.”
Lu Boyan smiled upon hearing what she had said. He walked into the living room, noticing the stiffness she suddenly had on her face.
He frowned while speeding up. “What happened?”
Su Jianan blinked, feeling incredible. She dragged Lu Boyan over, took his hand, and placed it on her stomach. “They moved! Right when I was telling them daddy is back!” She grabbed Lu Boyan’s hand excitedly. “They heard me, right?”
Lu Boyan put his knee down in front of Su Jianan and his hand covered her stomach carefully. There was not any movement. But he knew exactly that there were two little lives growing inside there.
He stared at Su Jianan with complete gentleness. “You sensed it for the first time?”
Su Jianan nodded. “Yeah.” Suddenly, she paused and said with all seriousness, “But isn’t it weird to have the fetal movement this soon?”
